Hi Sarah! I usually don’t comment, but I must tell you I have been watching you a very long time and you have always been one of my favorite vegan UA-camrs, your content, your food-Excellent!!! And your fella, very nice addition😉
As an Indian I am so impressed with your dhaal. It looks delish. Just one thing though if you are open to suggestions. In india we don't put tomato paste or vegetable stock cube in any of our curries. We use fresh tomatoes and puree it and use that instead. But if you are not looking for authentic flavors then yeah you can change it up. 😊 hope my comment didn't offend you. Btw I love your channel. I love to let it play in the background while I am cooking in the kitchen 🤗❤
I just stumbled upon this video for CHEAP vegan meals that actually taste good and I'm so excited to try them out! The fact that they're one-pot meals makes them even more appealing. Plus, it's great to know that there are easy and affordable options for eating vegan. Thanks for sharing!
You could bring more of that zuppa toscana flavour into that soup with the addition of some fennel seeds when you put in the chili flakes and oil. That flavour of fennel seeds from the Italian sausage is important for that flavour profile in the soup
I really like how you explained the simple processes that are happening but are important to the process, like adding celery and onion together, the browning process, and cooking off the tomato paste for long enough. I love making soups, especially because having a big tub of soup in the fridge allows you to use it as a sauce, a soup, or make a soupy stir fry during the week! I will often make a tomato soup and then use a bit of it to make shakshouka for breakfast, have a bowl of soup for dinner, etc. So versatile!
I love how down to earth you both are. This is real food you can cook everyday and not something that somebody on insta tells you you SHOULD be eating. I love fresh herbs but is do exactly the same, buy bunches with the best of intentions and only use half, currently starting a little windowsill herb garden, hoping its the answer, its going to be basil heavy because i REALLY love pesto! thanks for your content.
I love fresh herbs too and guilty of doing this same😢...but I've seen someone suggest you chop them up, add olive/coconut oil and freeze them in ice cube trays and use as you need. Hope this helps...I'm going to try it too
One way I can save my fresh herbs if I don't use them all is to lay them out flat on a lined baking sheet, set my oven on a very low temp (warm-120 degrees F.) and let them go for several hours until they are completely dried out. I either seal them in a Mason jar or if you have a vacuum sealer, you can seal them in small packets and label. Less expensive than buying them in little jars at the market.
I made the carrot lentil soup for a potluck at work today and it was delicious!! I had a bowl tonight and put a dollop of hummus on it! oh my goodness it's the bomb!!!
These recipes both look so delicious and cozy! Thank you for sharing different options; it’s nice to have both a shelf-stable and specialty/mock meat option. Please don’t use Chaokoh; they’ve been linked to monkey labor as recently as this summer. I had no idea this was a thing either until I saw a shared article earlier this year. Much love
I make my soups in a very similar way. One thing I have grown to love is at the end, when you add the lemon to brighten the lentils, I use Umiboshi Plumb Vinegar. It is not expensive and it's always on hand.
This looks so good! I'm looking for things we can cook on Friday and eat over the weekend. The kale and white bean soup sounds perfect, if I can just get the kids on board.
I made both soups, I am a lover of all veggies, geens, and lentils, so I thurouly enjoyed them both. They both had amazing flavors. i will definitely be adding these recipes to my rotation and recipe book. Thank you !
I love your videos, great content. Great recipes. I noticed you took the leaves off the Kale, all the nutrition is in the stalk. You can parboil it & make it tender. If you chop it finely it will cook tender. I'm a G/ F chef. I learned about the Kale stalk, from another chef on UA-cam. 😊
Another excellent video Sarah and I will be trying both the soups in the instant pot using the saute setting for the onions then after the remaining ingredients are in the instant pot the soup setting for 15 minutes to stir it ( check if additional liquid is required) afterwards then back on soup for a final 15 minutes. I love 😍 spicy food too. Love 🥰 the video and love 💞💕Sarah & Eric.
if you don't use your fresh herbs you can add them to oil and leave them for a month. the oil will be amazing. or we have a dehydrator and put them in there. or you could dry them in a low temp oven. so if you don't use them up find a way to preserve them. Can't wait to try these soups. They look amazing! especially the first one. We would use the beyond sausage.
that depends on what herb you are drying and what temp you are using. soft ones like basil and parsley will take less than harder ones like rosemary or thyme. you should be able to find some guide charts on the web. I would start with 8 to hours and then check for dryness and go from there. hope that helps @@cdee9214
4:40 I dont know if its traditional, but I had this (also vegan version) soup and they added Rosemary. I actually dislike Rosemary, but in this soup, it just worked.
Hi Sarah. I found you from one of your short vids today and loved that recipe that I decided to look at another. Wonderful easy to follow recipes. I have scribed. Ty from New Zealand.
These recipes look amazing and I'm definitely going to try them. If you're looking to reduce spending even more, dried beans cost less than canned beans and, if you've got a source for good ones, they're wonderful! Just soak them overnight and use like the canned versions.
well, personally i love garlic, beans, corn and Chilis..as a half italian Pasta too.. so here in Germany it is 01:46am right now, and i'm cooking some Pasta with white beans, garlic, and much spicy pepper.. Ciao a tutti
The intro was so fun - idea and edit 10/10 :D Also, I looove italian soups - tuscan and minestrone are my favourites and both are delicious, satisfying and cheap! Plus, soups are trully a hug in a bowl! . Anyways, thanks for sharing these great budget recipes! Have a great week ahead!
I will definitely try some of these, I am all about easy and tasty, even posted my first youtube video since everyone keep asking me for ideas to keep it simple yet delicious😀
❤ I love both these recipes will definitely be trying them. I live in Australia so weather is really hot at the moment but still love soups and casseroles all year long. Have you ever made vegan butter boards ? I’d love to see your take on that 🎉
I was wondering how many takes it took to make your bed. Lol! I'm making the bean soup for dinner but using spinach instead of kale because that's what I have. Can't wait! Sounds delicious!
Have you tried the book "Vehaneasy" by Denise Smart? My favorite recipe in that book is a cajun spiced rice with beans. Think that's what it's called anyway. Another geat one-pot recipe.
Definitely! But you can add the spinach in and then go ahead and turn off the heat. Spinach cooks much faster than kale so just the heat of the soup will wilt it immediately and it won't need extra cooking time. You can do the same if you're subbing in frozen greens. Stir them in right at the end, let the soup come back to a simmer (the frozen veg will cool it a bit) and you're good to go.
11:12 are they stock cubes? I didnt hear you mention them. I make a very similar dish, and add a general (Keens) Indian curry powder when frying the onions & garlic 9:51.And BROWN RICE!
Love love love you and Eric, helped me so much with switching to plant based way of life, overnight went cold turkey.... still going string since March, I do need your help with the cashew cream, I tried it but I doubled the recipe and got 3 inches of water in the bottom of my jar ????

kale white bean soup is one of my all time favorite dishes.
I’ve really fallen off the healthy wagon lately due to a busy schedule so this is much needed!
I made the carrot lentil soup for a potluck at work today and it was delicious!! I had a bowl tonight and put a dollop of hummus on it! oh my goodness it's the bomb!!!

i love adding a bit of majoram to soups like that, it works so well :)

Woooot best day when Sarah posts ❤ Hope everyone has a nice Sunday and a great week ahead 😊
You made that promo really fun to watch haha. I didn’t skip😂. Maybe it’s because I’m stoned but I think it was yo skillz😎
Thank you so much on the lentil tip! I always have tummy trouble after eating lentils. Bring on more eats on a budget! 💗
Garlic: "Measure with your heart!" Haha I love it 🤣Love your work!

Hi Sarah. I found you from one of your short vids today and loved that recipe that I decided to look at another. Wonderful easy to follow recipes. I have scribed. Ty from New Zealand.
I love red lentils and always looking for new recipes. I make something similar but I add some mild curry powder and a bag of frozen mixed veggies.
I love cozy meals like these
I love making red lentil curry similar to this. I usually add some roasted butternut squash and crispy onions on top 😋😋
Both of these soups look delicious!! I love this style of video...."Measure with your heart."💕
I'm so jazzed; I actually have all the ingredients to make the Spiced Carrot and Lentil Soup! I will be making that one this week 😃😋
These recipes look amazing and I'm definitely going to try them. If you're looking to reduce spending even more, dried beans cost less than canned beans and, if you've got a source for good ones, they're wonderful! Just soak them overnight and use like the canned versions.

I will definitely try some of these, I am all about easy and tasty, even posted my first youtube video since everyone keep asking me for ideas to keep it simple yet delicious😀
Saving fresh herbs: prep, add tablespoon amounts to an ice cube tray, with barely enough water to cover each segment, and freeze.
They both look delicious🤤 but I’ll definitely be making the first recipe first! It looked so good.
When i watch your video everything in the world is ok
