- Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your pilot speaking and welcome on board for another Drag Race episode. Today between two Rear wheel drive cars from Mercedes and BMW. We have the AMG GTs putting out 510HP from its 4.0 l Twin Turbo V8 against a tuned to 600 horse power BMW M5 F10 from its 4.4 l Twin Turbo V8. A little more power for the BMW but less weight for the AMG GT, so who is going to win? Are you ready? Let's go!

Both absolutely stunning cars. It’s unbelievable that a 4-door saloon can perform that way. I figure a standard M5 puts out that kind of power without any form of tuning. Mercedes sounds awesome.

510hp merc and 600 hp bmw ?? Its not so awesome for 4 door salon btw its a performance car with different chassis and everything
Sadly the driver of the BMW always a bit sleeping to shift into 2nd gear no wonder he always playing catch up in the 1st & 3rd leg. His 2nd run though was good where he did an 11.82 in a 1/4 mile.
I just don't understand though with the BMW designers why they keep sticking with its saloon type even with their M Competition tag cars especially the M4, M5 & M8. It's looks odd for a car with that kind of engine power. BMW must sort out the differences of their units

Beside Ferrari of course & the legendary LFA. BMW is always the car for the people who are seeking for a thrilling drive. Which I just don't understand is why they keep on sticking with this saloon type design even with their M4, M5 & M8 competition. It's really not appropriate to a car that kind of an engine power.
the track is not smooth, the cars are jumping on the waves and this makes it very difficult to accelerate the cars

This is why cars have things like suspension, springs and dampers.
This makes it very easy to do this, as one can see.

1:54 to 2:04 is a great comparison of the gear boxes from the sound alone. The Benz sounds like a light switch being flipped, while the Bimmer clearly puts in much more effort to upshift, in my opinion.

BMW I believe all day. The only problem is they suck on the design part by keeping their M tag cars a saloon especially their M4, M5 & M8 competition. It's really not appropriate to a car that kind of an engine power.
Good thing BMW fitted the F90 M5 with xDrive. The F10 M5, being rear-wheel-drive only, struggles for traction.
Amg gts is rwd aswell.

I love it. This is one of the very few channels shows the important stuff first and gets straight to the races.
Even better that these were stock cars, tuned cars aren’t always a good comparison because one tune can be more aggressive than another.

@@josephmatlou3421 it has the same numbers as the F10 M5 competition. So yes, technically it is tuned, but with an oem tune.
On any S55 powered car you can get the oem M4 GTS tune. BM3 offers it, it isn’t hard to believe that you can get the Competition tune for a base M5 with the same drivetrain and same parts.

BMW is better than Mercedes, there´s no doubt about that. Imagine losing to a 10 year old Family Sedan and then still making a Comment like this 🤣
Both drivers were asleep at the arm drop lol. At least it made it a fair race. Very closely matched cars.
Not easy to put the power down on those RWD cars but it was a lot of fun filming them. Many more cool videos to come!
i think its the delay when you lift your foot of the brake pedal

@@CarswithPilotTseno its actually thr DCT it needs around 1 sec from brake off ti launch... as its not like torque converter transmissions where you actually stops the car with the brake... at least mine dct act like this.. and i see here is alao the same

What does the years of the car have to do with this race? It's a tune 600+ horsepower m5 not a 1986 Honda Civic. What do you think a 600+ horsepower car suppose to do in a 1/4 mile race? BMW claims 11.9 1/4 mile stock and this one did 11.8 so what does the years of the car has to do with it?

@@PapiAndrey Says you. It's not your car, you're only making an assumption. Also doesn't change anything I said. I sincerely doubt someone would put an OEM factory tune on their f10 m5, it makes zero sense.
@@talkditingsdem5799 doubt it then, i don’t care. The quarter mile ET, trap speed, and 100-200 are all in line for both cars, including a competition F10 M5.
It makes perfect sense, its like getting MPPSK, you get an oem tune from Bmw making a little more power than stock.
Thats why a GTS tune exists for the S55 platform. Use your head
Conclusion: With a better driver, the M5 would win every time.

Rolling doesn’t work on our short track unfortunately and an episode is coming between the m3 and m5 soon

bmw is just incredible the fact that the m5 weights like 660 pounds more and is a 4door makes it even crazier. and i love the f10 its timeless ive got one by myself :)

I think it is a very modest tune for a safe and realisable engine in the long run 😊
@Cars with Pilot Tseno I sold my 730hp and 920nm f10 m5 with over 138000 km to a friend of mine he drove it for another 40 thousand and sold it in a very good shape, no faults healthy engine. If you buy an f10 m5 competition it has already a little over 600hp
I believe its stock. Or its running the M5 Comp tune. Those are the numbers of the F10 M5 Competition.
It’s not unusual to get an oem tune from a higher trim, S55 powered cars can get the M4 GTS tune through a tuner, BM3 offers it.
It would just make this F10 essentially a Competition.

Why do they always run the m5 competition sedan against coupes and not the m8 coupe against other coupes?
The M8 is way newer, M6 would be a more even rival but same weight and horsepower

The disadvantage of that amg is that it cannot lunch well if you do the rolling race few times you'll see the difference it will always win

@@CarswithPilotTseno thank you. I took delivery of the M240i this Jan and love it so far. Some people don't like its new look but i like it and it grows on me quite a bit.
Real world numbers show how much exaggeration there is in performance times for a lot of cars. Go Mercedes!

What do you mean exaggeration in performance times? Can you elaborate?
Both cars are making a little more than claimed by the manufacturer, but that could be due to many reasons. The best one I’ve seen was so the car has a high tolerance before its making less power than it should.
Such as high altitude, poor fuel quality or octane, or even so the car seems more impressive than it should be for the rated power figures
For a 10 year old design car BMW did extremely well ..

Stock for stock the gts is a much faster car. a Stock 2016 amg gts runs an 11.2 quarter at 127 mph vs the F10 m5’s 12.0 at 122 mph.

You're thinking of the GT R. A GTs will cover a 1/4 mile in about 11.6-11.8 on a good surface.
das alles entscheidende ist das Wegfahren,, da kann der eine Fahrer des AMG oder des M5
schon Zehntel verlieren. Ansonsten sind die beiden auf Augenhöhre, was auch reicht.

It’s not possible stock M5 F10 to have 203 km/h trap speed at 1/4mile it’s the same like in the M5 comptrtition F90 this M5 have at least stage 1 tune for sure

@@deadwrong3176, GT S машина больше для трека, чем для гонок по прямой. Да и в 10 быстрейших у мерседеса 2 машины, а бмв там нет. Вопрос всегда открытый, а не закрытый. И они с Ешкой поколениями соревнуются, что раньше выходит, за ним преимущество.
