Hi bro. I'm finding hard to culture Infusoria for my tetra fries and so as an alternative can i feed Vinegar eels? or just brine shrimp as the food? Please tell me any alternatives for Infusoria. Thanks

Hi my friend, thanks for your question. For me, I just feed them baby brine shrimp as soon as they are free swimming. The trick is that you need to put the fry in a small container, so the fry can find the BBS easily. You can see in many of the videos that my fry can eat baby brine shrimp at a very early stage (5-6 days after hatching). Another option for first food is egg yolk solution. I hope they work for you too.

What's the alternative food for Cardinal Tetra Fry if you don't have BBS?

Hi my friend, if you mean for the first few days after the fry start swimming freely. You can feed them egg yolk solution. But for me, I just feed them BBS directly. Sooner or later, we will have to feed them BBS, it is an irreplaceable food for the fry. I can't think of any other food that's better than BBS.

@@bothetetrabreeder8734 BBS is way too pricey in here. I could culture mosquito larvae for them after they start free swimming

    Dear Bo:
Raccoon tetra (Hyphessobrycon procyon) are in the same Family as the black neon tetra (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi). I’ve found Hyphessobrycon species to be quite hardy.
Thank you, for sharing footage, of your, terrific success, breeding this, lovely species.
    All my best,
    Sincerely,
    E. J. Brinegar

Hi Brinegar, Haha, I didn't notice that their scientific name also begins with "Hyphessobrycon," that really helps with better understanding of tetras' characteristics. I didn't pay much attention to the long Latin names as they are too difficult for me to remember. Now I understand why you always mention a species by its scientific name. Thanks for your continued support!

      Dear Bo:
Binomials (also called “Latin names” or “scientific names”) are very important, for the hobbyist. Any, given Family of fish; invertebrate; or flora is likely to exhibit many of the same characteristics and require similar care. When “common names” are used, there is often confusion, regarding which species is being discussed.
I appreciate your work, very much. I’m very impressed, by your tenacity, in breeding various species and your, terrific, camera work.
      Keep it up.
      Sincerely,
      Brinegar

I admit, I never heard of Raccoon Tetra before!! Even though you only seen 1 egg, it goes to show that there maybe more!!! Awesome job!!

Hi Doubledee, yes I did receive about 10 fry at the end of the video. I guess the eggs either stuck to the palm fiber fish nest or were covered by rotten plant leaves. Thanks for your nice comment!

I have heard of this tetra and will try it in the future. I'm struggling to breed ruby tetras, and it's been going on for almost a year!

My serpae tetra looked brown at first, until I put them in a large well planted tank, they are blood red now , I think the more plants means the more the colors a fish will have ❤❤

Hi Mrfish, Yes, more plants will make the fish more calm and at ease, which will consequently make their colors more vibrant. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks for watching! There are so many types of tetra species, and I have only learned the tip of the iceberg, which is also why it's so interesting to keep these fish.
