    The Ghostbusters 2 clip at around 2.30... toasters like that had little legs/feet under them so you could level them on an uneven worksurface or whatnot. I used to sell the things. So to me, it never looked ridiculous or like a mistake to see them feet a-poppin' and a-jumpin' as I knew they were there anyway. Of course it's how the toaster would move around...
    But hey, what do I know?

      i didnt see the pistons because from the way it was jittering around, it kinda look like they just used the old super thin gauge fishing line trick. i was looking above the toaster and to the sides lol

      Oh wow, one of those ones where an honest interpretation comes off looking like a mistake, at least if you aren't aware of that style of toaster and their feet lol. Those are always fun, almost "no right answer" situations.

    A "Moonraker" is a crazy person who sees the reflection of the moon in a pond, and-thinking it's a wheel of cheese- tryst to rake it out of the water.

    • @circeciernova1712
      @circeciernova1712 3 місяці тому

      Rf Moonraker: This supposedly comes from someone who spotted a bloke retrieving (illegal, untaxed) moonshine from a lake. When confronted, the moonshiner played dumb and fed him a line about raking up the moonlight.
      Rf Quantum of Solace: A quantum is the smallest possible unit of something. Think of quantum physics, the branch of physics dealing with the smallest known particles. So, after Vesper Lynn's death, he found solace, but only a quantum of solace.

      @@ao1778 you’re taking it way to literally. Compared to the rest of the crew papi was the least interactive. Also, extrapolating intelligence from UA-cam or any social media comment for that matter isn’t going to go well. Every comment is distilling the content into something funny, dumb, or interesting. Papi is awesome and his reserved nature made him a great addition. Even Scott said he works in the film business but hasn’t watched hardly any movies. Calm down homie.

    With Ghostbusters 2, I tend to think of that as story rather than mistake. Since the slime is letting the object come to life and move (as the Statue of Liberty does later) it makes sense that the toaster would move its feet to dance.

      Supposedly some toasters have little adjustable legs underneath like that for using on uneven surfaces, which they would then have replaced with the pistons to do the jumping visual.

      I think you might need to re-watch the scene... He is led over to the elevator by two stormtroopers, they leave him there, two ugnaughts come out and remove the handcuffs, Han drops seconds later. There's no good shot of it, but if you pause just after the they cut from the ugnaughts being in front of Han to off to the side, his wrists are bracelet free.

      @@brandonfrancey5592 yeah, that's the exact video I woulda used to prove my point cos you can clearly see that Han's wrist are bare when he drops. I'm not gonna time it, but it can't have been on screen for a second, maybe even less. But it's there, clear as day, in this video you've provided, bare wrists. This has also been confirmed by Lucasfilm themselves.

    If you're a fan of Night Rider, you might frequently spot a sky blue VW bug appearing in various scenes-sometimes it's driving by, other times it's parked, or even following the action. It often appears multiple times within a single episode. Additionally, it's usually a giveaway that a stunt is about to happen when you can spot tire (skid) marks on the road, indicating previous attempts or rehearsals.

    • @trekkiejunk
      @trekkiejunk 5 місяців тому

      They are not singular names. It's "Pussy Galore". First and last. Two words. In Austin Powers, her name is "Alotta Fagina." She even says only her first name first, and then says it again with the last name. And it's not just one Bond reference. Most of the Bond movies did that. Jenny Flex, Xenia Onatop, Holly Goodhead, Plenty O'Toole, Chew Mee, etc. -- Seeing as the Austin Powers movies are essentially parodying Bond from beginning to end, you should watch the old 60's and 70's films, then rewatch Austin Powers. You'd probably appreciate it more.

  • @amaruqlonewolf3350

    Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down has a tonne of filming mistakes, both regarding to the props and movie's filming crew appearing periodically in the shots. Two of the infamous prop mistakes in the movie are HMMWV's returning to the base in the movie's opening, and one in the front has its M2HB's barrel flop around crazy as it runs over the bumps, since it's a rubber prop.
    One anachronistic mistake is that Eric Bana's character is carrying around a M4 Carbine on his back at the base, a weapon that wouldn't be issued to the soldiers until 1994 (since the movie takes place in 1993.)
    Filming crew appearing in the shots happens quite a lot there too; you can spot the camera man hiding below a few props when Ewan McGregor's character narrowly misses getting hit by a RPG. During the Mogadishu mile, you can spot the crew on the rooftops. The most infamous one is where the Humvee stops for an old man to pass by. You can clearly see a cameraman in the back of the vehicle.

    I'm not in the movie business, however I did do some work on an active set a while back and I was quite impressed with the technology in use to prevent this sort of thing. Between every take there were a dozen people all scrutinizing their tablets to compare the previous take to the way their particular piece of the next take needed to look. Makeup, costumes, props, sets, etc. Each one making sure everything was set just so before the next take. Having all those tablets with real time feeds from the cameras and able to review exactly how everything was set, and the dedication to perfection of each team member was just so amazing to watch!
    It was also so eye opening to watch. We were there a full day, and I think they probably filmed a total of 15-30 seconds of actual show, and how much of that will make it past editing and into the final product I don't even know. It's easy to criticize the continuity mistakes when you think that things are mostly filmed as one take with only occasional re-takes, but that's just not how it works, things are shot in such INCREDIBLY short sections, and so many times for each one, that it's really amazing we don't see a lot more errors in continuity!

While all of you guys are getting me into film Ive noticed Im becoming much more of an asshole viewer cuz of how much nitpicking I can do with the combined wisdoms and experiences of you guys. But while the understanding has made me more critical of the film it’s also lead me to be more understanding of the process and therefore less critical of the actual person like how you called out the action of the background performer but knew it was not the performer himself. All this to say you guys are cool educators.

    The James Bond films bought the rights to the James Bind titles. The original short story “Quantum of Solace” was a Jamaican governor telling James Bond a story about a particularly nasty divorce in which a man screws over his ex really badly making her completely destitute. The title of the story still doesn’t make much sense but it at least fits the story better. It’s not actually a spy story. It only involves Bond as the guy listening to the story.

Barrels of booze shot full of holes so that booze is spraying out of the holes! Only, real world, the booze sprays are being pumped to keep them going obviously. One of the heroes sees his friend shot and runs at the shooter to hit him with the butt of his gun. He runs by the booze barrels. Only whoever was manning the booze pumps forgot to start the sprayers. No booze sprays. Which wouldn't be noticeable except then they get turned on halfway through the shot. Quantum of Solace is the title of a Fleming-written James Bond book. Same for Moonraker. (Maybe they made sense in the 1950's?) Most of the strangest titles and character names (Octopussy, Tiffany Case, Honey Rider, Kissy Suzuki, Trigger, and Pussy Galore are straight from Fleming's books; Xenia Onatopp and Holly Goodhead are movie-only.). I won't argue that they're not mistakes :) , but they're consistent with Fleming's bizarre naming choices.

    This is called a Discontinuity when the prop master on set failed to document the props on the set with photographs either with instant Polaroid type film used in the past, and more modern digital camera. The images then can be used as a later reference in the event that production is halted for any reason.

    One not quite a mistake that the podcast The Worst Idea of all Time got a lot of mileage out of was in Sex and the City 2 where there's a background extra who, when he's on camera, is first sitting down then drinking drinking drinking then getting up to leave in the span of a 30 second conversation. Coffee Guy: where's he going and what is he up to?

    Come on guys! The Forrest Gump clip didn’t show a mistake! It just proves the set was HAUNTED! I bet it was filmed in the same place Three Men and a Baby was. 😉

    Take a look at Star Trek IV the Voyage Home. When Sulu is sitting in the helicopter and accidentally turns on the wipers. You can see someone's hand moving the wipers.

    I think if you weren't looking for "how they did it" those rods on the bottom of the Ghostbusters toaster could easily be mistaken for the feet of the appliance.

    I remember when I was a kid watching Scarface. In the patio scene, there was a pair of binoculars sitting on the table. Every time they showed one person talking, they were standing up. When they showed the second person talking, they were lying down.

    Two more towards the end of Fifth Element, the priest holds the wrong stone and says it fire. Bruce grabs it and the next shot he’s holding the correct stone.
    In Twister, the red truck’s windshield gets broken and fixed while dodging stuff.

    Your commentary on Dr. Strange reminded me of the multiple appearances of the green VW beetle during the chase scene in Bullitt.
