It’s interesting how LED/MicroLED shift the price around. It’s cheaper to produce larger size at lower res. So a 1080p at 32” is more expensive than a 4K at 110”. I bet vendors like Sony and Samsung gonna acre u over with the pricing anyway but the actual manufacturer cost is different.

@@TheFather_ People been talking about MicroLED for how many years to get "cheaper"?... the barrier to entry haven't gotten cheaper, but the products at the barrier to entry has gotten better. And I don't think that's changing for at least 3-5 years. It's not a early adopter product in the industry. The big clients like XR/TV Studios/Hollywood and such at the moment pay 1 million usd per top tier calibration on a single microLED display and they may have a couple of them. So the market actually shifted towards selling the more expensive rather than focusing on the home consumer.

I'd love to see MicroLED on a laptop or conventional sized monitor like 32" to 48". Considering it has no burn in risk, at least from what I've read, that would be about end game for me.
I don't have much experience with MiniLED but I know it's available on the MSI Titan GT 77 laptop. Perhaps that will be my next upgrade from my Alienware Area 51m, which is going on 4 years old now. Mine just has the basic IPS 1080p panel 144hz, as 4k wasn't really worth it at the time of purchase, especially on a laptop for gaming. (9700k + RTX 2080)
OLED might not be to bad, considering I use my laptop considerably less than my phone. But my Samsung S20 Ultra I've had for a few years now has quite noticable burn in now..

@@ydid687 I use a large array of different brands.
If TAD is good? For what? They are good for a dedicated home cinema. But they are prohibitively expensive. Here is what you can do instead. Measure up your "entertainment area" the box where you want the best experience, then find out how many speakers you want. 1.5/2.5/1.5.2/2.7.x. then you mark the optimal view distance between your and your screen. Then you direct the speakers toward that spot. Being your sitting area. Never have your speakers up against a wall, or directly in a corner. Never!
Then get a good amp that can support all of your speakers, maybe even a preamp. That was my first setup when I was 14: TV to preamp to amp. xD
Now the positives of a preamp can quickly be nothing, so it is an advanced move.
But try to optimize your setup before throwing stacks of cash at speakers. You can get good sound with cheap speakers. And if you put your great speakers in a corner you will get the same good sound as the cheap speaker.

I'm a simple man, so forgive me if I'm out of line. But is there any reason why they can't use MicroLED to create an incredibly dense FALD backlight for a transmissive display tech, like Quantum Dots or LCD? I have to assume making LARGER, lower-resolution MicroLED panels is cheaper, so you could theoretically use them to create FALD zones much smaller than even the most densely packed FALDs out today, without the issues of burn-in (which is why people are anticipating MicroLED).
I did some quick maths, and the Blue Subpixel's width of Samsung's The Wall is about the same size as a single full-color pixel of a 27-inch 1440p display. You could expand the size to make it into a 5px local dimming zone, which would be enough for even the smallest real-world HDR applications, plus desktop elements. And since it's easier to make a larger MicroLED, it would probably be substantially cheaper, perhaps well within at least a high-end consumer reach.

Why do they seem to only be innovating in one direction, large, Larger and LARGEST? And yeah, this could also fund the research and development into that technology but quite frankly I don't even believe they care anymore. No. Seating distance is as important as pixel density. Perceived pixel size when watching a 50" 4K screen from 5' away is no different than watching a 150" 4K screen from 15' away. You wouldn't want to sit close enough to a 4K screen (of any size) where you can see the pixels, because the viewing angle would be too wide.

No. You want a stable monitor not affected by ABL or ABSL, with accurate colors and contrast when color grading and mastering. Also you are mastering for the future. Better TVs are coming out every year and eventually the mainstream market will own TVs that can show the the videos to their fullest. If you were to grade on a poor averaged consumer TV you may end up with mistakes. Eg say you tried to mix music on a pari of cheap earphones, once the song is released you realize there is a bass hum you didn't pick up on your cheap earphones. You need accurate equipment to master on or things will not look or sound right of the end users.

Voila! a 921,000 dimming zone MiniLED TV for a fraction of the cost of getting 99,532,800 LED's small enough to make RGB subpixels for 8K at living room screen sizes.

      Micro-LED doesn't require and can't use a backlight, due to it's self-emitting !

@@marcuscole8796 Yes yes. I'm saying in a couple years time, this could be way more cost effective than trying to produce a direct view MicroLED panel at high resolutions. They already seem to have the MicroLED's small enough to achieve this, if they can just focus on getting them bright enough to be used in such a way and scale them to bring the cost down.
It would be a hybrid between MiniLED and MicroLED technologies. Given how good MiniLED's look currently with only 1000 dimming zones, I don't see how this couldn't achieve OLED like contrast with a far simpler manufacturing process.

Just thinking whether "Dual LCD" turns out similar or even more efficient ... and for sure much more affordable even in the short run ... like tvs already in production as the Hisense U9DG or the 65SX.
With a FHD lcd grayscale layer creating dimming zones you get 2,073,600 zones ;-)
At least contrast is already outstanding for a lcd tv (30,000:1) ... sceptical whether the lcd tv with MicroLED backlight can compete in this regard due to it's single lcd-layer !? ... maybe
Regarding luminances the MicroLED solution might have the upper hand, due to Dual LCD carries one more light absorbing lcd layer...
