HOW TO MAKE THE PENNEL RIG - EPISODE 2 (UK SEA FISHING)

- In this episode we look at how to make a pulley pennel rig.
A fantastic rig which can be used over clean and mixed ground.
The rig uses two hooks and is normally used to present larger baits for example whole squid or a larger fish bait.
The bottom hook holds the bait and the top hook which is usually either a circle hook or an octopus pattern hook secures the top of the bait.
Most fish are caught on the top hook.

Good video. I used to twist the line round the upper hook as you did but it does tend to kink the line somewhat. Now experimenting with rig tubing to hold the upper hook in place. Seems to work O.K. What's you experience of large fish (e.g. Thornback Ray) gorging on both hooks making it difficult to unhook the fish? Cheers. Ken
I havent tried rig tubing but seems a good idea
For the top hook i tend to use a circle as most of the time the fish will take the top circle hook and the way it is designed is to slide into the corner of the fishes mouth
