This video is so helpful. I also appreciate that the ingredients are practical and easily locatable at my local grocery! I would love to see more videos like this. Thanks for sharing!
Same goes for spices! Indian and Middle Eastern spices, even at mainstream grocery stores (but go support your local Asian grocer!) sell at volume for way less than the tiny little white people spice jars just a few aisles over.
Being from the south, beans and cornbread is my happy place. When I come home from being on the road for a while and eating a lot of takeout, first thing I need is some beans and cornbread. 👍🏻
Love this! Great recipes and a reminder to get back to my cheap vegan roots. Mock meats and cheeses are everywhere but it’s important to get back to the basics.
Thanks so much for this. I’m vegan and I don’t eat enough beans. I’m always thinking I need more protein and this is a way to do it. Can you share your orange tofu Panda Express alternative recipe? You look beautiful today.
One suggestion if you would like to incorporate more beans is to invest in the Instant Pot. You can make beans in a fraction of the time and have enough leftover to freeze and thaw whenever you need them in a recipe or dish. Lentils are also high in protein and cook even faster. They can be used in so many ways, the possibilities are endless. Just a few tips lol.
I found a recipe called secret ingredient tomato soup and the secret ingredient was white beans blended into the soup. No one knew it was in there and it was so much heartier than regular tomato soup!
It’s the new year and yes Im on the weight loss journey like most people are this time of year. I am already vegan. I have been for a long time but there is a problem. I’m a fat Vegan! I need to clean up my diet. Your channel is amazing! I have watched you on and off for several years now. I have bought your book and made several recipes that turned out absolutely amazing. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos!
Thanks for these! And congratulations on being nominated for the VegNews best vegan UA-cam channel. Lots of stiff competition but I voted for you because I not only love your channel, but I actually MAKE your recipes. You are looking so happy, radiant, and glamorous lately. I’m so happy for you!
You’re exactly right. I started following you because I wanted to add more vegetables and appropriate whole grains into my diet. As I scoured the Internet and UA-cam, I thank God that I came across your channel. Your food, presentation wise, is very beautiful. And I expressed to people a lot that you shit now only enjoy the food you eat you should enjoy the side of the food that you eat. It’s all a part of the experience of eating. Oh.x I’ve made a few recipes. Taste good too! I love you use a lot of spices, which adds flavor.
All these dishes are delicious. I cook with a lot of beans every week. I love tofu, but my hubby not so much, but your suggestion on how to preparing crispy tofu just might be the winner! Thank you
Love the videos! Helping so much during my looooong transition period. Can I ask you to consider doing a video on making different “chia jams”. Interested to see your take on different recipes and add a bit of ‘soul’ to some of them.
Perfect timing, right after we’ve spent all our money on holidays/new year purging/updating 😂 Seriously thank you! I need this for this month. I also have 2 birthday kids in January so this is perfect 🙌🏽😍
I love these kind of vegan meals on a budget videos, thank you so much for taking the time making this video, all while being so educational, thank you for being such a strong advocate for the animals as well 💚🥺 you were a big inspiration for me going vegan, I would watch your videos before I was even vegan like 4 years ago, then about over 2 years ago, I finally made the complete switch, with the help of your words and my amazing bf encouraging me. So thank you ❤️❤️❤️
I love your channel name! I enjoyed watching several of your videos. Your channel has a lot to offer. I also make cooking videos so I am always looking for new recipe ideas and to learn new tips and techniques. I love being able to learn from talented creators like you! I wish you much success in 2022! Thank you for sharing!
Buy grains and beans in bulk too! I get a "couple of handfulls" of several grains in bulk so I can mix them for interest at home. I prefer canned beans most of the time, but for dal, split peas and lentils I also get bulk so I am paying for food and not packaging.
Hii your vegan videos are great and super wholesome!! Btw, i'm also a big fan of weddings and i really love your cake tasting video. I'm just really curious which filling did you choose for your wedding cake? Thanks😃🥰
Hi! These recipes look delicious! 😄 what would you recommend substituting for beans in recipes? I used to love garbanzos and all sorts of beans but I’ve developed a lot of digestive issues during my life that require me to eat low FODMAP and gluten free. Would love any tips you have for getting in more protein in meals/substituting things like beans and lentils.
Hey I can relate to digestive and I did lowFODMAP temporarily. I recommend still doing the small low-fodmap-portions of beans. I think 1Tbsp garbanzos per meal is the “green light” amount during the elimination phase. By continuing to eat them the good bacteria in the gut will learn those digestible material are friends and it will likely feel better and promote health over time. Other proteins that are green-light in larger amounts are tempeh and (well-drained) firm tofu. If you’re interested, I can recommend some vegan/lowfodmap/gut heath guides that have been really informative for me :) wishing you calm digestion and happiness!
@@K12345ab Hi! Thank you so much for replying! I’ll definitely have to try incorporating small amounts of beans back into my diet. I’ve missed hummus soooo much. I’d love to hear more about these gut health guidelines :) thank you!
Thank you so much for this segment. I'm eating more beans. My tummy becomes full of gas... I drink ginger tea to calm my belly. What is your advice to help cut down on flatulence when preparing beans?🙏🏾❤️💪🏾
The main thing is soak the beans overnight. Change the water at least once & give them 1 last rinse before you actually cook them. Discard any broken pieces or debris. If you aren't used to eating beans...start with a tablespoon or 2 & each week add a cpl more until you can eat at least a cup a day without discomfort. Beans are LIFE 💘 Good Luck & Stay Blessed!
Happy to see you spreading the message of the affordability of going vegan - all it takes is a little effort, and you'll actually *save* money in the end!
Yes - for reference, Asian populations have the highest consumption of soy products, and also some of the lowest incidence of chronic disease in the world. The reverse is true of high animal product, western diets, where we have the highest rates of heart disease, diabetes, etc.
Lentils (green and red are most common), Tofu of course, TVP (textured vegetable protein), and Quinoa! Asian supermarkets also have a crazy amount of cheap, soy-based products! Some more expensive options are also Edamame and Butler soy curls (my favorite)
Try homemade Indian recipes almost all recipes are vegetarian and easy to convert vegan.. Don't go for "white Indian food " 🤣like chicken tikka masala.. It's not authentic Indian food
The black bean coconut stew has been a favorite since you first posted the recipe! I make it frequently throughout the year for weekly meal prep,
This video is so helpful. I also appreciate that the ingredients are practical and easily locatable at my local grocery! I would love to see more videos like this. Thanks for sharing!
Another tahini tip, I've found tahini from my Asian grocery store to be the highest quality and the cheapest that I've tried!
Didn’t know that! Thanks for the tip! 😃

You definitely should try all of them. Just as yummy as they are affordable.

Take enzymes with them. I use Dr Mercola brand. It seems to help.
Try soaking them overnight first or longer..... just change the h20 every 24hr.....Use tip for canned and dry!
l didn't find black beans in my conutery Can I put green beans?
also can l skip chili?

Was that a 3 quart instant pot
Does anyone put their beans in a .... what's that thing called ...pressure cooker before consuming?
Is there a sub for tofu? I honestly do not want to eat tofu.

While I love me some of all kinds of beans, the older I get the less they love me back! 😩
