For the cosmic mario or whatever its called, you can make a variable that stores the number of marios costume, and then 3 seconds later (or the difference between cosmic mario and normal mario) the cosmic mario will take that sprite costume from ‘3 seconds ago’ and use it.
Things you should add: - Swinging Rope - Start/Goal To place anywhere - Fuzzys - Ceiling Pokeys - Moving Coins and Blocks - Beach, Volcano, Mountain, Jungle and Outside Ghost House Themes - Addable/Removable Water/Lava/Poison

i've always found dash coins to be a bit pointless in the actual nsmb games, since they just make you backtrack if you want to get the coins, but their interaction with p switches could be very useful in a mario maker game
I could see them being helpful for tight platforming levels that require you to either double back or do-over a section so you can reuse them as guide coins.

I personally feel like this will most likely become a trilogy eventually with an official Super Mario Maker 3 releasing most likely late 2023 or early 2024 (depending entirely if Nintendo reveals a new console after the Nintendo Switch) because there was a 4 year gap between the first and second one. Still it sucks that even with a potential third one we will likely never see all of these amazing additions get added in it (at least not at first)
You're never getting another one. The second one sold miserably and the player base completely abandoned it. Thus Nintendo sees the game as a failure. The game was a huge flop, compared to the first one. The community didn't buy the game nearly as much as the first one, and they sure as hell didn't support the game when it did come out. The sales were terrible and the player base stopped playing it, too. Nintendo stopped support because no one was playing it, and the community itself almost entirely abandoned it after a few months where it sold miserably to begin with. It pisses me off to see people whining about the game not getting updates anymore when it's the Mario Maker community's own fault for not playing the game and buying the game or supporting the game like the first one. The reason Nintendo stopped updates was because the game was technically a sales failure and the player base abandoned it. So there wasn't any point in any future updates. And since it was such a huge failure in sales and no community support for it, the series is dead. Mario Maker 3 is literally never going to happen. It would be a waste if everyone just ends up ignoring that one the way most people ignored the second one. The series is dead.
@@the-NightStar Also SMM1 was on the Wii U, it was dying so they made SMM2 as a way to have SMM on the Switch because no compatibility, we won't get a SMM3 because the Switch didn't flop at all
I feel like 1 thing I’ve always wanted in Mario make was hidden exits, like for super worlds you can set a hidden exit to like skip stages and stuff or to just bring you somewhere different. Also the ability to add warp pipes (like to skip to different worlds) to the super worlds would be amazing
a video that mentions unity several times? nows my perfect chance to brag about being a game dev that coincidentally uses unity! jokes aside though, great video as always, and im excited to see the results of your work, however don't overwork yourself
I'd say the biggest missed opportunity for Super Mario Maker 2 is mixed themes. Sucken ghost ships, flooded castles, lava filled caverns. Even original concepts like burning overworlds, dried up forests, stormy skies, crumbling caverns, castles or ghost houses. So much could've been done yet we got stuck with the vanilla options. Fans have been using Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. DS/Wii to make crazy levels and rom hacks that use interesting level concepts and typically are fun to run through. Not every day you can say Super Mario World is actually a horror game and show them what you mean.
I do not recommend "selling"/distribution to public, you'll get sued by nintendo. What you CAN do, is that "friends" get access to the game because you give it to them, without sharing it to anyone, therefore not being an offical product. "friends" could indicate discord members
2 ideas I have for your game. Broken watch Slow down the timer making it pass one second every two seconds Broken clock Completely freeze the timer for 10 seconds.
This looks incredible! One suggestion I have is to add a lot of powerups. My most wanted being the Propeller Suit and the Bee Mushroom. Keep up the amazing work!
Here is a list of things you can add. • Ghost Door (Fake Door) • Big Boo (if you want) • Ghost Blocks (Fake ?-Blocks) • Dry Bone Beetles • Color Switch and Color Blocks • On/Off Doors + On/Off Plattforms
This is really cool! Just remember if you release this to not give everything that’s part of SMM’s charm else it’s easier coding not finding creative ways to do stuff
great work cant wait to see it in action. If i were to suggst 1 thing from a mario game it would be the bowser statues from super mario world the gray one which only stays in place and the gold one which jumps. They would definitly spice up those castle levels.
I got 5 things: 1. What im about to say might be a bit weird and you will probably think: “no way im adding that” but… you should add cappy from super mario odyssey it will be so cool. 2. What are the speed, gravity, jump force etc variables for mario? 3. Add clear pipes from 3D world 4. Add spin mechanic from mario world. (Idk if you have already added it lol, i havent watched every super smashy maker video) 5. Add ground - pound
Good luck with the project! Try not to get it taken down by Nintendo A potential idea to get around that is to allow sprite customization, like texture packs of sorts, and have the mario sprites be a separate download. The sprites are all over the web so they likely can't take down the pack because of that, and since the game alone wouldn't have a Nintendo IP in it, they couldn't take that down either
This is gonna be a very unknown idea but the Prongo and Draglet from mario 3d land are really cool and underrated enemies in my opinion that I'd love to see again
Hi I have some suggestions for the game. 1: let they player change the power ups given by the red coins. 2: add blue coins, they would be like red coins but activated by a p switch and instead of giving a power up they would trigger a event. 3: add a world maker, but also add hidden levels, short cuts, and let the maker add bonus levels for doing stuff like beating the game and collecting all star coins in a level/word. 4: add more themes and game styles. 5: let the maker allow which characters you can play as and which abilities like wall jump and spin jump. 6: give every character a special ability.
I love the way this fangame looks so far, and I'd love to play this when you've finished! You're doing great and everything added is very fun looking and I'd love to mess around with all the things in this game when it releases!
i know i'm a bit late to this, but this project actually seems really cool! i've always wanted to recreate things like this with more gimmicks so im glad a project like that is being made!
Something I’d Like to see is the Bony beetle. The dry bones’ younger brother. They function as smaller dry bones, walking ,not falling of ledges & crumbling when jumped on before regenerating. However, they’ll periodically stand still & sprout spikes for a moment so Mario cannot jump on them
Wow this looks really great! If you ever think you may need someone to help out with the pixel art, let me know cause I definitely would love to help out if you need it! Can’t wait to see where this project goes. Good luck!
while nsmb2 had many new things you decided to add half of them originated from nsmbds there’s also another coin ring from nsmbU, the green one it has 3-5 sets of triple coins, the second set only spawns after the first set is collected and the super short timer resets for each set
I have a few ideas. It would be cool if you could pick what backround you want or even make your own. Maybe you could also pick what music to use. It could be nice to have the ability to customize bosses. For example, you could turn bowser into dry bowser or change how often he spits fire or throws hammers. Or maybe you could make Lemmy throw the bomb balls from nsmbu.
The game had much more potential left and they killed it like a year later

The reason Nintendo stopped updates was because the game was technically a sales failure and the player base abandoned it. So there wasn't any point in any future updates.
And since it was such a huge failure in sales and no community support for it, the series is dead. Mario Maker 3 is literally never going to happen. It would be a waste if everyone just ends up ignoring that one the way most people ignored the second one. The series is dead.
@@the-NightStar Also SMM1 was on the Wii U, it was dying so they made SMM2 as a way to have SMM on the Switch because no compatibility, we won't get a SMM3 because the Switch didn't flop at all
@@the-NightStar I mean 2 still sold way better than 1 did
@@hogndog2339Yes and I was about to say that
@@KimarnicSplatoon 2 and 3 are on the same console so what makes u think Super Mario Maker 3 won’t be on the switch with Super Mario Maker 2?
0:56 Boo Mushroom?
So we gonna get Super Mario Galaxy Power-Ups?
Idea: Custom timer. The builder decides the length with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 100 (max clock time added to stop infinite levels is 300)
This looks amazing! Subbed and looking forward to more!
This is amazing, I also LOVE game design!
Good luck trying to release it, Nintendo likes suing.
a video that mentions unity several times? nows my perfect chance to brag about being a game dev that coincidentally uses unity!
jokes aside though, great video as always, and im excited to see the results of your work, however don't overwork yourself
Nsmb2 is my entire childhood, so I’m glad you included things from it
This is cool for me but it's still in early development. Nintendo left the game rot there. But I think it's still epic
Yeah, he left over 2 years, since its last update
Can’t wait for you to finish your game, good luck!!!!
Starting with coins is hella choice. Such an important part of level creation, even if it’s not as flashy. Love this and can’t wait to see more
Good Luck on the game, I can tell your putting lots of work into it!
Smashy: mentions unitys particle system
Dani: i have been summoned
Thanks for showing this on your channel, got extremely confused when I saw the channel in the server
This looks so cool! Looking foward to updates to the game you are making!
2 ideas I have for your game.
Broken watch
Slow down the timer making it pass one second every two seconds
Broken clock
Completely freeze the timer for 10 seconds.
This looks incredible! One suggestion I have is to add a lot of powerups. My most wanted being the Propeller Suit and the Bee Mushroom. Keep up the amazing work!
Propeller Suit is already in the game. i think you meant the powerup to be in every game style?
This has insane potential! Great work so far.
Personally, I'd like to see the penguin suit added.
I loved it! You really show your love for SMM and your ideas look like they are from Nintendo
Here is a list of things you can add.
• Ghost Door (Fake Door)
• Big Boo (if you want)
• Ghost Blocks (Fake ?-Blocks)
• Dry Bone Beetles
• Color Switch and Color Blocks
• On/Off Doors + On/Off Plattforms
• Thousand separator (English: commas, Spanish: commas or dots, France: spaces or dots, and more)
• Millisecond accuracy to 3 decimal places
The brickhead sprites look perfectly fine, well done dude
it doesnt fit the smb1 theme tho
This is really cool! Just remember if you release this to not give everything that’s part of SMM’s charm else it’s easier coding not finding creative ways to do stuff
great work cant wait to see it in action. If i were to suggst 1 thing from a mario game it would be the bowser statues from super mario world the gray one which only stays in place and the gold one which jumps. They would definitly spice up those castle levels.
This Unity game u r making is really cool! Subed!
I got 5 things:
1. What im about to say might be a bit weird and you will probably think: “no way im adding that” but… you should add cappy from super mario odyssey it will be so cool.
2. What are the speed, gravity, jump force etc variables for mario?
3. Add clear pipes from 3D world
4. Add spin mechanic from mario world. (Idk if you have already added it lol, i havent watched every super smashy maker video)
5. Add ground - pound
The Things We Want In SMM2:
1. Long ? Block
2. Coin Reward Block
3. Gold Block
4. Dash Coin’s
5. Red Coin’s/Red Coin Ring
6. Gold Ring
7. Bubble Coin
8. Star Coins
9. Roulette Block
10. Timer’s
11. Ball n’ Chain
12. Swinging Axe
13. Thwhimp
14. Whomp
15. *Cosmic Mario*
16. Meteors
17. Small & Large Icicles
18. Long Donut Blocks
19. Icy Donut Block’s
20. Count Lift
21. Repeat Lift’s
22. Warp Box In Other Styles
All of these things are in the Fangame
@@canestaring Yes, IK
Good luck with the project! Try not to get it taken down by Nintendo
A potential idea to get around that is to allow sprite customization, like texture packs of sorts, and have the mario sprites be a separate download. The sprites are all over the web so they likely can't take down the pack because of that, and since the game alone wouldn't have a Nintendo IP in it, they couldn't take that down either
In super mario bros wii, there is a special area where you fight HUGE bowser and bowser jr, you should make that fight and make that background/theme
I love this so far!! One thing i suggest tho, is the slopes that Mario runs up. Definitely something needed in Mario maker
A lot of these new update items are already in a game called levelhead. 100% recommend
omg he finally made the game!!!
Thank you for putting in actual Star Coins, its so annoying that Mario Maker 2 doesn't have any
Thanks for making something to expand creativity what a legend
This looks great! Hope to play it when it comes out!
It'll have a playable Princess Peach. And Daisy, and Rosalina, and Pauline.
I love the way this fangame looks so far, and I'd love to play this when you've finished!
You're doing great and everything added is very fun looking and I'd love to mess around with all the things in this game when it releases!
This game looks so cool! I definitely will get it when it comes out! 😄
Sorry but i think ever if he does he gets banned due nintendo copyright (i know)
THIS LOOKS SO SICK!!! AWOSOME WORK
i know i'm a bit late to this, but this project actually seems really cool! i've always wanted to recreate things like this with more gimmicks so im glad a project like that is being made!
cool stuff, man. i never considered the giant icicles or long donuts. great ideas. i wish you were in charge of mario maker at nintendo. XD
This is the coolest Unity game I’ve seen made in months bro
damn, this looks awesome, can't wait until I can get my hands on this fan game before nintendo takes it down. good work!
This looks Really cool! Try to add some acceleration to some enemies since they look bland but this project looks really promising!
Good luck!
while nsmb2 had many new things you decided to add
half of them originated from nsmbds
there’s also another coin ring from nsmbU, the green one
it has 3-5 sets of triple coins, the second set only spawns after the first set is collected and the super short timer resets for each set
this is so cool! keep working on it
The fact that one person can do this but a team for a multi million-dollar company doesn't. Awesome job smashy
Very cool!
Are we going to get some sort of build of this game any time soon?
This is really good, nice job!
The sprites actually look pretty good!
Hey, your discord link doesn't work...
It’s expired
You... You made the classic things Nintendo didn't add so perfectly.
These couldn't have turned out any better.
