Thank you! I just fixed my dryer thanks to your video and the comments below (removing the air outlet was helpful). For the hard to get screw at the back, I changed it by a shorter hex-top screw; it will be much easier in the future to remove with a ratchet, though I hope that it will be far into the future!

Just did this today on our 5 year old Affinity Dryer. Works like a charm now!. That back screw on the heating element housing was an absolute pain in the rump to get out! Bad design. Gracias! This was the clearest video of this I have found. Ours were stacked and hooked together with a stack kit, so made it a little more of a pain in the butt.

This was a great tutorial, thank you. As for that last back screw, the grey lint panel on the front is actually quite easy to take out and allows for great access to that back screw. I would recommend taking it off before trying to disconnect the heating element.

Awesome video!! These are the types of videos I like to see, regular guy do-it-yourself’er!! I’m 59, disabled, neuroendocrine cancer of the liver, bones and lungs and I was still able to get the job done! Anytime I use UA-cam for help fixing things I always go to the regular everyday person giving instructions. This is what I try to teach my 12 year old son, get down and get your hands dirty!! Bust a few knuckles , skin a few fingers, just try doing things for yourself, you’re not just gonna save money you’re gonna gain some independence! I was a Home Builder by trade but before UA-cam I always dug into whatever needed to be done! Again I just wanted to let you know I appreciate people like yourself sharing knowledge you probably learned the hard way!!💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🧠🧠🧠

Great video to reference along the way. I especially liked the take reminders on the wires. The little screw in the back is really a booger, but getting it back in is easier if you ream out the new hole with the screw before reinstalling. One note of caution is the plastic cover of the control panel breaks super easy if your not careful. So far its working and fingers crossed will keep going for a long time. Tape the error codes paperwork to the side of the dryer for easy reference in the future.

Mr. Caesar; Used your video to successfully change out my heating element. Thank you! Agree with below, remove that gray lint exhaust in front. Easy and quick. Makes life much easier. As far as "that screw", I saw a different video where a guy makes a little phillips removal tool with an old plastic wire harness clip. Take the plastic piece, put a short phillips head in there and use it to remove that screw. It worked like a charm! (Actually, I made my own out of a piece of PVC trim) Thanks again!

Thanks - the video helped a lot - and made this much easier to do. Probably 90 minutes end to end. I also took the lint cavity off - which was easy - and helped me remove the difficult to access screw in the back. I used a Phillips offset screw driver - otherwise it seemed like it would be close to impossible to do. It’s just an awkward location. I also removed the wiring at the spade lugs for the connections vs. try to remove the sensors on the side of the heating element - that seemed easier. Video was a great help though

Thanks. Did this before the hard way. Which wasn't hard just more involved. I would add that people should spend the extra money and get the factory part instead of the no name models from Amazon. I've tried both. Factory part lasted 5 years, Amazon knock off lasted 7 months.

Thanks for the video. It helped a lot. I didn’t find as much trouble getting the back screw out. The four screws on the side were a pain. Especially when reinstalling. Actually found extra screws missing from a previous service and most likely a DIY that was rushed or just DGAF. Have to do this again after the new element arrives, tried the thermal regulators a start BUT coils in the back were sagging, grounding to the tube and warped the back part of the coil array panel. Isn't so hard to do once you e done it once, biggest pain was getting the back screw back in. Ended up taking the belt off the motor and pulled the drum which made everything easily accessible. Didn't find much lint either so it had to have been serviced since it's a 1/11 manufactured date. Thanks for the vid and all the helpful comments, certainly not my first dryer teardown BUT first past 2k.

I have only 3 tricks to add, and they are all for the evil back screw. I used a right angle drill adaptor and a very long ratchet extension. (search DEWALT Right Angle Attachment, Impact Ready (DWARA120)) it worked a charm to take it off. To put it back on, first stretch the hole of the new heater with the screw that will go into it. Second, put a cellphone on flashlight, slide it inside the heater end so the light goes inside. You will see the light coming through the hole when you are properly aligned. The rest is just to screw it back in. Cheers!

Thanks for making this video. Looks like you've helped a bunch of people! One thing, where did you get that list of error codes? I have to make a run to my daughter's house...her dryer isn't heating!
    Thanks again...

You’re welcome. That error list was taped on the inside of the front upper panel.

When you go back in to replace the heating element again, would you take notice of how the red wires are connected to the side.
I think I might have switched the two back ones around. They are the ones that connect to the limit switch. I labelled mine 3 and 4. The front 2 are 1&2. I labelled the front 3 (gray) like you did, T,M,B.
    Thanks.

I have this dryer and it’s not sending the error code. However it’s no longer heating the hot air. Would I be looking to get a new heating element?
It blows cold air, just no heat.

Hi! We replaced the heater element as shown on your video. Reset dryer to factory settings. No heat is being produced. Also the thermistor and electronic control board has been replaced due to error codes 61 and 72. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hey there! I ordered the heating element through your link. I've discovered that the screw holes for the wiring attachments on the sides (for the red. wires) are too small for the screws ... even using the drill it's just starting to strip the screws. Did this happen to you? Is the solution to buy new screws, or to bore the holes bigger? TIA!

    • @CesarCinema
      @CesarCinema  4 роки тому

The holes were a little smaller on the new heating element and I was able to just tighten the screws until they went all the way in. It was a little difficult at first but eventually muscled through it. I would try new screws before messing with the holes if I was you. Please let us know how you fix this problem in case others have the same issue.

My dryer didn’t give me an error code, but it won’t spin when turned on. It just makes a sound like it’s on but doesn’t move. I took it apart and the belt is fine. Was your dryer acting this way with that error code you received?

@Caesar Cinema, am I about to buy the right part? My dryer is heating, but stops when the E64 code starts beeping. I don't know if I'm just not understanding the terminology when you say not heating. A guy says, "well you need a new thermostat, that'll be $$!"...Do I really need a thermostat, or the part in this tutorial? I dont want to pay a guy that may not know what is really the issue. Help me out please.

The heating element fixes the E64 error code and it only cost $38 if you use my link. I would try to fix it myself first and go from there.
