Worst sunburn of my life, was when I used a spay SPF and missed a spot about the size of a bay’s fist on my décolletage and went to a beach in southern Florida, in Springtime. I did NOT reapply. I remember being at the airport heading home and slowly seeping blood in that one spot through my brand new blouse.
It was horrible and I can’t believe there’s no scar from it.
I was never so careless again.

I can add a sunscreen tip! Especially for the face! Find a good quality sunscreen that you absolutely love the FEEL of and you will find yourself applying much more of it and much more often! Like, I tried to always apply enough sunscreen, but once I got a light layer applied, I just couldn’t bear to put any more on LOL! Same thing definitely goes for reapplication! Now, my personal current favorite is Australian gold SPF 50 face… I swear I feel like I am applying luxury cream and I find myself smoothing it on in the manner that you see fancy women in 1940s and 50s movies applying creams LOL!! Same thing with my body sunscreen… Now, I’ll be honest, I’m not 100% sure about the quality, LOL, but Hawaiian Tropic sheer touch with shimmer SPF 30 and Coppertone glow SPF 30 are my current favorites to slather all over my body for daily use and for special occasions or late afternoon/evening wear, I like art naturals summertime glow… It’s almost like an oil but somehow creamy and it leaves my skin just so… Sexy!
Anyway, the point being, find a decent sunscreen with a decent SPF in a form and texture that you love and you eventually WILL find yourself slathering in it!! 😍🥰

Some spray sunscreen products do put spray-on-the-hand application on their direction and it makes a lot of sense - the product will not get into the eyes, nose and mouth, and it’s easier to see the exact amount of sunscreen to put on after the propellants evaporate. But some people just ignore it and put them directly on their faces. It makes me cringe 😱😷

I have Pacifica coconut mineral sunscreen spray SPF30. I apply it in my bathroom where I can see it, then rub it into my skin to make sure it's everywhere, not just where the sprayer was aimed. I'm not crazy about the scent which is fake coconut but it does fade after it dries. Since it's only SPF 30, I only use it on occasion for short periods outdoors of less than 1 hour. My main sunscreen is an SPF 50 cream in a tube which is also fragrance free, thankfully. :) Have a safe Memorial Day Dr. Dray! :-)

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist leaves absolutely no cast. I spray it into my hands generously then rub it into my face and neck. Never irritates my skin, although I believe it may have irritated my eyelid once so maybe steer clear of putting it on eyelids. Hi Dr. Dray - Question: I'm still looking for a good makeup setting spray with SPF but most spray sunscreens are for body use only and would break me out (rosacea). Can you recommend a facial sunscreen for reapplying SPF to the face while wearing makeup?? Thank you!

    • @DrDrayzday

these can be used on the face, but you should spray into your hands and rub on your face

A makeup puff is a great way to reapply over makeup if you need to. I rarely spend enough time in the sun when I’m wearing makeup to need to reapply, but I’ve experimented with this ‘just in case.’ Spray in hand and then gently apply with the puff. That being said I avoid wearing makeup if I know I’m going to be in the sun so much I need to reapply. You can get UV film put on car windows, home and work windows which drastically reduce your sun exposure while inside reducing how often you need to reapply sunscreen if any at all (in home).

I wear sunscreen everyday and do a double wash. I could give 100 examples. Next I will be going to iherb. What are your thoughts on diy vitamin c serum (mixed with powder vitamin c)? Please know that you are a very special person that is very appreciated!

I was wondering if we could use a cream or lotion in the morning, then make up as usual (i dont use a lot of make up) and to use sprays for reapply during the day, since to put more sunscreen over the make up is a no and remove and reapply is not cost effective.
Is it a bad idea? You have convinced me of using sunscreen so im going to start this month.

Raquel Gutierrez I actually just did some googling about this this morning, and yes to use sprays to reapply on top of make up or they said there are some powders that have sunscreen so you can reapply that way while also touching up your make up.

Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. I do Triathlons and was looking for a good spray to use in between each discipline. I do apply a lotion one before the race but after getting out of the water I do like to reapply but don’t have much time so the sprays do help with saving time. I agree the lotions are better and that’s what I usually use but when seconds count during a race the sprays are very convenient.

Sprays are convenient to apply maybe twice for a day at the beach, but they don’t work for me for regular use. I applied a couple times a day a few days in a row and my skin got super dry (like to the point of an eczema-like rash) from all the alcohol in them

Dr Drey, Pre-Covid whenever i used to go to the beach I would just dread it when I would see somebody whip out a can of spray SPF, because you always get a good wiff, lung full, mouth full of it. And you don’t even need to be very close to them to experience the toxic fallout.

My boyfriend won't use anything but spray. I don't like it but I guess it's better than nothing. I usually spray it on for him and I about suffocate him when I spray it on his neck and face. He shuts his eyes and holds his breath. It works better in small layers.🌞

@@janitajasmin Have you ever tried Australian Gold SPF 50 for the face? It's fragrance free and slightly tinted. It has a matte finish so it's very popular to use as a makeup primer as well.
