- This is a short demonstration of a 30" Mower with crossover grass blades and a chain guard. It produces a nice cut. We filmed this in high grass that was wet. On a normal day it cuts up the grass clippings so fine that it doesn't leave anything behind. We'll film again next week and demonstrate everything a little better.

Richfield Village Owner Bernetti Lived 9/1960 - 10/1966 Garden Apts Clifton, NJ Complex used Gravely walk behind & sitting models. As young boy i loved watching the grounds crew mow the lawns and were used in snow removal duties. I have fond memories thinking back to the early 1960s. Gravely machines back then were made from Iron as my family said back then. This company is still manufacturing machines today a testament of quality and a well run corporation, saying much for simple machines that make a difference in property beautification. Gravely historic, today and the future Gravely will tackle any property chores leaving smiles to anyone who knows a top quality machine's !!! Go Gravely
There are Gravely's and Gravely's. There is a big difference.
You just can't beat an old Gravely! First one I bought, and old Gentleman told me if I half took care of it my grandkids would be using it! AND HE WAS RIGHT
I'm using the 86 Gravely promaster 50 that my grandpa bought brand new. It's a phenomenal machine.
older gravely's are basically unstoppable when it comes to mowing..... they may slow down a bit but id like to wish anyone luck trying to stall it out die to wet or tall grass
The main reason we use it is because the chains hang all the way to the ground and prevent stuff (sticks, rocks, etc.) from being thrown. The metal shroud doesn't come down as low so stuff still gets thrown out which can hit people or cars. The other advantage is the longer skids that go with the chain guard help prevent the mower from scalping the ground.
Wowzer 🤗
Very well.
I wish I had that set-up. I would be running a sulky witha grass catcher on the back.
I know someone who had one like that. I don't know if he still has it but I have heard that they last a really long time.
Nice cut. I mow in wet grass often with the same cross blades and experience the dame resluts. What is the advantage of the extended front with the chains v/s the metal shroud on some of the other 30 inch decks?
Well made video.
Great looking hood I've got pretty much the same tractor 64 L 8 super, my dad bought new, he painted the hood dark green some time ago and I'd like to go back to the factory look, can you recommend paint and a source for the decals.
I've thought about that but I don't know if a rear chain guard was made. It won't clear the wheels on this tractor if it was able to be mounted on the rear. 99% of the time the grass is dry and shorter so it doesn't leave anything behind.
I wonder if the cross blades are the best idea- they might slow down the tip speed slightly and interfere with the air flow.
Are those the solid rubber tires? I've always used mine for brush hogging and tried it once for grass but it didn't work well with the heavy brush blade. I'll have to get a pair of those grass blades! Nice mow!
Are you the guy advertising in Berkeley Springs Craigslist?
IMHO, If you had a rear guard with chains, the grass would have someplace to exit and wouldnt bunch up and leave a trail.
What gear settings are you mowing in
