We got about six weeks left in limbo until Shadow of the Erdtree comes out, and we can finally start quenching our boredom and staving off our ever-growing existential apprehension by minmaxing our favorite powerstanced halberd builds for 30 minutes… and then watching a youtube video that tells us how broken the new katanas are.
There are 16 Crucible Knights in total. This used to be a nice bit of lore before it got retconned after the network test, presumably to make room for more thrilling sparring matches in the DLC. Woo.

Rank all levels in Spore Galactic adventures
Yo VRising is actually lit as hell, it's been in EA for a year or two, and full released today. Highly recommend. Fantastic game.
Who said anything about all bosses Rusty, we want the all enemies ranked.
Agreed
And not just some half-baked list that groups them all together. I want every individual soldier, dog, and rat accounted for. I'll donate 50¢ on patreon
Jokes on you, I want him to rank all the sites of grace
I just want all dogs ranked
Actually
Next video: Ranking all the letters in the Elden Ring title
E is definitely #1
@@JF-vz1ju Stop disrespecting the mighty I so hard 😤😤
Second E is dogshit tier, absolutely useless.
@@JF-vz1ju which one
@@jplichtaWell, there’s E and e, so I’d reckon he was talking about E.
Here me out: Give the Breath incantation to another Crucible Knight, and have Tanith's Knight reward you with a Spirit Summon version of himself. And have the item description imply that he has no disdain for you (for defeating him), because he will gladly accept you as his Tanith replacement if it means he can continue fighting the Golden Order.
The one you access from the Four Belfries would be the next best candidate for the Breath incantation
Getting a Crucible Knight as a spirit ash would be so OP that he could rival the silver tear for the top spot of best ash, and I would be okay with that.
@@ghoulbuster1 We already have a Blacknife Assasin. Crucible Knight isn't going too far
Honestly now that I think about it, the very idea of a crucible knight going so far as to join the volcano manor is a concept that has some serious main character energy.
@@ghoulbuster1 they can set its health and damage to literally any number they want
The exploding crucible knight is a fucking hilarious idea
I started laughing out loud
I unironically hope they add something like this in the DLC lol!
To be honest, I laugh every time this Crucible Knight yeets himself off the ledge. I always find it amusing when enemies end themselves.
Rusty getting desperate
That's how I like it.
He gotta learn how to move on bro
Finally
@@Raine_Sakanhis ranking videos do well why would he move on
@@skiburc2252 I don't think you know what sarcasm is.
Fun fact about the Farum Azula Crucible Knights:
I don't know how coding works, but somehow because of the way they're set up to fight the Beastmen there, these specific Knights are also set up to fight Invaders. This also means Invaders can kill them if they want.
I found this out randomly while invading, and it's unbelievably interesting to me.
Wait, really? Are there any other enemies like this, cause that seems like some good trolling potential.
@@thediabolicalraisin8953 I'd love to hear about any other enemies if any exist. It's fascinating!
There are, of course, plenty of enemies with sweeping area attacks that hurt Invaders too, but I've only ever noticed these specific Crucible Knights to be hurt by Invader attacks.
I thought maybe a similar thing would happen with enemies in the Catacombs after Radahn, but no such luck in my experience.
@@thediabolicalraisin8953 The Black Knights in DS3's Demon Ruins could also aggro onto and fight invaders.
@@thediabolicalraisin8953 the onyx lord in the tunnel with the second Astel.
@@thediabolicalraisin8953 I don't know about full on fighting invaders, but Runebears can grab them.
In my headcannon, that one in the Evergaol also didn't take Godfrey's banishment lying down, but he got captured & incarcerated
honestly yeah that makes sense
Fun Fact: Zullie the Witch detamined a cut questline in which you would hunt down Ordovis for betraying the Golden Order. Zullie speculated that Ordovis was supposed to be Tanith’s Knight, which makes what Ordovis is in the final game that much more depressing.
so Tanith’s bodyguard was supposed to be Ordovis himself. Ngl that position would’ve been much more memorable and fitting
Come to the comments to post this.
@@Deadgyethey already "came" to the comments to post it. Tf are you talking about
Phew, I thought that Elden Ring finally released you from its basement, but here we are
I dunno who shook me more on a first play: the hidden Knight in Stormveil suddenly *appearing* or Taniths Knight instant-transmitting behind me to wear my ass like a hat...
He's right behind me isn't he
@@osets2117 most likely...or Ordovis reaching from mount FarawayAsFuck for the ass-poke..
Now THIS is the kind of ranking I'm talking about!
Can't wait for the Runebear Ranking.
We are ALL waiting for the Runebear ranking 😂
Me too
The fucking roidbear in the Caelid cave is gonne be either number 1 or last place.
I get why it ranked lower, but one of my favorite Crucible Knights has to be the Siofra Aqueduct Hornshield Knight precisely because he can fall off. The first time I fought it I remembered their flying lunge attack and looked at the windows and was like "There's no way this works" and purposefully baited him off the edge. Especially given how some knights like the Nokron Belfry knight have invisible walls to avoid this exactly thing, it's incredibly satisfying to throw this guy off the ledge through a window. It was such memorable moment for me and now every time I'm going towards those damn Gargoyles I at least get excited that I can bully that one knight off the ledge first
You can cheese the stormveil one to make him fall off the elevator.
Also, you can make both knights in Farum Azula throw themselves off the map
When I ran into the one in the siofra river, I just sniped him with a bow from the ledge
At the end of the year, you should do a ranking of every ranking, and then in ten years you can do a ranking of every year, and then when you retire, you can do a ranking of every ranking you've ever done.
Peak
Uh, rusty, april fools was a month ago, what do you mean all 16 crucible knights in what way are they different? Has insanity struck you?
I think the all weapons ranked vid broke him
Yes, the answer is yes, have you seen what this man has been doing for the past 2 years.
I mean to be fair they differ in arena and rewards for killing them so that's something.
He needs a breather but he also needs content.
@@Dr.Barber that's no difference man
their moveset is exactly the same with only 2 new attacks for the Farum azula version
rusty at this point is just going insane, also all crucible knights are AMAZING
They're one of the most fair yet brutal fights when you first encounter them. I actually enjoyed learning how to beat the Evergaol one by getting rekt a good dozen times.
Amidst the dozens of terrible Elden Ring bosses, Crucible Knights are one of my favorites. @@MozzaBurger88
I agree with number 1 very adamantly for the sole reason I found out he was fightable the hard way. This dude scared the crap out of me after I went, "Hmmm, what happens if I kill Tanith?"
Shout-out to Gug, forcing you to kill Rykard to get a breath incantation that's outclassed by the one you can get in Limgrave.
That one doesn't require Arcane though ! (if you can't survive the grand ordeal that is getting 12 points of arcane)
It’s pretty good at stance breaking malenia though
Ok but dragon breath incantations have the downside of TAKING UP 99 percent of your damn screenspace (unless you’re doing the magma breath glitch that gives you the forbidden sun-esque cast animation)
i love how Gug is more or less universally accepted as his name
@@MONKEY_BEAMmax0r puts in good work lol
this thumbnail is VERY close to the "This thing f!@$ing SUCKS" --> *the coolest thing ever*
And I took that personally
2:51 There’s a reality where that is the Incantation Equivalent to Carian Slicer
I like the golden weapon that Morgott use
ONE STEP CLOSER TO ALL BOSSES RANKING
Isn’t it kinds nuts there isn’t one yet 😂 dude ranked the most random stuff available but still no "all bosses ranked" 😂💀
What is going on 👁️👄👁️ someone fix this bug already 🫠
The Crucible Knight from the duo fight in Castle Redmane would've been the coolest boss entrance in the game if it wasn't hard to get more than a glimpse of him flying in because of the misbegotten you're busy with.
Such a missed opportunity, plus would've been a good opportunity to make it a proper boss gauntlet instead of a mostly-awkward duo fight.
I've always grouped the knights into 1 of 3 categories.
1: Type A - Sword with Tail
2: Type B - Sword with Fire
3: Type C - Spear
I have legit made 35 character across 4 profiles and have never seen a Type A breath fire or a Type B sprout a tail it's very much one or the other.
Type C is by far the easiest with their lack of a shield, slower combos, and very punishable wing attack. I've even one-button-wondered them with frost infused great swords/hammers/axes and the wild strikes ash, just slowly walking around them in a circle swinging away until they die, they only have like 2 attacks with enough poise damage to break the hyper armor.
Type A being the most difficult with the tail shutting down their openings and screwing with my timings and all that, even now they often clip me with it.
Type B is just kinda whatever the fire breath is plenty telegraphed to avoid, I kinda hate how in blows you over onto your ass but I hate when anything does that, I don't like having control taken from me, so it's not a direct complaint against the knight specifically (way too many "oops you're on your ass now" attacks in this game man).
I think spear crucible knight can divide into shoulder tackle and claw.
I've never seen crucible knight there using two at the same time.
@@user-zm2lw3pp7m
I know for a solid fact that Siluria herself can use both horn charge and claw grapple as I've been hit by both from her. The spear knight after Gold-frey guarding the barrier of gold spell has also hit me with both before.
The others? I genuinely don't know. I tend to not let them live long enough to see, the spear knights are still the easiest in my opinion and they use their special attacks way less often than the sword knights.
So, there could still be variance between the 2?
On my next run I'll have to take them slow and analyze their moveset more.
To be me: ALL crucible knights are good! Heck I even did a cosplay one as them during my second play though! Can’t wait for the new incantation in the dlc
Just by looking at the thumbnail, I got an idea for the dlc. A crucible knight summons, but to make it not overly powerful, it would take a 1000+ hp to summon it.
Poor rusty, reduced to countdowns until shadow of the erdtree comes out. Hope you don’t need to make a second weapon list for the dlc items
lol if he doesn’t make one I don’t know how to continue living… this is serious business my friend…. Pretty damn serious if I do say so myself…
He has to. He will make a "DLC weapons tier list" and then a new ranking for all the weapons after the final patch of the game. Then, he will ascend to a higher plane of existence were he will be able to see the true ranking of all things that exist in the universe.
0:25
I love that the youtuber in the second thumbnail is "titanium bannana", as opposed to "iron pineapple".
The fact that every time you get invaded in the whole end up with you fighting a player model (yes, the sanguine noble in the snowfield is an player model, he has 2 reduvias) and then you slap tanith and you get invaded by an actual boss only happens once makes me kinda sad because of just how hilarious it is on a first encounter.
Next he’ll rank all the Deers
*rank the small animals*
Only Rusty could use the phrases "pinultimate biome" and "dimwitted giga-virgin step cousin" in the same video and have it make perfect sense
Cool video, I’m excited for the misbegotten ranking next.
I actually think the 16 Crucible Knight detail is still valid and has important lore implications. Let me just establish some facts real quick taken from the lore.
1. Godfrey's symbol is the axe
2. There are 16 Crucible knights in the game. 10 wield swords. 6 wield spears.
3. The Crucible existed before Godfrey.
Now, let's look at the roundtable of the roundtable hold. Embedded in it are 10 swords and one axe.
I believe that Siluria's Armor is what the original Crucible Set looked. I think Ordovis and his 9 followers swore an oath to Godfrey at the roundtable when he became Elden Lord and changed their armor to suit that role.
This is why their helmets are axe-shaped. The symbol of Godfrey.
Siluria and her 5 followers may have been less enthusiastic about this change in leadership and chose to keep their armor as is, in reverance of the crucible itself instead of to a lord.
9:50 boy was it wild to hear SuperTF's intro music in the wild
Wow, I couldn't even fathom this would ever be a video. Impressed truly. Have a like and a sub.
Never thought this day would come 😭
Rusty, make a tier list video of your Elden ring tier list videos
I would also like to see more boss ranking videos. I always learn new things from your work, and the fast paced, unpredictable verbiage makes for frequent rewatches.
man i wish rusty would share his character sliders he really did a great job with it. awesome video as always!
The Farum Azula rooftop crucible knight also fights invaders, and they can fight it too. Do with that information what you will.
boutta see "ranking all the demi-humans" next
Stormhill Crucible Knight was one of my first walls in this game. I had leveled like 4 times, I played through DS3 and thought I was hot shit (I wasnt), and I proceeded to lose for like 4 hours to this boss dealing nearly no damage and taking way too much, with only 4 heals. But this made their moveset ingrain into my head that now I cant help but love a fight against Crucible Knights now. Such a fun fight, feeling like an honorable standoff between 2 knights, like fighting a Darknut in The Legend of Zelda. Learning the intricacies of what's punishable and what isnt was a trial at first but in retrospect taught me how to approach bosses from then on.
I had absolutely no idea about 3 of these knights. This game will hide shit from me for the rest of my life.
Ranking all loading screen next
'Can I Beat Elden Ring Before My Eviction Notice?' is top tier, hope mr banana picks that one up :)
Just want to say: I appreciate the summary at the end listing your rankings. It's not exactly easy to remember how you ranked everything after a video the length of a nature documentary, so any assistance we can get is helpful. Great video as always.
During my playthrough so I can get a non-NG character in the DLC. I went full-on crucible knight in my build, I hate to encounter them, so why not become one... I don't regret that choice. Now I love them. (and with a mimic tear, you got yourself a duo..)
The shadow of the Erdtree will feel the wrath of what were before it.
Great Video, fantastic topic, S-tier RE rant!
Finally the list we’ve really been waiting for
#7, or as I like to call him, “fuck it I’m tired of Farum Azula and I’m running by him.” 😂
Every Tree, Bush and Grass ranked, thanks buddy 👍
The way you described #1. I felt that, well said.
What I really appreciate about the Crucible Knights is how they communicate to the player how strong they've become. That Crucible Knight in the Evergaol will have players struggling, but eventually, they're on the same level as normal enemies.
I didn’t piece that stuff together about tannith’s knight, but now that I know that I really like it.
The Rampart Tower Crucible Knight is actually one that stands out to me because of some cheese I stumbled upon during my first encounter with it.
I ran past the thing like a coward and took a moment to breathe when I reached the lift, only for the knight to catch up. What followed was a bout of panic rolling that resulted in the lift going up without me, and the knight taking a ride. I thought, "Well, bye now." Then I had a good laugh when seconds later, I saw the knight fall to its death.
I concur with this list except i think Ordovis shouldve been 3rd. But yah, the Stormhill one was such a challenge on my first playthru, then seeing these guys throughout the world always sent chills down my spine. But the one at Taniths side was the one that surprised me the most when i first saw him but didnt realize til this video that he was indeed the only one that went against the Erdtree. Thanks for that 👍!
Great video
I love all the crucible knights, you are exploring then boom these brick walls of pure angry show up
I cant wait to get the Wings ash of War in the DLC! I've already make whole Crucible Knight builds but always felt like I'm missing the main part.
Honestly, the Crucible Knights are one of my favorite enemies, even if it took me 10 playthroughs to learn how to fight them properly. They're always an intimidating encounter and they're vidual and combat design are among the best in Elden Ring
Mans just holding out until the dlc
I too have gone off the deep end. I have just now started a whip only run at level one, mind you i am not allowing myself to use any whip except the standard one in the weeping peninsula. It would be a miracle to finish this in just shy of a month.
Im assuming the amount of times i watch Rusty's videos.....means theyre my comfort videos
I actually saw that twinblade video in the intro right before this holy wow
Crucible Knights are elite soldiers. Uniformity is quite prevalent in military units, so I get why so many of them are similar.
Not dissimilar to the Black or Silver Knights, Haligtree Knights etc. who come is select variations.
Unirocnically excited for the V Rising sponsorship bc I love that game
8:07 I can't help myself with this guy. I just love sneaking up behind him and launching him off the waterfall with horn of the crucible 🤣
This is an incredibly terapeutic video for Rusty, definitely let out a lot of past frustrations in that script
I really love this content pls more
Rusty, I hear that Crash Twinsanity OST in the background and I frickin love you for it~
Every day you upload is a day that gets better no matter what 😊
Eventually the only thing left to rank is all ~311 sites of grace! Something to look foreword to, but I'm loving these ranking videos! The comedy is there and they're fun to watch.
Missed that beautiful voice of yours. Love the videos.
Completely unrelated but this video convinced me to switch my dlc character's build from ps straight swords with the regalia to a build involving a heavy thrusting sword somehow
Rusty please to a play through with only using the worst item in every tier list you’ve made. (Worst staff, worst incantation, worst dagger, etc)
Impressive, very nice... let's see the ranking for ulcerated tree spirits.
Can say for sure that the Erd Tree Sanctuary knight successfully impaled me and threw me off the railing. Was one of my favorite moments ever fighting a crucible knight.
The crucible knight in the evergoal and the one in stormveil castle gave me so much trouble on my first playthrough that I made sure to be stacked and had all their moves memorized for any crucible knight I saw later and would kill them with heaviest weapon and with spirit ashes with no shame, I tried to experiment with different weapons and use no summons for most bosses to make game a little more fun and challenging but not for them
i hadn’t even considered tanith’s knights lore, definitive goat of all crucible knights.
i just loved that pose, the gigachad bodyguard.
Trusty Rusty always ready to remind me that i only found 98 percent if elden secrets.
YAY MY FAVORITE COSPLAY IS GETTING A RANKING. Thx Rusty.
But as a follow up. Even though they are my favorite cosplay and enemies jn the whole game. They are a missed opportunity. Yes i enjoy their fights, every single one. But with 16 of these guys, why not give each one something cool and unique, like a special move only one has or something like that
Another thing that boosts tanith's knight is that you see him just chilling when you first see him, and then when you attack her, he finally kicks into action
3 minute gang, and rusty ranking my fav enemies? Damn today is a good day
If rusty made a 7 hour long video where he ranks every single rock in elden ring I would unironically watch the whole thing from start to finish
I’ve been wondering, what’s that background music that starts playing at Siluria’s placement?
I have been doing my chores to this for the past six months
Thx for listening to us keep making Elden ring content
The Nokron Knight standing in water is my favorite to send flying with the horn incantation
>"He doesn't use primordial incantations"
>shows him using two primordial incantations
Truly the quality I come looking for in a Rusty video.
Fun fact: Tanith's knight was originally supposed to be Ordovis himself. Even had a scrapped questline where an npc wanted revenge on Ordovis.
The Redmane knight fight is a pain in the ass due to the various tables and chairs that have a mind of their own as to whether they'd like to break if you roll into them.
While fighting both of them is absolute CBT, there's something really wholesome about the fact that one of Ordovis's soldiers was so loyal to him that he chose to also help guard the grave along with his commander.
Omg I don’t care how many people call this desperate, this is the content I’ve been waiting for!
I love the waterfall knight just because crucible horn can just shove him right off the edge, its hilarious
On the topic of Ordovis being underwhelming, a Zulie video theorizes that Ordovis originally was Tanith’s Knight. It helps explains why that scene is important enough to be a loading screen, and really would’ve made Ordovis that much more impactful. Him getting cut down from that position and stuffed into a hero’s grave really was a huge missed opportunity.
Rusty you know you wanna rank the weapon classes by playstyle 💪🏾
I swear he will rank all the boulders in Elden Ring first, before he does his own Spell Mod ranking
Crucible armor with one of the stone imp heads can be fantastic, you just switch which one you need like you're Peacemaker
I can definitely see these guys coming back in the DLC but wearing different armor and have different incantations attached. Crucible knights are absolute units
