Thanks for the review! I really like how you break it down. I have one disagreement amongst all of the agreements :P. It is ABSOLUTELY a good thing to have the map be unexplored until you go places. This is a fundamental part of the longevity of enjoyment that some games can miss for convenience. Things in a game that may seem initially hard or troublesome, can create some of the greatest satisfaction later on by overcoming them. Delayed gratification is the key. Thank you for the review!

If they would made everything from graphics to animations New, this game would be probably only half as big or another 2 years in development. CDPR had 500-1000 employees for cyberpunk and trucked up. Fromsoft only has about 320. I'm glad they did it this way.
Yea it's 100% understandable to reuse assets, and studios do it a lot more than people might think! It's smart and efficient and clearly it's done to support a game that is amazing even without it, not at all lazy or cheap.
@@askapaskrn yeah it would be lazy if they didn't add anything new, but they're clearly reusing assets because... you know... those assets are known to be working and functional. It's so they can manage to add meaningful content instead of focusing on changing the parry animation because some whiny moron would complain about having already seen that animation.

The main thing I want to know is how co-op progression will work, if you intend to experience the entire game with a friend. will it be like dark souls where you need to beat the game twice basically or is the co-op summon able to gain XP and items while summoned allowing you to enjoy the full game with friends without problem.
@@MrDjdecks Which means coop will be worse. In coop perspective, me and my friends did the same thing. We completed level or next bonfire checkpoint, then switched to other friends world. This way we progressed the same way. But in open world this will be kind of impossible. You will be able to beat bosses together, but majority of wondering around between bosses will have to be done solo.
@@Alec_cz My point is, that without major set/locked path experiencing the game in coop will be harder. When do you stop? Where do you go? As single player its not a problem, since do anything you want, but in 360° enviroment you have no idea where and how far you should go for each friend, since everyone plays open world diffirently. It will be a big mess tbh. Why cant they make summons to be able to share the world with host so that eveeyone get loot/resources? Everything is already built in game for that, just have to enable, that loot drop duplicates and is seen by all players involved since they have program/code which tracks how many coop players are in same world (covenant/invade system from previous games). It does not require lot of work ... barely any.
@@AmbroReality You're making up a problem that doesn't exist. If you're playing with a friend, progress together and communicate. Summon eachother to explore the open world together. If you're playing alone, it doesn't matter where the random co-opers are in their respective game progression. And if, as you say, adding a shared world requires "barely any work" then I suppose there will be a mod that adds that shortly after launch ( there won't be, because it's much more work than you think ).
1/12th of the final game with lots held back-I am so hyped by this. Also magic looks phenomenal. I'm hoping to hear more about status builds like poison and bleed as I haven't seen much about that yet. This is going to be a long four months.
Apparently from what Vaatividya has said, a lot of bosses inflict bleed build up just by hitting you normally. Maybe it's a design choice to counter tank builds.

Loved the subtle shout out to Vaati Vidya "wont have to rely on a third party source to fill you in on what's going on". No one lie, we all know that the only reason we know what the stories of bloodborne and dark souls is is because of his videos lol
I really hope that, even though the story will be more fleshed out and there will be more dialog, NPCs and their own ambitions and a more direct form of storytelling, hopefully the method of storytelling they have always used up to this date with more of a visual means of telling that story, cryptic dialog, and most of the story hidden for those who look hard enough but still ambiguous enough to leave it up to speculation and interpretation because that is a crucial part of the souls experience with a whole huge community that has come together over its discussion and one of the reasons that even years after the release of several games and dlcs over the span of more than a decade has kept people returning to these ingenious titles just as much as the combat and multiplayer has
This open world feel gives me Outward vibes. It feels so good knowing FromSoft took this massive open world approach, now I can stop replaying through Outward for the 30th time and sink my time into this.
Outward is an unpolished buggy mess, with horrible animations, bad sounds, lame story, terrible graphics and senseless difficulty spikes. Not to mentions the useless map, the unbearable ui and the rest... Elden ring will be a million times better in every single aspect.

Curious to how magic will hold up in pvp. I remember in OG demons souls I started as a caster and it was great for pve. But when I transitioned into full on pvp invasions and arena hosting, magic was just too easy to dodge/bait and melee reigned Supreme. I never went back to a caster in any other souls game after that. Im sure it will be more refined for pvp this time around but we will see ✌
Wow this is a great channel! I have never played Dark Souls, or knew Elden Ring was a thing until this recommended video. I am excited to explore your channel!
This looks cool but for the love god can we just play this without the constant respawning enemies. What I absolutely cannot stand about these games is that if you kill tons of dude die at the boss and then you gotta kill all those same dudes again. Highly annoying and makes these games take years to finish. Idk about the rest of you, but so want a game I can finish in a month or less lol
In 7:57 you mentioned that in Dark Souls environment every inch is handcrafted while in Elden Ring's environment this is not the case. Could you elaborate and/or explain this further? Could you show which places in Dark Souls are crafted by hand and which in Elden Ring are automaticly generated, because this is the implication I get from your statement. 😅 Maybe you can help me sharpen my view for these things?
Many thanks for your video !!! you're starting to make me change my mind about this game. Can't wait for your good and honest feedback about Elden Ring, I'm sure we all appreciate it !
It likely will. Although it's been since DeS that magic was truly king, wouldn't mind it being top dog this time- but not to the point other builds feel outright lacking.
"open world is fun but expect more dragons dogma than red dead redemption" im more hyped because of this line, dragons dogma is a near perfect masterpiece imo
@@MrMonklad Hell yeah it is. I put sooo much time into it..only to have the character data overwritten by my only true peeve about the game...having one character save at a time. Finding all side quests took me forever. God forbid you accidently attack one of the female bandits for the last side quest you need (where you feed the cyclops)...forcing you to go through 9/10 of the game just to get to it again...
As long as there's plenty of unique fights then I don't see a problem with reusing old ones in a game of this scale. It just means more interesting boss-like fights in general instead of low impact fights with throwaway trash enemies.
It's a love letter to From Software games. But i can't help or unseen that this is Dark Soul 4. Don't get me wrong i am gonna play a 100% play through (hope) but the graphics is last gen and i dont care. But deep inside i hope that Bloodborne 2 is comming. Praise the sun
Given that the majority of people can't get hold of current gen hardware (thanks scalpers and bitcoin miners) the claim that the graphics are last gen is quite frankly ludicrous. The graphics seem to me to be designed to have a look specific to FromSoft games and with an ethereal quality which represents the slightly dreamlike quality of the lands we will be exploring and I am in love with them.
This game is fantastic so far. Love it. I like that it has a bit of a traditional MMORPG aspect to it. Definitely a possible game of the year candidate for sure.
@@abcdefg3214 Yeah its pretty hard at first, and it is a pretty skill based game similiar to dark souls and blood borne but like other RPGS if you level your character enough and find good equipment then the game gets alot easier.
I’ve played for about 6 hours now and it’s absolutely amazing how much contact they’ve given us and all of it is really good. Personally I think my only complaint so far is the multiplayer it tends to lag in bosses
@@robovinefilms1811 30 hours to do the main story and nothing else is pretty large for a game. If you venture off the path the game will be far longer than 30 hours. Souls games can be finished in 15 to 30 hour if you rush but many play them for hundreds. I wouldn't worry about length
Its good that you wont be able to find everything unless youre a perfectionist. It means your experience will be more personal with the things you do end up finding. It's something that can't be achieved with all these rpgs that point out anything remotely interesting on your world map.

The familiarity of all the games are a beautiful touch I like that they took our favorite parts of what works from all the work they did and years back they did hint that everything they were doing was to lead up to a secret game and now we finally see it I’m happy they worked in the magic to be very viable I always love new toys even more so when it’s glows and goes boom and above all else I absolutely love how I can play their games over and over never getting bored of them because each time I play I always discover something I never knew was there and in an open world I know I’ll be playing way more then any other Souls game before I’m sooooo excited for this game
It's very promising!! The 30 minutes gameplay video was also very interesting, so thanks for sharing :-).

This review was linked in our local (Country) PS5 group on Facebook. And oh GOD this is exactly what I've been looking for. Looking forward to play this. P.S I have never played any of the demon souls game/ sekiro EVER in my life and damn....maybe I should.
The main thing I want to know is how co-op progression will work, if you intend to experience the entire game with a friend.
will it be like dark souls where you need to beat the game twice basically or is the co-op summon able to gain XP and items while summoned allowing you to enjoy the full game with friends without problem.
If you beat a boss with a summoned friend, your friend will still have to beat the boss in their world. You don't share progression.
@@AmbroRealityHmmmm like always has be??? Also you can summon without being only on boss lol
Closer to three and a half, at this point.
Apparently from what Vaatividya has said, a lot of bosses inflict bleed build up just by hitting you normally. Maybe it's a design choice to counter tank builds.
some other magazines say the network test is 1/6th of the actual game, which seems more believable to me than 1/12th

I really hope that, even though the story will be more fleshed out and there will be more dialog, NPCs and their own ambitions and a more direct form of storytelling, hopefully the method of storytelling they have always used up to this date with more of a visual means of telling that story, cryptic dialog, and most of the story hidden for those who look hard enough but still ambiguous enough to leave it up to speculation and interpretation because that is a crucial part of the souls experience with a whole huge community that has come together over its discussion and one of the reasons that even years after the release of several games and dlcs over the span of more than a decade has kept people returning to these ingenious titles just as much as the combat and multiplayer has
Holy shit, is that one sentence?
This open world feel gives me Outward vibes. It feels so good knowing FromSoft took this massive open world approach, now I can stop replaying through Outward for the 30th time and sink my time into this.
Outward is an unpolished buggy mess, with horrible animations, bad sounds, lame story, terrible graphics and senseless difficulty spikes. Not to mentions the useless map, the unbearable ui and the rest...

Given that the majority of people can't get hold of current gen hardware (thanks scalpers and bitcoin miners) the claim that the graphics are last gen is quite frankly ludicrous.
