No but you have to make sure you have the plug in for it on the back side of your steering wheel buttons

They plug into the back of the control button

@@dmcbuilds1891 i bought an 2014 A8L steering wheel thats the same style as mine being a 4 spoke, i have a 2012 A6, everything works except the paddles. do i have to code it? if so how do i do that

it looks like you have heating steering wheel , did you lose that feature with the new steering wheel?

Yes unfortunately but I’d rather have the paddles over the heated wheel because I don’t use it much
