Not for me, he is clever made, but the ways to counter it is to limited or should I say flawed, every single hostiles in this game has a counterbalance, nut cracker’s horrible sight and little intelligence , girl and mimics rarity, even the thumpers can be jump over or do a lot of turns and that also has bad memory, the butler’s counter balance is to not be along, or just run away as soon as you see him, there is no problem with balancing it like this, it’s just that it start murdering you to quickly so if you don’t have competent teammates you kinda just die. This thing is very clever made, but I hope it start murdering 20 seconds later so we have a better chance. As specially when there is other mobs teaming up with it.

Little fun fact: The knife normally uses the exact same code as the shovel when hitting enemies or players, but butlers have a special condition which checks the hit ID of what hit them. If it is 5 (a knife), they will always take 100 damage, which is lethal.
if that's the case, why are large parts of the crawlers and bunker spiders hitbox invulnerable to just the knife? Enable colliders and crouch on the thumber/spider to see what I mean the hurtbox is blocks your hits for their hitbox

i didn't even get a first experience. i played a lot during the beta and never met the butler once, and then it became too hard to avoid spoilers. the ambience while they're sweeping, as well as the music while they're chasing, are top notch and would've made for the coolest first experience, but i was robbed and im kinda pissed about that
While I do find it hilarious that the entire enemy is essentially a giant reference to "the butler did it" trope in murder mystery stories I do still think this enemy had some missed opportunities with it. Like maybe it could serve as an opposite to the junk bugs and that you can't drop items on the floor around it because that "dirtys his work" so to say and it angers him. The butler enemy in practice is alot more simplified just being a serial killer who's waiting to catch a player alone so it can commit it's crime.
The 'one spot before murder' mechanic is going to be fowl for single player, youll have to drop all your items and run to an exit, or find a set of isolated doors to hold the butler off for a while, or defeat it and deal with the masked hornets. i'd hope the long door opening time is intenntional
best guess is that the bees are supposed to have the 30 second door timer, and the butler is supposed to have the 6. it probably got swapped somewhere in the code by mistake.

I just love the roster of enemies in this game. In addition to the standard alien-like enemies you'd expect to find in a game like this, we also have: Crackers of the nuts, ghost children, Jack-in-the-box (of death), and Whodunit butlers (ft. Bees)

Also another note, after the butler becomes aggressive once he will not enter his lingering phase again. however he will sweep for a few seconds when he sees the player offering a short chance to escape. If he puts away his broom which you can hear with a sound effect, he will turn aggressive immediately when he sees you. However if he doesn’t see the targeted player immediately he will take out his broom again for a while and if he doesn’t see the player he will run off. If he dose see the player this will reset.
I really do like how the character is based off the “Butler did it” trope. I like the creativity of this enemy and look forward to seeing more enemies in the future.

I like when game enemies feel real. Hearing, remembering. A good example is also bosses in certain games or enemies that act exactly like an average player would.

It is so interesting to see how all this works especially after encountering the monster for the first time. I was playing solo and it must of seen me previously because as soon as I saw him he immediately attacked me, and the bugs were a nasty surprise. I'm curious now; would you ever consider doing these kinds of videos for custom monsters?
I think the reason why butlers pop when stabbed with a knife is cause they I literally just a giant sentient gas sack to the pent up air would be realised cause it would puncture the butler a lot easer that a curved or dull weapon

if there's 2 or more living players around, he won't enter phase 3, and will instead revert to phase 1
I'd hope it gets changed to putting him in Phase 4 instead of 3, so he can attempt to eliminate all witnesses lol
