anyone else making dinner
Many thanks, I have been researching "is it ok to feed my dog just chicken?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Banailey Startling Blaster - (do a search on google ) ? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for discovering how to improve your dogs health minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate got great success with it.
Right now lol
yup 🤣
Lol what else would anyone make this for? Breakfast?

You have a point there.
Good point or not; if I don't get off UA-cam/my ass and start cooking I really will be serving green/French beans for breakfast.
Superb. 👍❤ Good job
I like mushy green beans, it reminds me of mushy peas which I love
Can you freeze them after you blanch them?
Yes!
You didn't trim your beans?
Crunchy green beans? Yuck
This was incomplete
This video is misleading.
can she just stop all the unecessary talking and get to the point
Like a pro she just boiled em 😂
James Ward right 😂😂
😂
Blanching is completely different than boiling. Go back cooking for taco bell :P
🤣🤣🤣
You received this like a pro
Going to give my green beans the shock of a lifetime 🥶
Making this Tonight! Thank you for sharing this! 👍
You didn't tell how to reheat them. You just taught us how to make them look bright green and then told us to cook them later.
To reheat, you can place it in a sauté pan over medium heat until warmed through. I like to do this with some olive oil or butter, and then add some more seasoning if desired. You can also microwave in 30 second intervals on high power until hot.
That nice lady gave you a far kinder response than you deserve.
I’d have told you to f**k off you entitled little brat
Calm the fuck down.
Judging by your face at the end I'm guessing you hella undercooked them, I personally like mine kind of soft but not soggy
So I have a comment after I have cooked the green beans and shocked them. After the green beans come out of the ice, what if I want to eat them after they have been shocked? Does that mean I microwave them to heat them again? Just asking because I want to lose weight and I love green beans I just don’t want to over cook them or under cook them before eating them.
Cut fresh 8oz green beans into 1 1/2 - 2” pieces and Par Cook in boiling water. Blanch in ice bath, reserve for later. Lightly sauté green beans in 1 tablespoon of butter, season with salt and pepper to taste. 1 oz of bacon may be used as a garnish to make souther style green beans. Green beans must still hold their bright green color and be Al dente.
AlI know is my wife LOVES the way I cook green beans. So thank you Jessica.
"I dOnT LiKe cOLd gReEn bEAnS, I wAnT mY gREen bEEnS wArM!!"
Well then put them in a pan (with some bacon and garlic)and reheat them. Use your brain ffs.
Jessica, I am only 19 years old. Anyway, I opened the container of green beans, washed them and ate them without cooking. I then realized I most likely missed something -.- thanks for this video
you should try fresh green beans its better
😂😂😂😄 bro
nah you cannot actually be this stupid.
Important thing is you’ve learned 😑
@707josh Lol! That's me. Only a small percentage of garden picked green beans actually make it to the pot... I end up snacking on them raw!
Ohh am going to be a pro after boiling my beans🤣🤣
I don't like cold green beans
After a quick ice bath, the green beans aren't necessarily cold, they are room temperature and crisp which is way better than overdone and mushy.
Omg your comment had me dying cuz I was thinking the same thing lol
That’s why, after blanching but before serving them, you’ll want to sauté the beans for just a minute or two (until warm) in a skillet with a bit of olive oil or butter, minced garlic & shallot. ;)
How do youuuu not like beaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanssssssssss
Well. "TO EACH ITS OWN . RIGHT?😜😜
I want warm green
beans ?
You cant heat them?
Same.
Thought the same thing. Don't put them in ice at end. Just boil for 5min
At 3:23 she says you can refrigerate them and then re-heat them when needed. That way you get warm beans without losing the colour you would get by simply boiling them.
Great instructions! My beans are as green as green can be.
Thanks Jessica, this was super helpful :D
What’s the best way to reheat the beans without them becoming soft? Thank you.
I'd say reheat them in an oven or a microwave!
Thank you for asking. I came into comments looking for the same answer
I did this.Turn out great I sauteed them in butter and garlic.Tasted perfect.
I’m making tuna and green beans with kale for Sunday lunch 😉 anyone else making these lovelies for Sunday lunch?
Sebenarnya dia boil dulu kemudian ia taruh ke air dingin biasa juga gak papa itu tujuan nya untuk menghentikan proses masak Krn panas biar warna nya tetap hijau cantik ,,,

That is not how 95% of America cooks green beans. Blanching is not cooking.
🤣🤣🤣🤣my sentiments exactly🤭.
Thanks for the video. 😃
I made these a few years ago after watching your video and now I’m back for a quick refresher.
Even now I can remember they came out with just the right amount of crunch 👍.
I want my beans cooked dry scorch a little and greasy.
💚💚This is just what I was looking for. I just harvested a big bunch of green beans from my garden. I can see from your page we have similar tastes. I love to cook and make UA-cam videos like your I hope we can learn more from each other. Thank you for your inspiration for tonight’s dinner!
thank you so much for this!!
- A lost college student trying to cook her own meals
Wait.. so after everything.. do you season them? Or do you just stick with the salt.... like.. should I take them all out .. put them in a bowl.. and season them to what I like?
Do you ask permission to use salt & pepper at the dinner table?
There’s your answer 👍
Nice music .Was it that crunchy in the end .🤔
How do you reheat them??? How long what method? Microwave boil?
You can reheat in the stovetop with some oil or butter over medium-low heat, or in the microwave in 15-30 second increments.
Amazing I've been doing this all my life lol..add in some asparagus and ur in the money 💰 😋😁
Don't tell Jeffy.
VERY IRRITATING trumpets blaring at me from left and right alternatingly. Please NO MUSIC in the future ...
Finally someone explains why the beans need to be in ice water, thank you
Your audenteism is why americans don't eat veggies. They are still raw. You may as well skip the cooking process all together. I followed this recipe and was disappointed. I cooked mine for a total of 12 minutes and they were perfect.
Thanks. Very helpful for the novice.
Five minutes? Are you smoking Crack? They're ice cold. 15 to 30 seconds at max
This nice lady could read a phone book to me and I would be captivated for hours.

I hate green beans!
@Noelany Vazquez Garcia because its SuperMarioLogan reference.
No, I have to disagree. I am from the south and we generally cook our beans to a soft texture, which does taint the color a bit but the tendency is to cook them slowly in stock with bacon, garlic, and onion. I also "string" the beans, to remove that nasty growth stalk that goes down the entire veg, both sides, top to bottom. Otherwise you have that fibrous, indigestible stalk which is unpleasant. To say the least. The crunch might be nice in a cold salad, but for that, after removing the sting I cut them into very small pieces. You still get the crunchy texture but in manageable bites. Down here you can't pass off beans that aren't fully cooked. Sorry. It's a cultural thing I suppose. You're also likely to find some cooks add some style or form of tomato base for added flavor. Even just pureed tomato sauce. That's a way to increase not just flavor but also vitamin c and B4. Iron, potassium. Plus color that makes the greens more attractive, visually. Just plain Green beans are boring, tasteless, and tough. They need the extra flavors and simmer time to really make a deep south dish.
Interesting, thanks for sharing. Everything tastes better with bacon :)
@Mike Krochburnes what way genius?
Thx for alternatives, will try ; )
Overcooking your veggies into mush isn’t gonna increase the nutrient capacity of them. Quite the opposite, in fact.
It’s good that you eat vegetables though 👍
Try some haggis and stovies 🏴 👌. That’ll put some hairs on your chest 😁
(Sheep’s liver, heart and lungs minced and mixed with beef/mutton and oatmeal and seasoned with onion, cayenne pepper, and other spices. It’s then packed into a sheep's stomach and boiled.)
What an extremely condescending and irrelevant reply that randomly has to throw in European superiority complex. Also seems rather nonsensical to suggest someone isn't cooking their vegetables correctly, followed by a meat-centric recipe as if it were a replacement for soft cooked green beans. It's also worth mentioning that the southern US gets much hotter in than the british isles, which results in tougher, stringier bean pods that need to be cooked longer.
Furthermore, many cultures eat foods that are stewed for long periods of time and nutrients are not destroyed. Yes, some vitamins are sensitive to heat, but it is not a simple process of "food is cooked over x amount of time, food has no more nutrients". You must believe that a tomato sauce for pasta must have no nutrients left in it either then, or any curry, stock, etc.
I loved it when she was crunching LMAO
I didn't like this
0:22 for a while I was thinking am I watching a ModestPelican Sons of Virgin episode?
Thank you for sharing this! It was a big help to me, I did not know how to cook green beans. Now thanks to you I can make my own! 🌹
Should the green beans be washed or cut in any way before cooking?
Jessica, what is your recommendation on reheating them?
Love the crunch at the end.
What is your opinion on steaming beans (4-5')? Dennis
Yea I steam right at 4-5 mins :)
I do that all of the time! Keep a close eye on them and check at 3 minutes, and each minute after until bright green but still crisp.
I HAAAATTE GREEEN BEANS

First you gotta be black to make green beans right or I ain’t eatin’em.
You are Adorable! That crunch and giggle. My new crush. Anywho just got two pounds of fresh heircoverts today. Mahalo for the quick concise tips!
Tired of this crispy green bean trend. They need to cook quite a bit longer...think al dente. There is nothing worse than a raw tasting green bean.
Agree. This would never do "down south". We like our beans cooked long and slow. And minus the "string fiber". That's not digestible.
The noise in the back ground is really unnecessary and annoying.
Normally I fall back on representation but I was pleasantly surprised by the music and kinda starting rapping lbs great tips though and thanks a bunch☝️💙✌️
My mom cooked green beans to death, no way are blanked green beans done.
I made those green beans from ur channel they came out delicious
Glad you like them!
"nice and soft and crisp"
It didn’t look like she enjoyed that bite😂
She said "rolling boil" and then "this looks perfect" when the water was still getting hot
Why does everyone in the cooking channels say...."nice" as a description. Like, is it friendly? Those green beans were so "nice" and green, I couldn't bare to eat them, so we became friends, since they were so nice. ;)
Why did i have to search how to cook fresh green beans? So i wouldnt fail our Thanksgiving dinner...ha
Can I freeze the blanched green beans? And what is the best way to store it Thank you
Yes you can! It's best to store in the freezer if not eating within a few days.
I used this method before I roasted some dreaded brussel sprouts. I now like brussel sprouts.
Love to hear it!
I hungry for america truckey style dinner
I bought green beans from Trader Joe’s, and after I froze them, they had freezer burn. They weren’t plump after boiling. I guess these don’t freeze well for another day??
All fruit and vegetables will be soggier/softened after cooking. Best to use frozen veg for soups and to expect it to be softer. Freezing makes the cell walls of plants break down, which is what provides that snap. This is why they don't sell frozen lettuce.
I meant to say, when they have been previously frozen that is.
Very unrelated note but you look like Stephanie Buttermore to me
Lucyia90 I’m going to take that as a compliment 😆
@@JessicaGavin definitely!!! You guys are both very beautiful :)
You have to give instructions to dummies: cut of the ends of the green beans? You never mentioned that.
Did you just took a bite then put it back in the bowl with the rest?
I'm sorry you're losing sleep over that...

But i like my green beans mushy
How do you recommend reheating? With other vegetables I've blanched / shocked then added to skillet afterward. But is the skillet the only / best way? Thanks
You can reheat in a skillet with other vegetables over medium heat until hot. I even like to add some butter of olive oil and some seasonings. It can also be covered and microwaved in 15-30 second intervals until hot.
