"I don't know much about Limp Bizkit, I know a little bit more about Integrity." When I saw Head Automatica in Cleveland I was wearing my Integrity shirt and Daryl said into the mic hell yea we love Integrity.
Glassjaw is a special band. I have listened to all their albums countless times. They are one band that after 20 years, from when I got obsessed with them in high school, I still have not tired of. They have consistently remained one of my very favorite bands.
@@luisdavila5721 I never got a tattoo because I never thought I would like the same things years down the line, which is mostly true, but if I got a gj tatt back in 2002, I wouldn't regret it today.
Omg the absolute best!! What was that one forum that had threads with everything to do with Glassjaw and head automatica.... dancing in my blood?? Was that the name of it?? I remember when the worship and tribute Drum and Bass tracks leaked! I got it all in there. His rapping alias Brite One! Damn those were the days
Daryl is the best! glassJaw is the illest band ever. That Apple Store performance he mentions they also played “The Number of No Good Things to Come” which was a song I wish got more shine. Viva glassJaw 💚
Thank you so much man! I really enjoyed this. I’ve been on glassjaws street team In Nassau county in 99-00? Good questions, great answers. Awesome conversation. Kudos!!! Billy
The interviewer ended up never asking anything about Color Film (I love Living Arrangements) and he didn't really press on the new Head Automatica album. "How many tracks are finished?" would've been a good question. Daryl doesn't give lots of interviews so I hoped he would make the most of it. And no question about if he sees another Gj album happening in the future either... Apart from those complaints, I still wanna thank you guys for doing the interview. Daryl was really at ease with you guys, which made for a nice listen.
Disfrutando más de 20 años con su música, ni la espondilitis anquilosante que padezco me hace minimizar el amor por su música. Mis cariños desde Chile.
It's weird knowing that the band is as old as I am, when their sound is still so fresh. I remember hearing ape when I was still in elementary school. Fast forward to high school and in listening to Circa Survive/ Brand New/ MCR. All these bands that are inspired by glass jaw. Just recently discovered glass jaw and it's like discovering music for the first time all over again. South Florida is not part of Florida. It's like a fucking bubble
Props to the interviewer GREAT questions... Daryl could be making so much money off the internet , glassjaw fans crave daryl content he should do a podcast ! He's such a gem to this world, artistically and just in general, and when him and beck are together magic happens
unsure if Daryl comprehends at this point how important glassjaw was to some kids back then. if i could interview Daryl id really want to ask him how he wrote the lyrics on EYEWTKAS and W&T - where were you when you wrote them? who were they about exactly? he probably wouldn't want to answer such questions but I'd still try
Pretty sure EYEWTAS was mostly written or about his time spent in hospitals during his Crohns disease episodes. And also about his GF at the time who cheated on him when he was still straight edge.
Crazy to know that Daryl is not THAT fond for his older albums as any GJ fan is, it shows how an artist doesn't wildly fall in love and obsess with their "masterpiece"
Daryl one of my faves should have asked about “Handsome Boy Modeling School” and working with Dan the Automator and others! Thanks for this know it’s older but obsessed saw them in Maryland in 2008 best band I’ve ever seen live, I am deaf biased lol
Has anyone here ever heard the super early versions of the first Head Automatica album? This girl who was friends with my gf at the time somehow got an advance copy on CD-R. I remember a song that had a chorus that went "I don't want to go to jail, I don't want to go to jail, & say I'm poor" It was more beat driven and less real drums and less guitar. I've never been able to find that version of the HA debut ever again. Anyone know what I'm talking about? (+possibly where to find it) Thanks
@@bluenz that isn't the song I was thinking of, but does contain that same lyrical line. The song I was thinking of is called "Sacramental Narcotics" at least on UA-cam. Check it out if you've never heard it. Thanks for sharing that track, I'd never heard it before.
Dude, I love this guy. I 1st saw them open up for deftones in 2000, I believe, at hard rock. Would freak if I ran into him cause I live near him 😂. I need to see glassjaw or head automatica again
The most important part of this interview is in the last few minutes. I would literally Venmo Daryl and Justin $1,000 USD right now for an updated EP of the Don Fury sessions.
I remember how hard it was to be a fan of glassjaw. They were THE band for me....but a lot of bad luck and a long hiatus and they were always cancelling shows. Material Control was good. Those 2000-2003 live videos dominated my hard drive, just hoping to see them.
I've been a glassjaw fan since I was 15 years old. I was super bummed the Head Automatica show at Bogarts in Cincinnati was cancelled. Were all those shows really canceled due to low ticket sales? Hope that's not true. Hoping to catch either band again.
I played with Simple kill in 2006(?) at the Clubhouse tavern in Sarasota. They we’re cool guys. Jeff was the nicest dude, I can’t remember the singers name but he was very talented and we had a great talk outside
I got to see glassjaw and poison the well in Miami. It was a warped tour show. Neither of those bands come to Nashville much if ever at all so I was happy
This dude doing the interview is like an autistic alien, asking questions like he's tryna understand humans! Lol😅 Daryl tryna hold his composure with the nu metal shit! This is gold!
So there's two Midwestern Stylings acoustic tracks, and I think they were both rehearsals done in the same place because they sound the same but with two differences. One is an mp3 in shitty quality, and towards the end Beck goes "these chords fucking blow, my pinker like ... snapped". The second is from a UA-cam video on Michael Rubin's channel watch?v=IUlunAsfAKQ. Then of course you have the version off the Fadeaway Records sampler with the triphop type beat and then the re-recording that was a Worship & Tribute B-side.
Apple is releasing a iPod. It hold 76 gigs. And they will be releasing it...........This song is called more than words and of now....... Nah this song is called St Alex...
It’s interesting that Daryl refers to him and beck as the last men standing, yet anyone from the bulletin board remembers Todd making a post about how they didn’t see him being in the future of the band and that they kicked him out.
"I don't know much about Limp Bizkit, I know a little bit more about Integrity." When I saw Head Automatica in Cleveland I was wearing my Integrity shirt and Daryl said into the mic hell yea we love Integrity.
Dude, I remember that! It was at the rib cook off 😂
just heard of Integrity the first time through this interview and your comment.. don’t know how i’ve never listened to them before. love it
Not a lot of “integrity” with that band lol. Which is ironic.
glassjaw was my band in high school. still to this day there is nothing like it. love from canada
Oh man, spent many hours in the Glassjaw message boards back in my college days. This band was everything to me.
Glassjaw is a special band. I have listened to all their albums countless times. They are one band that after 20 years, from when I got obsessed with them in high school, I still have not tired of. They have consistently remained one of my very favorite bands.
Me also. Gj have remained the one band i never get tired of listening too also they are amazing live!!!!!
Texas boy here. Got my gj tatt bak in 2002. Glassjaw is Everything to me!! I must go to Miami some day🙂

What a beam of light of a person. Loved listening to him.
Everything you ever wanted to know about silence is still one of my go-to albums after all these years ❤
One of the best singers ever🤓
Agreed

Very happy for Lurk to do this interview. Daryl is the best.

Shout out to bro for trying to get Midwestern n some of those other songs an official release. We stand behind your
I love Glassjaw and Daryl. What a huge influence
Best way to start my day
Daryl for president.

Been absolutely obsessed with Glassjaw since “Everything”dropped, but I’m like two minutes in and I cannot stand the interviewers adderall Jimmy legs.
I hear his wife asks to sleep in a different bed.
Bro, Daryl gives no fucks about none of these bands homeboy is mentioning lol
yo bro do you fuck with simplekill lmao
Glassjaw is still great, loved em all my life - was happy to see Daryl in El Paso after he had to take a break back in like 2013 or something
unsure if Daryl comprehends at this point how important glassjaw was to some kids back then. if i could interview Daryl id really want to ask him how he wrote the lyrics on EYEWTKAS and W&T - where were you when you wrote them? who were they about exactly? he probably wouldn't want to answer such questions but I'd still try

Glassjaw, one of my favorite groups forever

absolutely awesome
damn used to open up for simplekill a bit in 00-01 at culture room. wild throwback.
One of the best to ever do it
Manuel is a bassist I miss in this project. love his style.
Shannon Larkin was also in Wrathchild America

Search Head Automatica demos, just that, i remember a dude who post that songs
The song you're talking about is a demo of "Natural Born Farmer" titled "Nexlev". You can find it on youtube

Great interview! Love Daryl
Head Automatica is the best music he’s ever made. Peak pop rock.
Btw am i crazy or is there a sound of kid calling for their dad @42:11 ??
more than likely, we are in the lobby of a Miami hotel and hundreds of people are around us.

Amazing interview, GJ forever. I'm happy yet somehow sad for them. They should be bigger than Deftones, but I respect GJ for sticking to their g u ns.
The most important part of this interview is in the last few minutes. I would literally Venmo Daryl and Justin $1,000 USD right now for an updated EP of the Don Fury sessions.
Dude, same.
Such a sick demo. I kinda like it the way it is tho, gritty and all.
every show I went to was an unforgetable performance

Friends and I drove from Central Indiana to see that, only to have it canceled. It was hard to be a gj fan.
Hey Daryl just received your 30 year boxset in the mail today and that shit wasn’t wrapped and was all fucked up.
Loved this!
Such a cool dude
I saw Apex Theory twice and both times the singer kicked someone out mid-set for "talking shit". It was weird.
I've been waiting for an actual geometry album for over 20 years. It's so so damn Good
We will probably have to keep waiting forever
Daryl always brings that moshy tempo shit aiiiiiight. The best ❤
Fuckin legend, one side project he did that I absolutely was obsessed with was the band Sports.
Damn shame he never did a follow up

I Love you Daryl ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🇧🇷
26:28 LOL Daryls response
Ayeee 😬😬
big yike
Ayee
Don’t mention🤨
Lol we don't say lost prophets

Wow I wasn't ready a The Apex Theory name drop. Every time I think about them, I remember the photo they took with Morrissey 😂

Also, Atomik is a snitch! He called the cops on Oiler R.I.P.!
Awesome interview
Great interview 👍
The Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale & GlassJAw or Head Automatica should play there again asap!!
This was awesome.
House of Blow!
Florida Kicks ass, Im born and raised

I WANT A GLASS JAW DEFTONES COLLAB! IDK WHY ITS NEVER BEEN DONE
Seriously! Been waiting 25 years for that. Seems like an obvious collaboration.
Slightly dissapointed he didnt really like the first two albums, they were only 18 at the time.,eyewtkas is a masterpiece.
Daryl rules. Couldn’t watch this fast enough
What's with the greyed out look it keeps switching back and forth to? I'd get rid of that. Not a good look.
🤘🖤🤘🖤🤘🖤Soooo sick

GJ/Piebald/Juliana Theory at Culture Room back to back shows same day.
Earth Crisis/GJ at Club Q, I think it was.
Deftones/GJ at Hard Rock/Orlando
The food convo section was lowkey legendary
This dude needs to learn to be more curious. No one cares about you, we wanna hear what Daryl has to say. Get more prepared, ask questions be curious.
I was thinking the same. Way to bring up a dead friend right in the beginning too.
Daryl is God.
PLEASE GO TO THE PHILIPPINES T_T
Bro lives in Miami and never does a GlassJAw headliner here wtf
we discussed that
He was vague about it!
Also the culture room is very much still a venue
