    I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

    On my thick zoysia, string trimmer tends to lay the grass over if moving slowly, wants to grab and scalp if moving at a moderate speed. Scissors provide much more precise control, better cut quality and are great for beveling/rounding edges. I bought a 2nd FS 70R to have one with scissors, one with string, as string trimmer is best for against brick walls, etc.

    I picked this exact head up before mowing season started last year, and I have gotten to where I only use it for edging. I mow tall (3.5"+) and trim mostly against barriers rather than above sidewalks. I find a string does a MUCH better job trimming against something like a tall landscape edge, slab, or fence. If most of my trimming was edging against sidewalks, I wouldn't have ever gone back to the string head. I did toss out my edger attachment in favor of this, though, it REALLY shines when edging. I also use it to run a small bevel against the sidewalk edge to ease the visual lines on that grass/concrete transition.

    Nice to see different invitations etc being tested ........but I think the old fashioned trim line is still the best and here's my problems with the scissors.
    #1.Burning trim/scalping.
    #2.Getting the grass to lift up.
    #3.damage fencing,custom edging/sprinkler heads etc,underground fencing for pets lights and you will likely destroy or severely damage them but string line is alot more forgiving and is unlikely to destroy anything like I mentioned.
    Then the maintenance for greasing and sharpening but I'm super curious about how it would handle tall wet ditches where the grass is thick.

  • @alan30189
    @alan30189 2 роки тому +2

    Nice, effective tool. I think that’s designed for open areas, light brush and edging. It will tear up a tree if you hit the tree. Cutting around a pole like that might damage the tool as well as the pole. With trees, you don’t want to damage the bark on the tree with it, or as you know, you’ll kill the tree. Trees won’t live long without their bark.
    Two more nice things are, you don’t have to constantly replace string line and have all the plastic string line pieces getting into the environment, two more pluses. 👍🏼

    I enjoyed the vid and the install most of all, the charitable reason and what your doing iwith the funds is a noble gesture.👍 I think this item will pay for itself in the long run. I normally do handyman work technically I'm not a landscaper, but I've done some landscaping. This definitely facilitates the task of having to constantly replace the plastic strand again and again. However, The cost reflects its value, I would have felt more comfortable at $90-$150 bucks $240-255 is a bit steep. For me anyways considering I personally don't do enough lawns to justify the cost. It's definitely worth it though if your landscaping all day, everyday, it would make more sence to make the purchase. Thx again 👍

    I was hoping it wasn't that expensive. Yahweh knows just how much I hate broken trimmer lines, and having to fill that silly receptacle where the line is wound up. But, your video indicated that it would be really slow to create the edging between the grass and sidewalk. I got to be able to walk at normal speed and get it done. I'll keep my eye out though. Looks like I'm going to have to deal with the silly red trimmer lines for a while longer.

    Brother Pete, I always love a good rotary scissor review. But man, about made my ears bleed when you went from low talking to firing those scissors up 😩👂🏻🩸

    Till your motor wears out in 5 hours. Just use triangle line lol. It takes 5 seconds to trim around a pole with no lawsuits for metal shavings.

    I agree with this attachment , with string attachments I was unaware that I was picking up gravel and glass into parked cars and windows would shatter, then I saw on eBay for $200, I was like I’ll wait , imagine no more string and it’s the other edger attachment itself ugh more attachment I don’t need to carry, they are other company’s that have the same idea but better and cheaper too, keep looking, I’ve since retired and missed the chance as a landscaper, dad says wear your googles🫵(safety first) 🙈🙏🫵👀
