Love Gravely's...but that's got to be tough on your back...ouch

I have owned about every type of gravely that was made except for an LS. This rotary plow was one of the best implements. I didn’t care for the roto-tiller. The cultivator was a pretty good attachment as was the dozer blade. I owned two sets of the geared steel wheels and they were awesome. The best gravely was the 816 with hydraulic. I put chains on it and it pushed the snow like nothing else. I tried the snow blower but it would pick up rocks and turned them into projectiles. The goal was to obtain all the implements but I never got there. I wanted to take a 412 and turn it into a tracked dozer, but never got around to that one.

Yep ... correct they where quite a sight in the early sixties .... I ran my grandfathers .... and a Gravely L88 w/ a 2-stage thrower will go through almost anything ...

Great video my Uncle worked at the Dunbar plant. He was the head of shipping and crating dept. He passed just last Nov😮. So glad to see your great interest in the product

We had one of these back in there early 70s and sold it in 84. It was an awesome machine built like a tank with a lot of cast-iron

Gravelys and West Virginians are two of a kind....Born from the same mountain dirt, maintained from rusted spare parts, live in a shed when not working.....And each an enigma in, and unto itself.....

I like the concept of a Gravely, but everything Gravely I see=dangerous to the operator... Maybe that's why I see so many West Virginians missing limbs and fingers/toes...They all seem to have a Gravely or 2 rusting in the back yard. Now, how come you cant split from the end grain like you wood with a conventional splitter? Might work better...

The big Oshkosh snowblowers at the airport near me especially the military ones on the Air Guard side are similar...open auger to a strong impeller. Very neat!

Have the identical set-up as you do ! Great running L1 ! Not bad looking either ! My only exception is the tires, I have the original Goodyear Diamond tread tires, which are badly weather checked ! Doing my best to locate another "GOOD" quality set of four Goodyear Diamond tread tires ! Anyone who might be able to help me would be greatly appreciated ! I'm a total flathead engine addict ! Love hearing it run !

I have a 61 L-I and the same MA-210 snow cannon - It's a great combination. But I find that even the L-I gearing set to low speed to be a bit much when the snow is deep and I have to slip the clutch or go on-off-on in "bits" The clutches aren't cheap, so that's how I go. I guess the Gear Reduction Wheels would be a a great combo with this setup.

Good video. Thank you. What about comparison of rotary plow vs pull behind plow? And can it plow a ground with a lot of rocks and tree roots? (I assume it could damage the machine, so the pickax and a showel are the only choice?). Thank you.

Might drive screw splitter it on to a pickup truck bed and bolt it down and work from a small stack of wood on tailgate and toss either to back of truck or to garden tractor trailer, a foot or two lower. Your lower back will thank you, particularly if you have more than one pound of visceral fat.

I'm looking into getting a dependable gravely for my small farm in wv .anyone have any good sources other than craigslist? Any swap meets I should be aware of to pick up the attachments I'm in need of? Love these machines!!!

Anybody else cringe when the mower was coming toward the camera? Just one rock thrown from that blade could really hurt.

I have the same huskee but on mine they put the filter before the pump and when i got it the hose would collapse between the pump and filter so it ran reallly slow. The old guy was selling it because of it i guess. I just put a steel pipe in place of the hose with hoses for couplings and its worked great.

Found a 1962 Model L for 700.00 ( Is that a good price? ) that has the cart and also the rotary knife mower, the reel mower, and the sickle mower. It is a bit rusty but said to still run fine, Can you still get attachments for these?

Looks like a lot of wasted motion having to dead head back after every pass.
