Thanks for that I will have to try this when I do winter fishing etc but mackerel fish just now. Took my granddaughter out and she caught a wee sand eel, a mackerel and a duck tight lines till the next one
Another great video. Personally, I'm not too keen on the zip sliders. Have had several fail in the past when the metal lead slip has parted from the plastic slider. Much prefer the Gemini lead link with in built swivel - stronger and more streamlined. Cheers. Ken
Hi, great video, when fishing from the beach with a grip lead and this set up, do you still real in to the point of bending the rod slightly with a tight line or are you better off just leaving it slack and waiting for the fish to run off to detect the bite ?
Hi cheers for watching and thanks for your comment I personally tend to put my baited hook over a spike or on bigger baits lay the bait over 2 of the spikes and cast out. Once cast out i leave it for a few seconds to settle Reel in the slack so i can feel the lead grip Put rod back into rest And loosen drag slightly This way i know the lead wont move and when the fish takes it the line will just go
It is hightly advised to use a shock leader with lower lb mono and braid I hardly ever use mono now as its just not for me and i prefer the braid On my spare spool i use 24lb fireline with asso tapered leader think its 15lb to 80lb or something like that If im fishing where it is more crowded or during a comp i use this for saftey over the straight through But now seeing as i mostly fish late at night and for pleasure where there is no one to be seen it makes sense to just use the braid straight through its much more cost effective as you dont have the hassle of replacing the leaders or loosing them when / if you get snagged.
@@TheEastbourneFisherman now I understand, is braid that much stronger? Thinking of getting my gear out again and going local to Aldeburgh or Felixstowr

@@TheEastbourneFisherman depending on where I am fishing I will tie a stop knot on my mainline to stop it going too far they hook themselves
