- 1981 Pontiac Trans Am with a LS 5.3 and 4L60E Swap. Doing some burnouts and rolling pulls.
This Trans Am was born as turbocharged 301 th350 car, with the WS6 Performance package, T-tops, and deluxe interior.
Engine is a 2003 ls based 5.3 with and LS2 intake and injectors, backed by a 4l60e.
Speed engineering headers.
Wahlbro 255 Lph inline fuel pump / Corvette filter and regulator.
ICT billet motor mounts and accessory mounts.
Holley 302-2 Oil Pan,
Marshall instruments gauges.
Classic industries gauge bezel.
summit racing seats.
Year One 17x9 snowflake wheels.
I was in high school when this car came out. I thought it was the coolest thing. It still is cool. Never got the chance to own one. Nice job.
I bought a new 2001 WS6 Trans Am,
6- speed T-top.
Short headers, tune, Small cam,
373 gears.. 370 RWHP.
Put a smile on my face every time I drove it..
3rd gear on factory tires ,
Side ways at 60 MPH..
Had to put nittos 315s on it..
Nice but lose the music. We want engine noise
'79 to '81 has the meanest looking front ends
I appreciate the fact that you actually kept the shaker a shaker. I know a lot of people over the years just screwed them to the hoods instead of the carbs and I hate that.
I miss my 79 with the Pontiac 400 in it. posi track too your already starting out with a great base.
Sweet!👍
Awesome car! Excellent drone footage! 👍
I dont blame ya for taking it easy.
Those 4l60's dont survive to many hard launches.
Upgrade to a 4l80e & throw on a turbo or two.
You may want to swap out the 10 bolt as well.
You aint lying lol😂
Awesome car!
Love it
thank you very much! keep checking back in on the channel. We plan to do some more detailed videos on this car, along with some other builds.
Gorgeous Trans Am. I have a black hardtop 1980 Trans Am that I'm planning on building a LS2 for with the 4L80E transmission. Does the shaker still shake pretty good with the LS swap?
Thank you very much! It doesn’t move very much when idling, but it moves pretty good under heavy acceleration.
@@reeltoreelauto-9719 sweet, thanks for the reply. Can you do a video on just that if you get a chance. I'd truly appreciate it. There's not many videos out there on that particular subject.
@@paceta80 I will do my best to get you some video of it.
Badass ride!!
Super Nice! 🔥🔥🔥How did you mount the Shaker to the Engine?
Thanks! I made a bracket out of some flat stock and angle iron. The bracket bolts to the fuel rails.
@@reeltoreelauto-9719 nice… you should make more and sell them!!! 🤔
Looking Good!
This has got to be in Texas.
No sir, Alabama.
What headers are you running? Thanks!
cozythunder I’m using speed engineering, here is the link.

Hi, how much horsepower?
On the dyno It made 262hp and 303tq to the wheels. So that would be around 320hp at the crank.
What gauges are those? Nice ride.
They are Marshall instruments gauges. I got them from eBay.
@@reeltoreelauto-9719 thanks
Why the music
Where did you get the led headlights
They’re from Amazon. I think they’re about $40 each, but they work great.
Can you send the link ?

Next time put louder music
Lotta effort involved in the LS swap with not much/ or any gain at all--- complete waste of time and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ !!!!!!
The whole swap including the engine and transmission only cost $3500. It makes 320hp at the crank, gets 20mpg on the highway, at 70mph. I would say thats quite an improvement over the 200 horsepower that the original turbocharged 301 made.
@@reeltoreelauto-9719 301 Turbo should never been allowed to be produced-- 301 period !!! 403 CI. didn't even belong in a Pontiac !!! Buddy had a '79 400 4 speed that kicked ass ! Guess I was comparing your's to that--- sorry man, my mistake !!!
Sorry to tell you but a 1981 ain’t no bandit!!!LMAO
Well, there is technically no bandit trans am for any year, so I’m not really sure what your point is. Everyone knows that bandit trans am is the generic term for a black and gold special edition second gen.
