Frigidaire Dryer Error Code "dr" - How to Troubleshoot, Fix and Repair

- In this video I show you how to troubleshoot a "dr" error message on your Frigidaire Dryer.
This will cause your dryer to not run when you press the start button.
If you have an issue with the door not closing properly, you may get this message. If the door switch is bad on your dryer, you will also get this error code.
In some cases the control board could be defective and not read the signal from the door switch. Most often the cause of this error code is simply a dryer door that didn't close properly, then after that a Bad Door Switch.

Thanks for the video! Was wondering if dn code means anything as my Frigidaire dryer doesn't stop at the end of the cycle ex. 90min. Heat shuts off and it dries perfect but it never shuts off just turns for another 30min or so. Can you guide towards the problem ?? Thanks

I have a Sears Kenmore Elite Dryer 417.81100000 with the dr code followed by 3 short beeps.
I changed the switch followed by the control board.
I am still getting the dr error.
Any suggestions?

I have the same dryer and when I turn the timer dial for example to 45:00, the dig display shows a different time, as though the dial and timer are out of sync, so to speak. Also, when not in use, the dryer control display will randomly turn on and beep, which prompts me to select the cancel button, and usually after the 3rd - 5th time of doing this i am ready to pull my hair out! Any recommendations?? Thanks in advance

I've always been a fan of whirlpool. If you want to save a little money, go with a roper brand. These are whirlpool built machines, with less options. Most reliable and cheaper to fix when they go out of warranty. Pretty easy to work on also. Let me know what you end up getting!

My fridgeaire FFLE3900UW0 runs about 5 seconds and quits, error codeE53, I replaced the motor and dryer control board, still stops after 5 seconds. Any suggestions?
I have this exact dryer..I start the cycle,the dryer is heating but stops after 20 seconds and all lights to the right are blinking (drying, cool down, press saver, etc).I am receiving no error code. Please advise.. I'm trying to repair myself
Hey GmGarlo,
I'm an appliance repairman and yes - no appliance made today lasts as long as they did 15-20 yrs ago. Not by a long shot.
The reason(s) has to do with the fact the most parts are made in Mexico / China and the quality is horrible and the quality control is even worse.
Another (and to me a more important) factor is that it's difficult to find an appliance now that has no control board of some kind on it, where older appliances were mainly mechanical vs mainly electronic.
So, between the EPA regulating efficiency standards, attempting to make an appliance for as dirt cheap as a company can, and the fact that consumers like to buy toys with lots of flashing lights vs work-horse machines - you get a sub standard product that looks amazing and breaks often.
As far as what brand to recommend, it depends on the appliance were talking about. Whirlpool makes up a large chunk of the market currently and across the board I feel like the make an ok product at a fair price.

I think it has much more to do with what is called "planned obsolescence" than with them being made in China or Mexico. They are designed to not last as long as they did in the past. Nowadays, many companies use this strategy to sell more products. You can google "planned obsolescence" if haven't hear about this, although I am pretty sure you have.

"Dryer Exhaust Thermal Limiter".
What is that?

@@Luiskuuk It's basically a thermal fuse located on the tube that the heating element is in.
