he's talked more sense in 18 minutes than boris has since he's been in office.
Unfortunately, he's talking out his arse.
@@neecosse unfortunately you have no clue at all what you are talking about.
@@neecosse You are talking out of yours!
One of the few true conservatives left in the party! Love to see Steve Baker on here as well.
True conservatives only look after their money and that of their fellow plutocrats. They control a zombie army that wins them elections and keep them in power. They have brought GB quite a few notches down in the ranking of nations.
@Gold Man The Tories always seem to find the woorse examples to emulate. Not that they are too far behind the Modi government, what with the VIP friends lines to milk the state. Just look at the 37bn that were spirited away for a T&T service that didn't work
Steve Baker is too politically correct. He is the type that worries about minority groups after a jihadist has tried to bomb a women's hospital.
We need more like both of you to stop our country deteriorating so rapidly.
These two are actually one of the reasons why the country is going tits up. They are vicious reactionaries with plump bank accounts and they make most of their money through financial speculation. Not much in common with ordinary British people. They manipulate a section of the populace by spreading spite and anger. Some people with a tendency to the dark side admire them for their ruthless contempt.
@@luisbustamante9869 😂
Quicker than that.
Why has the conservatives turned into the Green Party, it won’t get my vote again, no chance.
I really hope you remember this at the next General Election but i doubt it!
@@bronx3522 Sadly, the electorate has the memory of a gold fish and is far less intelligent. That said a 5th column has completely crippled Labour in the last century and continues to do so.
@@ghostdog4330 yes i agree the Labour Party desperately needs to get it's credibility back!
Because Doris has suffered a breakdown since his Covid event and is now a glove puppet to Mde Nut Nuts, the ‘green’ extremist.
@@bronx3522 since when did it have any credibility?
Really enjoyed Jon Redwood who knew he was so jolly 😀
What a refreshing look at our country ! Wow !
@@scottiedog4236 Yep! Like looking into a tomb full of vampires.
Well done John and expertly orchestrated by Nigel - Quality
More like talking BS, talk about the great reset Nigel?
Look at the WEF forum on UA-cam, answers everything we don't have answers for!
These two are responsible for the collapse of GB in the last 5 years. They are financial speculators only interested in creating opportunities to make more money and they used their zombie army to win votes for the right. They do so by poisoning their minds and rendering them incapable to see what's happening to them. For people like John and Nigel the truth is like a wooden stake to a vampire.

Nigel please tell Mr Redwood if the Tories don't get rid of BORIS Johnson soon then the Tories are finished just like labour.
Sad but true
@@paulukjames7799 But if they replaced him with JR?
Just isn't true. Labour are sow bad and so unliked and just a mess qnd if PM Johnson called an election next week we'd still win a landslide. You don't realise how interesting people find the PM
BJ is the most popular politician in the country. No one else comes close, according to the polling. Stop thinking social media comments reflect reality, they dont
@@importantjohn Absolutely agreed! I think hes gonna have a hell of a long run
Redwood a true pro, great silver tongue love to work with him true visionary.
Listening to John Redwood is always a joy, he is so full of positivity, not the shallow kind but genuine strong, worthwhile ideas
Sir Redwood you are a breath of fresh air.
It would seem that the reason Mr redwood sits on the back benches, is because he is a conservative were as many of his colleagues are not.
This is the sort of thing we desperately need. Friendly and candid chats with politicians, without entrapment or pre agreed scripts. Give them space to explain themselves. Let’s get to know and judge our politicians for ourselves, instead of how they are made to appear by journalists or because they are cornered into defensive mode. I didn’t know much about John Redwood, but I have a much clearer picture now.
We can thank Nigel for this.
This guy should be PM
Ask him about reforming the NHS! He understands the problems!
Government is the problem. We need to end the State monopoly in healthcare, the media and everything else too.
One of my favourite Conservative MPs. I follow John on Twitter. Always something interesting to say.
He gets dogs abuse on there, so he must be saying something right.
If this guy had beaten Major we might not have got Blair and we’d be in a very different world right now.
He got into bed with Kenneth Clarke. That did him no favours.
@@carlsanderson6841 Evidently not.
1984?
Wrong….in my humble opinion, sir. By the time Redwood stood against Major the Labour lead was unassailable. 16 years in power and post-Black Wednesday the people wanted change.
The Tories had already lost the 1997 election after Black Wednesday in September 1992, or at the latest the March 1993 budget when they put VAT on fuel. Labour had 20 point leads in the poll before John Smith died.
The Tories openly feuding with each other over Europe which was a completely irrelevant issue to the public at the time (it only really became important after Cameron became PM), also made them look ridiculous.
A great bloke. Redwood as Chancellor and IDS as PM would be a dream team
Liz Truss PM, Redwood Chancellor, ISD Home Secretary, Mogg Foreign Secretary, David Davis Defence Secretary, Jeremy Clarkson Transport Secretary.
If only JR was PM. The BBC hated him and did him down all the time. He was just too good for them.
He is the prince of darkness. He attracts people by appealing to their dark side. You fall under his spell at your own peril. Once rightwingers get into people's head they are very, very difficult to extirpate.
What a breath of fresh air!
John Redwood
Would make a fine prime minister
We
NEED
Someone of his calibration
And belief in his country
I just hope he’d throw his hat in the ring when the tory party elect a new leader
Love John redwood. He was great for brexit. Yes we need our OWN energy.
Superb MP.
Speaks for millions
"You can't tax a nation into prosperity" - Thatcher M.
JR was her policy adviser.
Churchill said that taxing yourself into prosperity was like standing in a bucket and lifting yourself up by the handle! Or similar
@@lesleywillis6177 Correct. Very true..
@@lesleywillis6177 That's what Labour have always failed to understand but prosperity an wealth are anathema to them because they need to live in the 'working class' syndrome.
@@howardt9689 Wealth for themselves though. But not for you and me.
He’s a character 👍
If the public had seen that side of JR he'd easily have become a PM
Lovely patriotic British man is Redwood. So is Nigel.
Highly impressive, more please from John Redwood. His attitude is why we voted for Brexit. The current lot are very down-beat and obsessed with the green agenda (which the public are not).
I commented a few days ago about the civil service running the country , nice to hear a politician agreeing with me.
the civil service are the unofficial opposition.
What a brilliant interview, John Redwood had me fired up again!
He’d be in my cabinet. Johnson could be so much better with MPs like John in. Makes me think Boris is scared of quality.
Reality of it is that borris has to do what his wife tells him to do
Great politician Sir John Redwood.
Brilliant interview Nigel and at least there are a few Conservatives that tells the truth well done Sir John Redwood maybe he should be P.M G.B news never fells us great stuff
I find these pints fascinating. My parents have very strong opinions about politicians.
I have very strong opinions about imbeciles running the country.
I should add that the imbeciles who keep these politicians running the country also need a mention.
@@luisbustamante9869 so you would blame the public? interesting.
@@AutoAlligator Not the public, more the roughly 40% that keep electing the Tories. These voters switch off their brains when it comes to politics and consistently end up being the turkeys who vote for Christmas. This results in the rich having Christmas dinner everyday and the rest of the population picking up the tab.
@@luisbustamante9869 So you think it would be better under labour?
@@MsJackcool69 Good question. Present Labour is like Tory without the clowns. It's more of the same without the thrills and the pancake warfare. I know I'm going to be trashed here for saying this but I think Corbyn had the best package, with an inclusive vision that drew the line between working people and the plutocrats that manipulate society for their own benefit.
Thank God we saved the £ all those years ago. Brexit would have been a more remote prospect otherwise..
That was John Redwood's influence. Thank god for it.
Should never have gone decimal. Money has never been the same since we changed.
How is this man not PM? He's maybe the best PM we never had during his time in politics.
He's way too good and smart to be in the hornets nest.
Support UKIP's Referendum on Immigration Campaign.
So much slime in one room eergh
Can you get coasters for your pints, it drives me nuts, that clanking? :)
My local MP. A decent guy and a true intellect unlike too many on the front benches.
enthusiastic guest, brilliant show
Legend has it, Sir John is still talking...
John Redwood is a genius. Shame he isn’t Chancellor
A politician with principles, wow!
Put the tax on what we buy. But not essential items. Just the extras.
He’s still razor sharp. What a shame he’s not in Government. I think we know why: he’d show the current lot up ….
With this calibre of human being up for election, how come folk rather elect nutjobs?
I remember John Redwood being referred to as "the Stalking horse" or the like... He comes across well here to my mind but at the time he was held in a dim light. Nowadays if he did the same he would be held in higher regard given the contemporary comparisons!
I think the accurate description of the picture is that Redwood has remained largely consistent and the politicians around him have deteriorated massively in quality.
Maybe they need to ruffle up the civil service to play the right tune
Sir John needs to stop talking and start SHOUTING from the back benches, what a great guy he is. He mentioned contacting our MP about things. We've contacted our MP so often about what the things the Tory party are doing he's stopped replying to us, what a complete waste of time he is, and I bet he's not the only one.
Someone that understands how things work
I wish John and nigel were in the government, we might have a better country .
Single best political conversation i've ever watched broadcasted.....almost at a canter. Redwood - fascinating.....however full applause to both participants.
Redwood is brilliant 👏
There is a reason they called him the Vulcan. True logic and intellect and he is wasted, he would make an excellent Chancellor.
You're forgetting the lack of empathy for those worse off than him.
"This is a great country". Truth is it was a great country, government meddling and living on a reputation Britain no longer deserves is the truth of the matter today, the attitudes of politicians now is such that they are not elected to serve the electorate but are elected to rule over us.
Why not burn our own gas come on John that’s to simple for these politicians to understand
Two of my favourite politicians chatting & both with real job experience, what bliss!
I think we are seeing the inevitability of low taxation (resulting in a white-hot economy) that is justified by the Laffer curve. Inflationary pressures (that cause price increases) & high taxation are driving a significant proportion of the population towards destitution & it can’t go on.
That was good free speech and a pint
You reduce the number of MPs to 1 mp per county and four deputies for each sector of that county ie north south east and west, and abolish the House of Lord's ASAP.
It’s a crying shame that politicians such as Sir John are sitting on the back bench. He knows that the current Conservative party are moving in the wrong direction but is too loyal to rock the boat. Maybe, for the long term survival of the party, people such as him need to make their voices heard more in the party. The present bunch really are a waste of time.
I compare JR with Johnson, Patel, Shapps, etc and I weep for the loss of proper conservatives running the country. His constituents are very fortunate to have such an MP.
Redwood is a great man.
He's a fellow of All Souls.
Well done Sir John! Very enjoyable iinterview to watch. As usual he spoke a lot of sense. So much experience over the years in government. Always enjoy his blog. Loyal to Boris. Tremendously loyal to this country. I think Nigel Farage skill in interviewing came through and enabled Sir John to give his views, reminisce over being a Eurosceptic and what he would like Boris and his team to do eg. Low taxes
This is the leadership and policy Britain needs. If only we didn’t vote on personality and looks and voted on ideas and intelligence.
John is a top man👍
The first question might better have been ‘why with your experience have you been on the back benches and not a Minister during the last ten years.’
What an excellent interview . Sir John really does make the point of low taxes . Since Brexit I have often said to people the government should make the UK a very low tax country to attract more and more international business more of the international wealthy aswell as encouraging British owned business to relocate back to the UK and making it easy for self employed and sole traders to operate . There must be dozens of ways to bring in huge tax revenues and this then would allow the gov to rreally cut taxes for individuals .
Nice Nigel 👍🇬🇧
Now we are finally out of the clutches of the EU why has the EU tax system of VAT not been removed. This after all was a tax system imposed on the UK by the EU, we are no longer under their system so why has VAT not been replaced or is it just a case of,(Nice little earner there Rodders my old son) says today's Del Boy.
"Wokingham" - sounds like Dianne Abbott should live there.
Funny how backbenches can't challenge Patel....another multi millionaire Jr..blames civil service
The civil service has a lot to answer for - steeped in the past, unable to rise to the challenge of the future.
I always liked JR from the beginning.
Sir John should replace Sunackers as Chancellor...
never seen JR so enthused and agree his skills are underused at present.
he's associated with Thatcher that's why. Also he's waaayy too intelligent & knowledgeable for our woke generations.
I m glad Redwood is on the backbenches, If he was in Cabinet he would have to follow what he was told where he can object to Policies of the Government that he does not like . Keep up the good work and keep the Government on there toes , but at the moment they think they can get away with anything and do what they want ,but this will bite them on there arse at the next election
Agree. With Major after Thatcher.., I voted for this barrister creature..big mistake!
Sir JR gets my vote.
What a great guy Sir J R is he believes in what i believe in love it not a woke in sight
Yep a civil service dragging us back!
Top man.
Should have stopped paying vat the moment we left the eu.
He does avoid questions well
Top man!!
Tell Redwood to drink up. He's hardly touched that pint!
The worst cabinet in history?? Absolutely
if it ain't broke, don't fix it .Change, change, change. The more it's changed the more they break it. Oxymoronic bureaucracy
GREAT TO HEAR THE POSITIVE ATTITUDE OF JOHN REDWOOD. IT'S LIKE LISTENING TO THATCHER. FORGET THIS STUPID WOKE NONSENSE.
Boris is out of his depth completely with these two.
Nigel’s 100% right Conservatives are just slightly better labour and Lib Dem’s. The only good thing is more funding for the military and building more ships. But attempting to cut troops is stupid, we need conscription for prisoners, homeless. Reform UK is the party for people.
I quite like Sir John, he was crap at singing the Welsh Anthem though.
Yes the BBC made sure you remembered that . you have been brainwashed against JR.can you not see that. He is just too good for them.
@@JohnnyNorfolk Nobody has brain washed me old boy. As for the Beeb I have not had a TV licence for more than 12 years, nor a TV come to that. I just remember that Mr. Redwood was unable to learn 'Mae hen wlad fyn Nhadau' which amused me at the time.
Look Mum a real Conservative.
Major was economically a successor to Thatcher. Forget the EU issue economically has was VERY similar. Major was a Thatcherite in many ways but not on Europe like fighting devolution too.
Nigel is wizard at bring out the best in people . It makes one sad to think that political personalities, who have been characterized as stupid, weak or incompetent, are in fact very capable but were doomed to be branded as mediocre by those who would keep them down.
We thought we were voting for a Conservative Party , but that turned out not to be the case!
„If the Conservative Party were your refrigerator, all your food would go bad. If it were your car or bicycle, you would be stranded by the side of the road. If it were your accountant, you would be bankrupt. If it were your lawyer, you would be in prison. If any consumer good, service or profession so consistently and predictably disappointed or failed in its ostensible main purpose, people would turn their backs on it. It would be overtaken, replaced and driven out of business by a better competitor.“ - Peter Hitchens
Not enough austerity for you? And to think, you didn't see the signs.Clearly hard of thinking.
@@seanmoran6510 That sums up both of our main parties .
All ministers should have experience in the subject before they are appointed as ministers. John Redwood should be Chancellor but Boris is scared of him.
Not scared of him, just uncorruptable.
The irony is theyve discovered oil and gas off the coast of Northern Ireland.
what they have gas & oil there
Tax on fuel will be lost in the green agenda
Nigel Farage IS EXCELLENT. There is a load of stuff I know about Farage! HOW come HE isn't the U.K.'s Prime Minister!?
