This section needed to be a lot longer; hell, give hitchens his own show. He fits the GB news bill of representing original viewpoints more than almost anyone else
That would be fantastic.
They didn't even get on to lockdowns as Nigel promised. This definitely needed to be longer and go into a lot more detail, especially the differences between these two men's opinions. Could have been fascinating.

The thing I love most about Peter Hitchens is he truly formulates his own opinion on every single topic and will express it, regardless of public opinion or who he is talking to.

Calling it a vaccine gets emergency use authorisation. Calling it a vaccine has positive connotations with the public.
Experimental jab is what it is, and would make people think twice about the lack of longitudinal impact data on human health. We are already seeing spiralling cases of pericarditis in young males.

Agreed. Tucker Carlson has a new show over in the US (Tucker Carlson Originals, or something similar) and it occupies an hour's slot in the schedule so it would be great to see far more time alotted to this type of chat.
Yes i like to listen to both these two , its too short and Nigel needs to be a little less shouty and calm down, may be because he is trying to cram as much in, in a short conversation.

I love the fact Hitchens is honest about his former opinions. He often gets smeared and dismissed because of them, but it is the mark of an intelligent fellow who can change his mind with honesty.

The fact his opinions change every time he speaks never seems to bother anyone.
Peter Hitchens has never been a dull listen, though we don't share a great deal of parity in our views. I'm a few decades younger so perhaps my cynicism has yet to undergo it's full marination! His voice however is unquestionably an important one, the introduction didnt do him much justice, he's more than a journalist, he's a polemicist. Whatever you think of him, his patriotism has never been in doubt. Courageous man. This is fast becoming a decent segment on British news, who'd have thought?

Peter Hitchens is a man of substance and integrity. Very rare in modern times.

Peter is very smart, totally negative, and was quite insulting to Farage - as, by dint of his haughty dismissal of anything other than his own opinion, he is to practically everyone he discusses anything with. Farage is indeed 'down to earth' and focused on achieving things .. Hitchens is content to smart in his own bubble, making little contribution.

Pretty much all Mailonline comments sections are moderated now. For a paper that is supposed to advocate for free speech, they sure don't practice what they preach!

I know the show has a certain format, but please have Peter Hitchens on again for more segments. This is great stuff!
People say a lot about Farage, but here, in front of an audience, with a pint, he has a chat and thrashes it out with a critic, while giving his critic a platform.
Although he is a populist (presenting simple solutions to complicated problems), and plays to the electorate's baser instincts, this programme is decent.

I loved listening to Christopher (NOT Chris please!!!) as well except for his occasional overt vulgar sleezyness. However I am much more at home with Peter's unashamed 'uptightness'. If you look up the debate between the two brothers I thought Peter won convincingly but he cannot compete with Christopher's amazing sense flair and he knew it.

Peter’s views on drug legislation are pre-historic and completely illogical. It surprises me how intelligent people like Hitchens think that a war on drugs is the best way to reduce health issues and maximise rehabilitation.

Much as I like and admire Nigel Farage I have to say that Peter Hitchens talks the most common sense of any body. I admire him for his outspoken truths. Go you Peter.

In Hitchens opinion I do not have right to determine what I put in my own body, seems authoritative to me, am I not free to make my own choices as long as I cause harm to no other.

But yes you are right alcohol is very addictive and dangerous as heroin and cocaine and is just as lethal. Whilst damaging family and friends to, as they can suffer just as much in the pain. Unfortunately I only know to well as I am a recovering addict, but I would never judge or hinder someone who can just enjoy a pint or two. Enjoy your w/e.

I desperately want to like & supper Peter Hitchens but I simply can’t. His brother Christopher was a 1000 times more charismatic, and put simply came to better conclusions.

I agree, his show should start at 6-8 replace the droning noise of Michelle Dewbury, she is so unprofessional, totally out of her depth, I know she is a local girl made good but sometimes that’s not enough.

@@dfd7376 That's because he knows that he didn't concentrate on trade, Farage main aim was as he said, but Hitch tried to make it sound otherwise ! if someone said something about you live on tv and you knew it wasn't the whole truth what would you have done "Agreed" no of course not don't be so naive, yes he probably expanded his reasons for our independence but you are obliged to give more than just one or two reasons for leaving, you have to expand when journalists ask the questions GET REAL MAN 🤦♀️🤦♂️🤷♀️ but that doesn't change Nigel's main stance, you must of been living under a bushal if you don't know that, god help us !

Peter Hitchens used to be a voice of reason and sanity in a world of cant and hypocrisy. But now, I think he is losing it. For him to be anti-EU but not vote in the referendum does not add up or make sense !

@Spartacus Yes yes , bitter is right for you, tell me do you have a reclaimed stripped pine table which you have your gammon and pineapple on ? only i worked in some intellectuals houses around Hampstead and Richmond and they were rather keen on stripped pine tables , trouble is they weren't very clean and all that muesli and salad became ingrained, made me realise these these intellectual knobs weren't so grand after all.

Much prefer Nigel’s approach - realistic but positive and hopeful. You don’t get that with Peter, all criticism and no solutions.

@Stanley Blues I don't agree with his stance on drugs, but I do like to hear both sides of the argument and Peter unapologetically argues his stance.
