Dear Bo: One Chinese Yuan = $0.14. 15 Chinese Yuan = $2.10. 25 Chinese Yuan = $3.50. At my, local pet store, it is doubtful one could purchase any characin for less than $3.50. The current inflation is the worst in history. But, I continue to spend lots of money, on my hobby; mainly on live plants. I hope this decreases, as I am now injecting CO2, into my, show-tank. Thank you for sharing your experiences with this, lovely species: ruby tetra (Axelrodia riesei). I hope you are able to breed them, as you are quite expert, at breeding characins. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
Hi Brinegar, Wow, 3.5 USD for one characin is so expensive. In our local store, one neon tetra costs only 0.14 USD. Thanks for the continued support! Your passion for the hobby is inspiring. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
Nice Bo thanks for sharing! hey I have a question, how difficult would it be for you to get some "Rainbow Lizard Tetra (Iguanodectes geisleri)" in your country? there isn't much information about those online and I think they look beautiful, so maybe you could consider trying to breed those in the future 😀
Hi Sergio, Rainbow Lizard Tetras are actually not that difficult to find in my country, but the prices are quite expensive, 10 times that of Ruby Tetras. I don't know if they are difficult to breed, but I'll try to keep and breed them in the future. Thanks for your recommendation and comment.
@@bothetetrabreeder8734 Wow when they are available in my country the cost the same as the cardinal tetras, I haven't got any because I didn't know how nice they look when properly acclimated, but if you get them by any chance it'll be really nice, have a great day! 🙂
That's a good question. I only feed them live foods, and I don't feed more than they can handle. Normally, the food will be all finished up before they reach the bottom. Besides, I tend to feed on the outer side of the tank, so even if they reach the bottom, they are outside of the mesh frame. Thanks for your comment!
Bro Bo, Wouldn't you need more to breed? Can you tell which is male/female? Those eggs are gonna be microscopic and most likely be inadequate. Wild/bred look a lot diff too...I respect your will thou and look forward hoping the best but damn, poor rubys 😢
Hey Ghost, I think I have both males and females. I can tell the difference by looking at their stomachs. But breeding them is quite challenging. They are the shyest fish I have kept so far. Thanks for your comment!
are you seriously saying that 15 RMB for an individual of a characidae species is relateively high priced here in China? then what about the one like Bryconadenos tanaothoros which has been sold at a price of around 600 RMB for each here in China? and also it is definitely quite easy to get axelrodia riesei here in China. i mean i am living in Beijing and it is like you could get axelrodia riesei at several local aquatic stores here in the town quite easily. also it is like one of those characidae species that you could see available consistently in the local market. i am writing this not trying to create any arguements over what has been said in your video about the price and the availability of the fish, instead, i am just simply giving a different opinion based on what it actually is with this species here in my town (Beijing).
Hi Weiji, I'm comparing the price with common tetras like neon tetras, cardinal tetras, rummy nose tetras, and all those commonly found in the market. Of course, I know there are many extremely high-priced, rare tetras, like the one you mentioned, which I just heard about for the first time. Regarding the availability of the fish, I mainly purchase my fish online, so I am only speaking about the rarity in online stores. From what I've searched, there aren't many shops that currently have this tetra. I rarely buy fish in physical stores, so I can't speak to that aspect. Maybe you're correct in that sense. Thanks for your comment.
but there is simply no point of making a comparison between the price of a wild caught imported species and the price of a massively capitive bred species or am i having it wrong? @@bothetetrabreeder8734
Awesome bet design Bo….the best of luck to you and happy holidays!
Thanks Jack and Dan! Happy holidays!😀😀😀
great video

how do you clean the uneaten food from under your breeding screen?
