Oh that's weird, I didn't realize it was gone. Some other displacement maps I use often are from a site called LocationTextures. They sent me a free pack but for most people, you'll have to pay a bit of $. They're nicer and more unique and intricate than JSplacement though so I would still recommend it. (I'm not affiliated)

@@maxhayart The guy who made it was getting a lot of abuse from ppl who wanted him to add in all sorts of things (which is a ridiculous request for a free product). Also apparently ppl were trying to sell it as their own or sell packs of the generated textures, which goes against the terms of service.

It just takes a lot of good tutorials and a lot of practice with more or less simple stuff. Every complex scene can be broken down into simple steps. Same goes for shaders, geometry nodes etc.

Now that's my kind of shit haha. Totally agree with the last point, once you've found the groove you can just pump out image after image based off just one idea. That's just how abstract art is, I guess.

I usually really enjoy Max's tutorials and am always appreciative of his time and generosity in sharing his techniques. Unfortunately, this tutorial was a little lacking. A bit too rushed and edited-skipped to be useful. There were some really useful parts, no doubt, but there were a lot of times where the video edit would jump after Max had done some additional steps that weren't seen. My render ended up looking nothing like Max's, probably because there were some settings that weren't explained.

They should be square from Bridge, so shouldn't be stretched, unless there is a mapping issue in the material? In the material editor add _Mapping_ and _Texture Coordinate_ nodes (if you have Node Wrangler addon enabled, just click on the texture node and press CTRL+T)

@@tukakuga Thanks, I managed to find them - they are called "Viewport Underlays" and "Show Gizmos", the middle two clickable icon regions in the top right corner of the 3D Viewport.
A few more things I'd like to add:
1 ) You can right click on the menu and under "Header" (first in the list) untick "Show Header".
      2) In the Preferences under "Themes" go to "3D Viewport" look for "Camera Passepartout" and change its colour to something matching your scene (white, black, some specific colour), then select your camera object, go to its "Data" panel, and in the "Viewport Display" section make sure to enable the passepartout and crank it up to 1.00 to block out anything that is not rendered.
      3) In the sidebar (press N - I don't know the name) go to View and under the "View Lock" section make sure that the "Camera to View" option is enabled.
This way I have a clean setup for a rendered viewport that is also fixed - I won't accidentally rotate out of it.

Dude, I absolutely love your videos, and have been following you on instagram for a while now. I have a very noob question that I can't seem to find anywhere. I can see your viewport rendered shader updates every step you take with sort of like a "smoke" effect, where as my viewport rendered shader updates as "grains" (I really don't know how to explain it in another way lol), what is the difference? I'm running an i7 at 4 Ghz and an Nvidia RTX 2080 and I have my cycles setting to OptiX. Thank you and keep on making these videos :)

    • @SkinnyBlackout

Orthographic has no "perspective". It'll be much easier for you to just see for yourself, just go into blender, make a scene with a cube, point a camera at it and switch to orthographic, you'll see the difference immediately.
