My sister's ex got screwed over by Punch/ Enterprise! They were promised loads of help with the upstairs accommodation refurbishment as it was in a right state!! Just lie after lie they got!! Enterprise just kept fobbing them off to the point that they actually said they hadn't got time to revisit the pub to discuss the issues! In the end after twelve months, they just left at a moments notice!! The ironic thing is, Punch head office is literally four miles from the actual pub!! 🤪🤪 To anyone who doesn't know, Enterprise works on behalf of big businesses like Punch! The sooner more of these micropubs come on the scene the better in my opinion! Where a landlord/lady can either buy outright an old little shop or get a reasonable rent the better! It's heartbreaking to see over the years so many young publicans with their families get literally fucked over by these c***s!! 😡
I once had the *most* hilarious food experience of my life in Five Swans Spoons in Newcastle. Me and the missus were meeting up with some friends there, and after a couple pints we got peckish and my missus oredered a veggie burger and a corn on the cob. What came out was one of the funniest/saddest sights of my food eating life. A dead ass, dry veggie burger, sitting limply between 2 nearly stale pieces of burger bread, with a finger nail sized piece of onion slapped on top of the burger. No sauce. I was howling out loud at her expression much to the confusion of the other drinkers on the tables next to us. But what came next tipped me over the edge. The waiter comes over and slaps down a big bowl, with what appeared to be 1/8th of a corn cob, with no butter and said "Hope you enjoy your meal!". I went back up to the heaving bar to ask "Can we have the rest of our cob please?", and about 15 minutes later the waiter comes back with another 1/8th of a cob in a different bowl. Needless to say our table was belly laughing for at least 30 minutes after this. Although it was funny, the corn cob was like £2.5 and the burger was something like £8 (with chips). We didn't make a fuss about it, because the amusement of the situation was easily worth the money. But, you can definitely get shit food at spoons.
Wasn’t a fan of the food at the local Wetherspoons when my family first went out to it, but it always seemed lively and full of cheer. I won’t fault Tim for his business decisions, given the effort he puts into making things work.

Well done, Tim! You're a terrific asset to this country, for your staff and customers.
spot on, pubs were a joke, the large brewers screwed the managers and landlords and could not give a shit about customers. The big brewers took over the local firms, closed them and sold piss....probably a lot of piss!
Wetherspoons prices are 50% cheaper than most of the pubs around me here in the South East, a lot of independant pubs charge more when there is little competition.

I and other mates met Tim Martin in the Metropolitan Bar, near Baker Street, London NW1. We chatted at a table with him and he was friendly and relaxed. 🍻
Ken Morrison used to just turn up at his supermarkets unannounced and would talk to the customers. Just like Tim Martin. He always knew what the customers wanted. It just goes to show that the personal touch makes such a difference. I like the way Tim has utilised the old buildings and they all have kept their local names. When ever we go anywhere, we always look to see if there is a Wetherspoons. It is always good value. 👍
Great interview with two great people, what’s not to like eh.

his pubs, but you get, reasonable, food, & drink for
your, buck! Ordinary, people can, afford to wine&dine at
reasonable prices. Also, lots of, college, & University kids
are, employed, plus, suppliers, it goes on!
He was up against Punch and Enterprise. the worst two evils to ever hurt British pubs!
Tim managed to come out on top.
To anyone who doesn't know, Enterprise works on behalf of big businesses like Punch!
The sooner more of these micropubs come on the scene the better in my opinion! Where a landlord/lady can either buy outright an old little shop or get a reasonable rent the better! It's heartbreaking to see over the years so many young publicans with their families get literally fucked over by these c***s!! 😡
Cheers Tim, we like your pubs.
Loved this ❤️
Wetherspoons is always good for lunch. Never had a bad meal. Well done Tim!
i have. 1/50 meals bad, can forgive that stat. whitby spoons sold me a dead leather boot for a steak once, i counld chew it was so tuff!
Like crap food do you?

WTF are you two drinking? If I was in a 'spoons' I would have sent back those cloudy pints! Shame on you, Nige! Wetherspoons is a wonderful UK (and Ireland) institution, amazing, democratic and great quality of surroundings and real ale - anyone middle-aged can compare the local 'spoons' to pubs in the 70s or 80s - a stale ale and a curled up ham sandwich in most of them. Well done, Tim! You're a terrific asset to this country, for your staff and customers.
