What will be the best part of Mario Maker 3D?
Drop a Metal Mario on that sub button.
I think the fact that you can have so much more possibilities in 3d.

Can you make more levels like this, I loved this creativity!

A Mario Maker 3D trailer would blow everyone’s minds! Imagine the ‘D’ falling into frame and the camera turns to reveal a 3D logo!!

Who said Mario Maker 3D wouldn’t work? I’ve been dreaming of a Mario Maker for Super Mario 3D World since Mario Maker 2.
Short sighted people, short sighted people are the ones who say that. The existence of Mario Builder 64 shuts them all down thankfully.
exactly its insane i had an argument about it w some dumb people
mario maker
16:13 You can add a star to a boss. Just grab a star and put it on the same tile as the boss, and it should tie the star to it.
only problem with this, having people have to unlock new features would be the worst possible thing to do. all things should be accessible from the start.
That’s why SMM2 had all things unlocked except the Hammer, unlocked by completing the story.
@@legacyeazero3651Super-Ball-Flower and Master Sword are also unlocked.
@@legacyeazero3651correction, the super ball flower was also unlockable
@@superyoshiparker8979 yeah i forgot about that
@@legacyeazero3651idk man, unlocking things in MM1 was pretty fun, you got a new item per day. But yeah i understand that its not the point of the game
I really think that Nintendo should allow custom messages for the NPCs. They're an important part of the immersion in the levels that make them feel unique and lived in.
Also the Switch has a filter that prevents the use of bad words. It doesn't let you confirm the message if it detects a bad word, so it would be fine.
It’s not enough especially for a game for children. People can find ways around it as well.
@@paulakroy2635 What do you mean, it's not enough ? You literally can't use actual bad words. The only alternative is either censoring or using a less vulgar alternative. And don't worry, Nintendo makes sure you can't use them at all.
For example there was this situation in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet a few months ago where you couldn't name Pecharunt "Dokutaro" (his file name), because it has "kut" in it, which is Dutch for "p*ssy"
It's Nintendo, they're very cautious with this kind of stuff. They pay attention to their family friendly image a lot. Some could say even too much. Their anti bad word system is sound, I'm sure.
yeah we probably won't have a Roblox issue with Nintendo, and even if they find a new way to swear, the level could easily get taken down and the word bypass could just be completely blocked.
@@Kirkonator5000 Exactly
@@Oceane1803 Yeah, like just make an experimental phase, get feedback, and censor what needs to be censored, unlike that one time I was playing a restaurant game where you kill the owner and become the owner, where someone just somehow directly said the N word.
Nintendo's gonna know. They have better moderation LOL
Not like there's gonna be live chat filtering
I feel like in most user created levels would be horribly designed the camera would be jank and lead to a lot of blind jumps and it would have tones of soft lock points
They could just code it so you can't get the camera past walls or make it first person
meh easily solvable
@@blockwearingman 3d Mario games have always suffered from poor cameras, Mario odyssey uses box colliders to move the camera around when in small areas. This could implemented all this into a level builder but it will be pretty complex for children and giving users control over the camera could lead to some horrific levels. Every time Mario walks into a small area of room the camera would need to either faze through the wall up close to Mario or make the wall invisible or make Mario visible behind the wall. None of these options are ideal. I could imagine a troll level where you travel through a small room and get attacked by things you cannot see.
Nintendo must make Mario Maker 3D once the Switch 2 launches.
facts
Hold up, there's actually gonna be a switch 2?
I’m glad someone finally covers the editor because in most clickbait Mario Maker 3D trailers the player literally just drags a 3d object onscreen and it’s somehow right where they want it
For signs and NPCs, you could also just implement a sensor that automatically blocks inappropriate words and an AI translator for cross region sharing
Wait until Mario Maker 4D:
Complete with every game in the world!

A old 3D freegame I played many years ago, called "Turbo Lode", also used this kind of level editor, it's really easy to make 3D levels with that!
i have to say that i was sceptical at first about 3d maker, but now i see the vision and how easy it would be to use
The issue isn't that it can't work from a design or technological stance, the issue is that Nintendo would not do that.
Why not? It doesnt seem too bad
@@brysonbryson5306 3D Mario maker means they will lose sales on the real 3D Mario game for Switch. Also Super Mario Maker 2 didn't sell as well as Nintendo was hoping.
@@macksnotcoolnot at all how that works.
@@sptflcrw8583 Yes. That is precisely how that works.
@@macksnotcoolHow? Mario Maker 2 certainly didn’t affect sales for Wonder. Also how do you know how Nintendo feels about Mario Maker 2’s sales?
You'd only really need one style for a 3D game. The different 2D styles all represented advancements in the game engine, from 8 bit, (SMB) to expanded 8 bit (SMB3) to 16 bit (SMW) to 64 bit (NSMBU), and 3DW being a conversion of an original 3D game. So the graphics (sprites, etc.) and sound effects were vastly different from game to game. With the 3D games, from Sunshine up, it's all 64 bit, and the same basic graphics; it's just the objects (backgrounds, items, etc.) that are different. So you could have one style, and just choose which items to represent whichever game. Like you could make either flat groumd, or the little worldlets for the Galaxys, the different scenes of Odyssey, etc. the Fludd pack or other specific powerups. Havng one style with all those selections would probably take up less data space than separate styles.
The only 3D game with different graphics is 64, which was the early polygon graphics, and with this new 64 Builder out now, we already have that.
i think it would be a great idea to add a "advanced building mode" for pro builders where you could import 3D models and add custom scripts and music to your level, and there could be some pre-made scripts so there will be lots of amazing levels.
@@wyattmoore6897 Import 3D models ? Nah they'd never do that, there would be too much possibility to import inappropriate stuff.
People who think it’s impossible should play Disney Infinity.
Not me
literally forgot about that lol
Is not being able to switch to 3D world in the middle of building your level really the worst thing about Mario Maker 2? I don't know about everyone else, but before I even start building a level I generally have a general idea of what I want the level to be like which will generally determine which game mode it will be from the very beginning.
I was also thinking that lol. I 100% agree with you.
@@Eternalwarpuppy Yeah, but 3D world doesn’t really have much differences that can’t be implemented in other modes to feel like having it separate really adds anything. Especially since it’s the only game style that’s in a special category. Hopefully if there is a MM 3D 3D World would be upgraded to a 3D style with 64, Odyssey, and possibly Galaxy. I would think they’d be in a separate category considering that a level being 3D should be decided from the start instead of switching halfway through.
They’ve already made a 3D game creator with Game Builder Garage. I think what’s seen in the video is a very Mario Maker style thing to do, and is a simplified fun experience. Game Builder Garage is a lot harder to get into, and the way boxes layer over each other in the X and Y axis can make it harder to make it harder to see.
something important you missed about controlling mario is its not just about tricks like wall jumping, but general physics and reactions, like how he responds to turning or collisions, minute responses like these are different for each game and will mess with expectations in how mario is supposed to move
mario maker makes every style control like new u, which i think is fine for 2d where the number of possible movements is significantly lower, and new u has a more polished physics system than the others, which are much older games with rougher controls
although mario 64 is and old game with rough physics, its so well known that people will be caught off guard if it controls like odyssey, and vis versa odyssey would not feel smooth with 64s controls
each game was designed for their own sake and not with a homogenised multi-game engine in mind
Yeah I think it’d be better to just have one game style to avoid this issue
0:02 They’re not really haters. They just think it would be less easy to use than the 2D Version. It’s not impossible but it’s just too complicated. People wouldn’t know how to make 3D levels because they are so used to designing 2D levels.
Did you not watch the full video? He has counter points to what you said
@@chaomasterzero4610 I just don’t think his points are very convincing.
you are a hater
So? When Mario Maker 1 came out, people didn't know how to make 2D levels, and NOW look at what people are doing. It would just be Mario Maker 1 all over again.
@@torterratortellini6641to put it simply, if these people can figure out minecraft, they sure as he'll can figure out a dumbed down version of it (this)
I love you version of Mario maker 3d, and your level looks fun I can’t wait to see the perfected version 🤩
As a modder of both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D World, I do think 3D is still impossible even with the ideas you mentioned. At most I can somewhat see a Mario 64 version but no more then that, the other games have way to much detail in the 3D models and there are so many things that just wouldn’t work. Using blocks could only go so far, and how would you make planets that didn’t aren’t just extremely blocky, or yet how would materials work? Or even Gravity work? You know how complicated gravity is to set up?!Every “bean” in the Galaxy games have 3 different extremely precise Gravity areas, and even if Nintendo made say a BeanGravityArea, all the beans would just look the same as they can’t be modelled out to be unique. Not to mention all the other issues not related to models. How would launch star paths work? Just setting them up in SMG is a pain and getting Bézier curves to do what the player wants would be really tricky, and not to mention, the game would have to have ViewGroupAreas made by the game which is also pretty impossible to do sadly. Even the most basic things, such as adding a Boss Fight, would be a nightmare. How would Meowser even work? If he used the 3D World version, you would need a huge tower and it would just feel like the original game, if they turned the Mario Maker 2 variant into 3D and used that, it would literally be the most depressing boss fight ever as it would just stay there. Mario Maker and Mario Maker 2 are already very limited as making an editor that people who never have done level design before would be hella hard, and locking it into 2D makes that concept so much easier. If people really want a Mario Maker 3D, just use Mario Builder 64, or better yet , actually mod the game, it’s more fun that way instead of wanting a Mario Maker 3D which if somehow ever got made it would be horrid and all we would have a million flip-panel and beat block levels with grass blocks.
I don't see editing in 3d be hard. I see it being pretty hard to render compared to 2d Mario Maker. 2d Mario Maker already downgraded a lot of sprites, and NSMBU completely got spritified.
They could also have global leader boards for how many stars you have
I think for the text it should be like Dark Souls / Elden Ring where you have phrases and words to mix and match messages such as: "Beware, X is below" and X can be "Bottomless Pit", "Enemy", or "Treasure" for instance
I have a few very niche issues, but mainly just the way the camera and placement works in what you described, but other than that good job at laying out a foundation for it(I already was on board but still useful to have a pre-existing idea)
I would really rather the next Mario maker to be 2d, just because I love how Mario wonder looks so much. I guess they would probably make a 2d Mario maker game at some point after that.
If a Mario Maker 3 comes out, SMB2 (as an extra game style) and SM Wonder (as a normal game style) should definitely be included.
A Mario Maker 3D game (actually made by Nintendo) would be very interesting. Also, Arrowstotle Maker 3D Deluxe Switch Lite will be the best game ever.
Getting 3d bosses that would be sick
i loved mario maker when i first played the 1st because i could play it on my ds and play it anywhere. that made me happy. in mario maker 2 i loved it because i thought it was cool seeing all of the new features but with sprites for the OG mario game ( Super Mario Bros. )
I will hope I’ve been waiting years for this. I think they should add stuff like the Wario head chasing you, 2 player, l is real star, and a creepy mode to make great references to creepypastas.
haha,
that's not happening
Imagine they are working on it and this video has everything they added
Yep, I know that one Mario 64 builder game.
Most difficult thing would be sloped terrain. They could do it with a painter of some kind but they'd still need to limit it in some way
“a designer’s dream is a developer’s nightmare”
I like this idea but I’m pretty sure Nintendo wouldn’t ever make it and even if they would it definitely wouldn’t be as cool
“Building in 3D is too complex 😩”
Game builder garage:
it is way too complex lmao, most people without any prior knowledge wont be able to make anything impressive
That’s a cool level! I do have a question unrelated question though: Why are you currently streaming past videos on a loop?
It might be a strategy to get watch hours.
@@ninjaydes That’s what I’m assuming, but I hope not. That’s the kind of thing I would lose respect for him over
It's a lovely playground of a level, but to people trying that stage for the first time, there could be a clear path to follow for collecting red coins & more lenient timing on some of the challenges (avg player just barely clears on 1st attempt, as opposed to someone with knowledge on how to clear just barely makes it).
Nintendo is too greedy to make us play galaxy, sunshine, and odyssey for only 60 bucks
11:04 i feel like you should be able to do it with the wing cap so you can get the star in 2 ways🙏🏼🔥
There's an algorithm ( more a technique than an algorithm ), called sine wave function collapse, in a nutshell let's say you placed a water block surrounded by ground, the algorithm automatically will pick a model based on the situation, for instance you can have a grassy theme and water connects in a small shore, but then you have a jungle theme and it connects through mud, kinda like Minecraft fences but much more complex, you only need to worry about placing the base layer, all the flare and models to make it look right are picked automatically, paired with simple grid-snapped props like bushes, fences or ramps, ans you get yourself a very robust system to make levels, in fact Dota 2 editor used this exact technique to make higher up places have more decor, not to mention Super Mario 3D world is very blocky if you think about it.
If we ever get SMM3D, I'd probably try to remake Sonic Adventure 2.
Arrowstotle Maker 3D Deluxe U Switch Lite will be the best game ever.
...
Mario maker 3d would probably have the hardest levels in mario maker history because of how much you can do with these games
Im sure at least one of you have heard of this but theres this semi obscure roblox game called robot 64 with a simple 3D editor, i feel like mario maker 3D should work similarly
Arrowstotle Maker 3D Deluxe U Switch Lite will be the best game ever.
Simpleflips is popping off
Probably never gonna get another game like 3D land, so i hope they do make 3D maker and add 3D land stuff
I learned blender at 11 years old so I think I can learn how to make a level in a 3d Level creator
You’re good at Super Mario 64 :D
The messages could be premade parts like in the dark souls games
Honestly, I could see it working. Nintendo would have to handle it delicately and ensure that the 2D editor still works. Nonetheless, I have seen Mario Builder 64 before and have wanted to get my hands on it myself. It looks fun!
Alternatively, something more like Forge in Halo, which has worked on controller since 2007.
With the next console , i hope we will be able to create our own galaxies , or a Galaxy 3 👌
Yesss,insane!
You forget the Most important reason for why it probably will never happen. Do you know how profitable 3D Mario Games are & how much a 3D Mario Maker risks cutting those profits if it ever happened. 2D Mario was at a temporary dead end when Mario Maker was released & it took a decade for Nintendo to come up with Wonder after the New Series Games ended. I see Kaze being hired to make a New Super Mario 64 game by Nintendo as more likely than a full 3D Mario Maker.
This is countered with the fact they made a mario maker 2 but made another 2d mario game after it came out
Dude MM2 underperformed according to Nintendo, that's why they killed it after a while. Believe it or not, but people are more likely to buy a new, quality, original Mario game rather than a level builder of inconsistent levels and samey visuals.
It worked with 2D Mario just fine, don't see why a 3D one would be any different.
I think they’ll be fine if they just add Mario 64 and just focus on adding more items and enemies to the 2D. This way they can still market it as 3D without much risk
By far the biggest reason Nintendo wouldn't make this is that people could make levels that rival the ones Nintendo would make. This would cause less sales in future Mario games
I would honestly love this game
It’s not the building part that’s impossible, it’s the playing part
Now we need a sonic maker 3s
Imagine they made mario maker 3D but its like mario 3D land or world
3:29 What about Mario Sunshine? It doesn’t have enough level themes.
they can make them up
smb didn't have a proper jungle theme before, so they made one in smm2
I feel like this would work better as part of Mario Maker 3. Don't tell me that's too much content for one game, they added an entire world map maker just as a freebie.
Another comment had an awesome idea that I also had of the trailer having the reveal of 3D games in the game's title. "Super Mario Maker 3....D"
If dreams is possible then a Mario maker 3D is definitely possible
It could be like JWE2 (Jurassic World Evolution 2)
I think fludd would be perfect as a powerup :)
I think implemting an elden ring like message board would be smart and then having a custom option of course
they made game builder garage after all, but you can only edit the space in 2d for some reason...
Also 3d mario maker has to have something like rails the shells and stackable enemies
It should be able to switch between 2d and 3d, so you can play both modes
But imagine how horrible some levels especially troll levels could get in 3D
0:58 so I am a kid and ive been making levels in mb64 and yea honestly it was easier for me to make good 3d levels then 2d levels mainly thanks to stars
1. The level edit should use isometric grade.
2. The stages SHOULD be platarfom based like 3D Mario land/World
This Will be better than a openword 64 style game
1:33 I swear I've seen this scene before
That's cool. Arrowstotle Maker 3D Deluxe U Switch Lite will be the best game ever.
I personally think SMM3D is going to come out on the next console, as SMM1 came out on the Wii U, and SMM2 came out on the Switch.
Bro, nobody's forcing the haters to play Mario Maker 3D if it comes out. I think there are a lot of people who want such game
Cool level, by the way! ;D
You have to put in star yourself
And if they would want smooth terrain editing, they could just replicate Dreams.
Imagine they suprise everyone by adding Mario Maker 3 To the Switch 2
We gonna shout out to the person who made super Mario marker 64 for this
I think if mario maker has a 3d maker i think there shouls be 4 styles only and in the form of dlc add more features like mario maker 1. Start off more simple and thwm exapnd on tue features in updates
Its kinda true, but i feel like a Mario Maker 3D will never happen since they can just recreate 3D Games level and Nintendo will lose money, they can already do it in SMM but it's 2D and Nintendo knows 2D is kinda bad nowadays
this take is so bad because mario wonder is a thing
Who the hell is buying new 3D mario games just for the basic terrain of the level
I accept the arrowstotle challenge for the final final taste
Mario maker 4D next?
I would buy a switch and the game just for it
I always think about how if Disney Infinity worked then a 3D Mario Maker could
I would say that it would be better that they just make Mario Maker 3 with 3D mode.
At least have all the special Stiers sterilization things
I love how you demonstrated the ease of making flaming hot garbage levels.
That's how it is in Mario maker now lol
what do you mean mario maker 3D will exist? it already is. *shows a copy of mario maker on the 3DS*
I think they should make a 2d and 3d maker for the 3rd game, 2d for less advanced players and 3d for more advanced players.
4:30 What about poison?
(11 days ago) i really hope that the next super mario maker game will be mario make 3d
Oh god those precision challenges but with triple the directions? Nahhh...
Imagine having to hit like up left down right in a loop with near/exact frame perfect precision with a jump every like 5.2 seconds...
Its unfortunate there would be glitches in the game so Nintendo would rather never release it than have people play the game in their own way.
i get that its possible but its probably a little complicated for nintendo's target demographic, would take longer because there is a third dimension and basically any way to simplify the building would just make it really limiting. the only thing i can see it working is if it was something closer to old fortnite creative where there are plenty of simple options for the less advanced players but many more complicated tools to make better stuff for the more experienced players. also, themes arent just a hurdle because of the objects, the way bigger issue is the physics. they basically have to redo most physics engines entirely to make it meet modern standards while not being identical to the other styles. also, the resetting between styles is basically guaranteed as almost every 3d mario game has drastically different artsyles and enemies and making all those 3d models just takes up even more time, unlike in the previous games where there was only those for nsmbu which already mostly existed and those for 3d world which was seperate and didnt have to carry over between themes anyway
TL;DR just too much work and time for nintendo to even consider making
