This Mustang is awesome. The Ford Rep answered all of Jay's questions, and is a real "car guy." Remember the guy from GM and the new Military vehicle Jay checked out a couple weeks back? What a complete tool. Phony, slick talker, avoided answering Jay's questions! This gentleman from ford is just a down to earth, nice, knowledgeable, and honest guy. Thanks!

I liked the rep. When he didn't know something, he just said so. He didn't make-up some sales story. Honesty goes a long way when representing your brand. My 1st car was a 1964.5 Mustang my Grandma bought brand new. She came to live with us in 1968. My Mom drove the car a bit but didn’t like no power steering or power breaks. I however loved it. That was before the 289 CID V8. Mine had a 260 CID and a trans that could start out in 2nd gear from a dead stop to improve starting up in snow and or rain. It was really cool 1st car. @@robertmcmanus636 maybe... Maybe not... Either way, EV tech is getting to the point where they simply make more sense than ICE vehicles for most applications. So I think, even if we took the environmental factor out (and the relative environmental impact is very debatable), we've all but reached the end of the line of what's possible and practical for fossil fuel cars. That said, I think EVs will actually make the problems we face much, much worse in the long term... Because I'm far from convinced that greenhouse gas emissions are the biggest environmental risk factor. But that's a whole other conversation.
There is still LOTS of tech in the world of ICE. It's not all petrol and diesel. New engines are even now being invented. The issue is still the same as it was in 1910 however; Energy Density. Gasoline carries nearly 50x the energy per kilo as our best batteries. Until we solve that, and toxic lithium-based production, electric will always be aspirational.
I have been watching these Jay Lenos Garage videos like from 2014. Videos are so enjoyable and informative. I really like the guy from Ford. It´s too rare someone has his heart and passion still intact and displaying it. It takes balls for that nowadays. Not speaking carwise, just broadly... I´m not really sure but I think Jay maybe sometimes (not too much this time) is a little bit in his ego, not wanting to let the guest take too much place and subconciously want have the whole command when not necessary, but I forgive him because of the good hearted guy he seems to be. Maybe though he should start to care even about the guys on the other side.

bdyt, I hear ya! Loved Classic American muscle cars my whole life. Owned, worked on and restored Mopars GMs and Fords. Got away from that brand loyalty crap years ago as they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Never thought I’d see them come back like they did after living through the dark years of the late 70s and early 80s especially. Fun seeing them slowly fight their way back and then in some ways surpass the original muscle car years. 30 yrs ago would you ever think the big 3 would have the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger with high hp V8s being marketed against each other? Only thing that’s a bummer is Pontiac, Olds, Mercury and Plymouth couldn’t survive long enough to compete because people need their Honda’s Kias and Saturns.
Im a Camaro guy. I’m in my 4th camaro (1995 base V6, 2014 LT1/RS V6, 2019 2SS & now 2011 2SS/RS). Now THIS is a Mustang I’ll love to own tbh. It’s a beautiful color combination and those WHEELS!!! Freaking Beautiful! And With Michelin Cup Tires. Yeah this is a Muscle car for sure. Gotta love the rivalry between the two
yeah because they needed those engines for all the warranties due on those engines and they can't meet emissions for 2021 that the only reason they didn't put it in this car it cost the same to manufacture

He obviously has spent his life in Corporate Automotive Culture. Nice very heavy car.
Phil Clark designed the original mustang horse icon. Charles Keresztes designed the mustang II logo (not the 74 mustang 2, but the 63 concept) which became the iconic mustang horse. His profile mentions the Olympics when he was 17, however, as he was borne in 1925 that would at 17 be 1942 which did not have an Olympics due to WW2. It does mention he was in the Hungarian cavalry during WW2.
Always liked my performance cars with a manual. Always thought that nothing beats banging gears in an American muscle car especially a Mustang. Recently had a chance to drive a new Mustang GT with the 10 spd auto and was very impressed! Maybe it’s me getting older and lazier but when you hammer it, it just stays in the fat part of the power band and is a freaking blast! Next (newer-ish) car will be a low mile GT with direct injection and a 10spd for sure! Only thing that sucks is you know it’s going to be $$$ if you break it. A lot cheaper and easier to replace a smoked clutch than a complicated computer controlled auto.
The sound of that exhaust!! Pure Heaven!!!! Need to buy one right away one of that last of a dying breed. Before all the electric cars maybe faster but no passion and glorious noises like a V-8!!
This sounds nice! I agree. Also sounds like it has a resonator like my 2015 GT premium (for the lower legal china and europe decibel levels) take that out (weld an X or H pipe in place of) and it sounds much more down to earth. $120 dollar job so no biggie but was well worth it for me after giving it a few hundred miles for everything to settle in. Should come stock w/o in USA.
During the extra long talk and drive segment the video would show the brake lights coming on for a slow down at a curve, but the audio would have us hearing the car accelerate. It almost reminds me of the chase scene in “Bullitt” when the audio didn’t always match up with the video.
This may be a Mustang, and bring back memories of the 60’s and early 70’s, but this is still an expensive car for your average 8 to 4:30 crowd. Gone are the days when your brother working at the gas station could buy a Mach1 or a Swinger 340. Oh well, that’s how it goes now. Sometimes I feel like the only thing that hasn’t changed is me!
@@paulm6481 hell, you can get an ecoboost for less that 30k and that'll still trounce most of the old classics. The cost of living is absurdly high though, so even that isn't so attainable any more.

Big corvette guy here but after watching this review... I must say Ford is on a different level that what I thought. Will be giving Mustang a serious look going forward. Thank you Jay for the all the fun and informative videos you make :)
Looking back now. C8 is where they lost me on Corvette. C7 was still tolerable but C6 was the peak for me. I mean what I like. As for Mustang this is it. You can't even tune the new one and does not look as good as this Mach one.
Gotta laugh when people are commenting on here and they haven't even bothered to actually watch the thing yet. I guess being "first" is a big deal for them. Good job, Jay.
Jim really got down on all fours to get his point across about the muscle sculpted in the horse. Gotta love him hah. edit: feelsbadman when Jim compares the displacement of the Supercharger on the GT500's to the displacement of the 05-10 Mustang motors (I own a '06) hahaha.
I had a Mustang ecoboost and I gave that car to my son while I bought a Camaro SS. When driving on the open roads and tracks the Camaro will beat that Mustang any day, however I have to admit that when driving on the twisty side mountain roads of Southern California the ecoboost is so much more fun to drive.
That’s more a problem with the Camaro. It’s a sedan chassis with a sports car body laid over it. They’re very pretty, and have good performance. But, are also big and heavy so aren’t going to be as nimble and the same fun as a smaller lighter car. While they’ve gotten bigger and heavier the mustangs have still stayed more of a sports car.
One of the great and most underrated things about this Mach1, with the Handling package, is the stance created by the wheel and tire package: The perfect offset of the wheels with nice concavity, along with the beefy steam-roller tires... Most don't even point this out, but it goes a LONG way to the overall look.
Is he a rep for Ford or WSIR? Not a Mustang guy, but cool ride anyway and love the content after all these years! Kudos, Jay. Keep on tickin’ pard. Edit Postscript: Horace Greeley was the ,”Go West, young man...” author, iirc.
I've never been a mustang fan, but I have to admit that they're getting better. Truthfully, I don't really like any new car besides the corvette. And I really wish it had less electronics. I'm only 43, but I much prefer older cars. I think the 60s through the 80s are my favorites.
Hilarious dig at Dodge right off the bat. “Mustang wants the build the best, the Camaro guys want to be the best, Dodge wants to be the fastest in a straight line.” LOL!
It's not really a dig that's exactly what Dodge is building currently. Big comfortable cars with a lot of power of course they can't take corners well.
