Seems like it was working good there. To be honest when using a sickle bar I find the tall grass and weeds I cut end up catching up on the gear houseing in the middle of the bar. And I end up pushing alot of grass over and doing alot of reverses. Only way it dosen't happen is if say I use one half of the bar. Which seems to work great for me anyways. Also very nice collection you have there!!!!

Stretch a rubber strap between the back of the counterbalance and somewhere up on the hood in front and it'll sling the fallen/cut weeds aside. My BCS sickle bar mower has a plastic fairing that oscillates back and forth with the cutter and throws the cuttings every which a'way, but I've seen a simple EPDM strap work effectively. Costs little to try, anyhow...

I'd rather have a worn out Gravely than a new anything else and it's good your brother didn't cut a bees nest in half!
