    The Fort Hood shooting unfortunately proved the terminal capability of the 5.7 round. Using possibly the weakest manufactured projectile made for 5.7 , the shooter killed all 13 people who were hit center mass. All of those wounded were hit in arms , legs etc and were left with devastating injuries including a single shot shattered femur which is the largest and most dense bone in the human body.

      @@swamp1634 That's where you're wrong. He fired a lot of shots but his average hit count was just 2.5 shots per victim and that includes those shot more than 3 times and those shot just once. Also included are the young, strong, MEN who attempted to rush the shooter and were cut down by the 5.7x28 round.
      You will rationalize your personal bias no matter what knowledge you're exposed to, but the Ft. Hood shooter definitely did NOT "spray bullets" as you have been inculcated to parrot by your favorite internet expert.

      Among those deceased in the shooting
      Frederick Greene, one of the men who charged the shooter, was shot 12 times.
      Michael Cahil, another man to charge the shooter, was shot six times.
      Aaron Nemelka, who was lying down, was shot 3 times.
      Jason Hunt, who was also lying down, was shot 3 times.
      The only people I can find whom were shot one time are
      Francheska Velez, a pregnant woman shot thru the heart.
      Kham See Xiong, a man shot in the head.
      Perhaps you could provide me more info on the rest of the deceased? Or correct any inaccurate info here?

    This is the most underrated EDC weapon to date. As another commenter said, it’s a devastating round to the human body that’s why the SS carried/s it! The length gets to me in the car, but it’s better than coughing up a couple grand for a compact variant. The light weight makes up for the fact it’s a little long to be comfortable while carrying appendix though. Plus, with 23rds of this potent shit you really feel safe given you’re comfortable with your weapon. All in all 10/10 EDC for those wondering and a great video. Always A+ content.

    You really need to shoot a 5.7 to know it's a badass round. It makes gallon jugs do the dance very well compared to any 9mm round I have shot. I prefer small, fast, light, with next to no recoil for follow-up shots. When I'm carrying a 5.7 with a 20 round mag I never feel under-gunned. I can't say that for the 9mm. 5.7x28 out of a handgun is not penetrating deeper in ballistic gel than any other recommended defensive handgun caliber. How is this round more dangerous to the public?

    • @wesleyhobbs9
      @wesleyhobbs9 Рік тому

      @@youtubewatcher4792 I do not believe it is dangerous to the public. The only thing dangerous to the public is people who have mental challenges/problems. Those people should probably not be able to have guns until they are diagnosed and determined to be better. What’s a problem and concern to the public, as the leaders we have they continue to blame guns, knives and weapons on why people are being killed and hurt, instead of blaming people with problems and trying to get more help. Here in Oregon there is hardly anywhere with any room available for troubled teenagers and people with mental problems. Trust me I know this because my daughter had some struggles and it took forever to get her into a place or two and it was very challenging and there wasn’t enough help for these people and kids! They spend more money trying to make laws to take rights away from law-abiding citizens who are using guns for defensive purposes and hobbies like we have for hundreds and hundreds of years, instead of using the money to help people who have mental struggles. Also it doesn’t help, when you have school teachers that are telling your kids they can be a boy or a girl or whatever they want whenever they want and confusing them and taking rights away from the parents. On another note, the 5.7 x 28 round is a great round and awesome for self-defense.

    • @carbon8ed
      @carbon8ed Рік тому +14

      @@thorman944 What are you talking about? Have you ever actually taken a moment to research 5.7's penetration characteristics at all? Being able to penetrate soft body armor does not automatically equate to being good at penetrating people or barriers. In fact, 5.7 presents no more risk than any other common handgun round in regards to general overpenetration. People carrying .40 S&W pose a greater risk than 5.7 in that regard. Please actually do just a tiny bit of research man, it's not that hard.

    • @danemaui8259
      @danemaui8259 Рік тому +6

      Carbon took the words right out of my mouth. Also there's these things called hollow points that people use to avoid over penetration. There have been many many penetration tests done comparing this round to a 9 mm. The nine-millimeter always penetrated further. This round is good at piercing Kevlar. Its design is to cause massive wound channel through the stretching of one's inner organs. That's the effect that a rifle round has. This round has the same effect because it's moving that fast.(a mini rifle round). Regular pistol bullets are pretty much making a hole with very limited if not any stretching going on. That's why there's a little bullet does so much damage. It also starts to tumble when it loses speed, causing more damage. It's all quite technical. Not for the simple minded.

    12 to 18 inches is the standard for a 10% block. There is no standard that I am aware of for a 15% block. This is not to discount the results observed, but we should not say that less than 12 inches doesn't meet the standard in a 15% block as we would expect less penetration to begin with

      ss190 will absolutely penetrate level 3. It was specifically designed to do so. SS198LF (27gr high velocity lead free... basically LF+P) will penetrate some soft armor.
      Elite ammunition makes several rounds that have shown to penetrate level 3 as well. One of them resulted in their getting a bogus raid by the ATF, because apparently our government found it too bothersome to simply buy a box and test it themselves. The round was legal by definition... but they were pressured to change it. The newer variants are pretty much equally impressive, if not more so.
      If you're looking for defense against armored assailants, the major ones to avoid are the ss197sr (Hornady polymer tip), ss200 (JHP), ss201 (FMJ standard), and ss195lf (27gr high velocity hollow point).

    Isn’t that a P90 with a 10” barrel? Comical how many of these content creators don’t include the top of the line defense 5.7 from the various boutique manufacturers like elite ammunition that make rds that truly demonstrate this calibers capabilities but label their videos as “a test of the 57’s defense capabilities “. And a shot out to his friend that I assume wants the world to know his name and that he has a huge gun collection.

    Good video. Appreciate the effort.
    It’s still just a .22 caliber bullet moving slower than a rifle. Even the standard issue 5.56 rifles regularly require multiple hits to stop the bad guy. Which is why there is a push to have larger calibers for the military.

      That's because a heavier 62gr Armor penetrating bullet is coming out of a 14.5" Barrel which it was never designed to do. It was designed around a 20" Barrel. Even still, the 62gr + M4 is more effective than you give it credit for. The SEALS, Green Berets, Delta all use the 5.56 as their Primary. It domed Osama Bin Laden.
      A 55gr 5.56 out of a 20" Barrel (Think M16, or any Rifle) thats nearly 3,500fps. In Vietnam the wounds inflicted by the M16A1 were devastating. Entrance the size of a toothpick, exit, the size of a cantaloupe with other random exits from the round tearing itself apart, creating a half dozen or more wound tracks.
      It is because of the Field Reports/Photo/Video of the effectiveness of the Americans Black Rifle, and the 5.56 that the Soviets dropped the large, slow 30 Caliber, 7.62x39 and invested Millions creating a new round, Building Millions of new rifles, Multi Millions of new magazines, accessories etc. This culminates during Vietnam in 1974 as the AK-74 and it's 5.45x39 Projectile still the primary Russian round to this day.
      Thank you Eugene Stoner.

      Remember that this cartridge was purpose-designed by FN for military use in close-quarters battle (CQB), out of their PDW and handguns chambered for the cartridge. It was also designed to penetrate soft-body armor when using the military-issue round developed by Fabrique National, namely the SS190. The 5.7x28 FN cartridge was designed to deliver similar or superior performance to 9x19mm NATO (9mm Parabellum/Luger), but at less penalty in weight and bulk, allowing soldiers to carry more rounds for the same weight.
      In other words, the civilian-legal ammunition for this cartridge is not going to possess the same attributes as the stuff FN makes for special operations, SWAT, etc. use. That said, Speer - who are a widely known and respected firm which has been supplying police departments with ammunition for decades - have just come out with a JHP load for 5.7x28 FN, and if their past products are any indication, it ought to be a good performer.
      Your basic point is correct, but just wanted to supply some context that this cartridge was not developed, per se, for civilian use - but for special military operations and personnel.
      The basic appeal of something like the 5.7x28 FN for a civilian looking for a capable self-defense handgun and load is that the 5.7 has modest recoil, high magazine capacity and can be shot more-accurately than heavier recoiling cartridges. It may be that the over-penetration risk is less also, compared to other types of handgun ammunition.
      The main problem for common folks is that 5.7x28 is expensive compared to more-established cartridges such as 9x19mm or 38 Special or any of the other older designs. And it isn't widely available everywhere at present.

    Ask the Green Berets who used the 5.7 in Iraq (as they field test many weapons) what they think of the caliber. One friend had fifteen good hits on a Haji to terminate the encounter. Not impressed at all. BTW, many different bullet configurations.

The damage done to the chickens might occur if they were frozen (not saying they were) but at 98.6F, human body temp, as you know, there is less resistance to the bullet, hence a clean hole. I have seen a lot of GSW, there is nothing like a caliber rifle! Thanks again sir.

    It is not legally defendable to carry this round in many jurisdictions, and it is IMMORAL to carry this in any jurisdiction. The goal for any CCW permit holder is to stop the threat with as few shots fired and as little potential danger to innocent bystanders. ANY round designed to defeat body armor will pass through an attacker and put innocent bystanders at risk. Your #1 job is to not hurt innocent bystanders, #2 is to protect yourself. THIS ROUND is great for SWAT or high-speed military that is going up against really bad people with body armor, but it is horrible for anyone else. THIS round prioritizes #2 and sacrifices #1 - which is a total failure. I hate saying anything that could be considered anti-2A because I am a staunch supporter, but 5.7 is not a valid CCW option.

    • @jdmb03

      So much misinformation. The 5.7 is a high-speed .22. Civilians do not have access to "SWAT" or "high-speed military" 5.7 ammo. Civilian 5.7 ammo DOES NOT penetrate Level II or Level III body armor.
