I live in South Texas I like to do my lawn work early in the morning or late in the afternoon even at night. Electric is a lot quieter. I would never consider frying up a gas string trimmer 7 on a Sunday morning
If you are cutting your lawn at 7am, a lot of times that early the grass has lots of dew on it. Supposedly when the grass is wet it doesn't get a good clean cut on the blade of the grass, especially St Augustine. You will see the tips of the blade jagged and brownish
It depends on the weather and the ambient humidity, but you can usually tell if the grass is wet just by running your fingers through it@@donrogers1000
Love they EGO line of tools. Have trimmer, 14" chain saw, and the blower. Great products, well made, durable. Can't see ever going back to gas powered products. These are just much easier to work with over all.
Probably an obvious question but how much maintenance, if any, have you had to do with ego products. I’m looking to start an all electric lawn care business. 1. So I can save money in gas but 2. Is mainly due to me not being very mechanically smart. Where I work now we just send all our equipment to the mechanic 😂
Thank you for the review. I just bought the 15 inch version for $179 at Lowe’s yesterday-there was an end of summer sale. This is my third trimmer since 2021 as the first one (Ryobi) lasted for only two summers and the Kobalt lasted for barely one summer. Both the Ryobi and Kobalt broke while I was trying to adjust the string-very complicated adjusting the string. I spent the past few months doing research on trimmers and I think this is the best one for me as it is designed to be easy to reload the string. I am pretty certain I will be ok. Thank you again for the awesome demonstration/review of this product!
I just picked that one up last week, got her going and was a little disappointed the battery died so quick and the head was vibrating quit a bit like it was out of balance. Then on my second try the bearings started making noise so it's going back to the store today! I did like the power compared to my 40c kobalt but my kobalt is already four years old and still going strong with heavy use. I found a lot of articles about these ego motor bearings exploding within 3 yes because they don't have any grease. I think if I get another one I'm going to tear apart the motor and grease the bearings and see if I can figure out what kind they take to keep on hand for the long haul because I don't like people touching my stuff even though it would be free replacement under warranty.
@@Laurel-Crowned Wow, hopefully I won’t have any problems with mine. I was able to easily adjust the string. I have a small property so battery life is not a concern.
@@macristo33 well I decided to take the head apart before returning it and there was a piece of plastic rattling around in there that turned into a little ball that sounded just like dry ball bearings so I decided to keep it for now. I do like the power it has but I have a lot of property and very big weeds so I'm debating on getting another one or just a battery depending on the cost.
Nice video! I just bought the same model. Still $299 at Lowe’s and they gave me a free 5-pack of string. You asked whether gas or electric is a better value. To which I say “it depends” The average homeowner isn’t going to do proper maintenance, nor will be able/willing to do things like clean the air filter or have tools to change a spark plug. never mind adjusting or service a carburetor. I bet the majority of homeowners have water in their gas by spring, leading to a trip to the repair shop. So for the vast majority of homeowners, electric should be the clear choice. If you change your own oil or service your brakes, then you’re in a much smaller pool of homeowners than average. And if you’re in the lawn care business, then it’s a different ball game entirely where you have to balance uptime vs. maintenance costs but can also amortize equipment costs on your taxes.
Until they make a Gas trimmer with the PowerLoad and Line IQ feature, I'm gonna stick with my Ego. Life is short and time is the one resource you can't get back!
I’ve had that trimmer for 3 years now, with three batteries, 2 came with the snow thrower, so for summer use I never run out of power. A full 14 foot line will last about 2-3 times around your yard.
I’ve had this trimmer for a couple of years. It’s good for what it is. For the work around the farm, I use a 20 year old John Deere XT170 that is a commercial trimmer. It does the real work. The Ego is used around the house and barn, basically till the battery dies. The string loading feature is nicely done.
It is not the spark plug, it’s the carb that’s the problem. I have the lower end EGO (no carbon fiber handle, no auto line feed and no auto line load but the same power head and battery). Bought it on sale on Amazon three years ago for I think around $125, essentially the cost of the battery. Easily gets through the trimming on my 15000 sq ft property, probably about 30 minutes of trimming a mow.
I have the same exact trimmer. Unless you are doing thick, heavy trimming, you don't need to use the high setting. For normal trimming, I always use low, and the battery will last about 3 trimmings. That head will also take about 17' of line. It's a great trimmer.
We got one of these at work. Here's what I don't like 1. no bumpfeed, autofeed is crap and doesn't work. 2. the head spins the wrong way!! All professional linetrimmers in the industry spin anti clockwise 3. the whole unit isn't long enough so you're stooping over 4. the battery is waaay too heavy. We have 10ah batteries and they last a long time but weigh a ton 5. the safety trigger mechanism is a pain in the arse
Every season (sometimes 2x a season) my Toro trimmer would go down. I inherited it from Dad with the pull mechanism melted (?) ordered parts and fixed it. Next, the diaphram in the carburetor stiffened up and I replaced that. Next, the fuel lines degraded. This year, the pull mechanism was stuck and wouldn't pull out all the way. Fixed that but for some reason, it vibrated so badly my hands were getting numb. That was it. Got an Ego. I have a small yard and it's been great.
I bought the lowest model in this line and I love it. My lot is only 10k square feet so it works well for what I need it for. I love the power load for the line.
@@keen4300 I haven’t timed it but I can do my whole front and backyard and still have 3/4 of charge left. I absolutely love it. I have to wear a strap because it’s a little heavy.
@naturegirl5681 ah okay thanks. Just used it and it gets about a good hour and a half of on and off trimming. Idk how it will be years down the road I assume the battery life won't last forever.
You neglected to mention the simplicity of reloading the line. Just cut a thirteen foot piece of line off the huge spool you can buy separately (it’s a great deal to), stick it straight through the two holes in the head, push the auto-load button and it automatically winds the line into the head! No removing heads, trying to figure out which way to wind the thread, no winding line or hassling with sticking it through the holes when putting the spool back… all the BS involved with gas trimmers GONE! Far superior to my expensive Echo gas trimmer! I got the blower too and it’s amazing! And the batteries charge SUPER fast!
I've had mine for 2 years now and I love it. The line feed like you mentioned does seem to wait just a bit longer than I would like before spooling out again. But other than that no complaints
I really don’t have to “mess with” my gas trimmer. I change the spark plug every year or two. It cranks right away every time. I can weed eat for probably 1.5 hours on a single tank. My echo has been running great for years and years. I would love to try one of these battery powered trimmers though one day. Hard to believe it would out perform my echo, but I’d like to try. I did recently get the ego 765 cfm blower and I’m impressed with it.
I'm with you on the gas trimmer...my Husqvarna is running the same plug as when I bought it, starts on the first pull and it chews through deep (12-18") grass and weeds like a hot knife through butter! A full tank lasts longer than I do! 😄
I don't use Ego's string, I find it brittle, and it breaks easily, It is more economic to buy a 125FT. spool of Shakespeare line .095, cut my 14 ft length, spool it, and go to town, string lasts 4 times longer. I live in Fla. and mow year around.
I have to agree. The .095 string that came with my trimmer is absolute garbage. I was shocked at how often it broke and how fast a spool was used. If I bump the head it spools out, hits the cutter and then almost immediately breaks off to about 2 1/2 " of line on each side. Tried some Greenworks .095 line that I had laying around and it was 100% better. Just bought some Husqvarna Titanium Pro this afternoon. Would also like to try the Milwaukee .095 line.
Florida Saint Augustine grass home owner here. This is good to know. I see these videos with thin grass and I’m like “not my grass, mine is way thicker.”
U did well on your video. My black and decker electric trim/edger combo was hurting my back trimmer being short. It's a pain pulling extra weight with that cord. Putting line in is a pain. I like that trimmer u used. Thank u.
I just used the same exact trimmer for first time today. #1 hate the safety switch. That will definitely need to be modified or removed. #2 I feel the same about the auto feed, seems like I always want longer line, not sure about that feature. Good power and seems well balanced
Just bought this trimmer for the $299 sale price. Came with a 4ah battery and a free 2.5ah battery. I already had some 5ah batteries so I went directly from the register to customer service and returned the 2.5ah battery for $112 credit. My buddy wanted a 4 or 5ah battery so I sold him the 4ah battery for $150. I’m tax exempt so I paid a total of $37 for this trimmer. Win.
@@davidgrisham7959 I did not know you can get a battery and weed eater combo and return just the battery for some credit? Is that what the guy said he did
My neighbor could not find the e / go in Maryland , Washington D.C. or VA. she said had to order hers by mail. I got to use hers. And now I am on the hunt for my own E / Co weedeater. I hope they have a hedge trimmer
They do, and it's a great unit. I like the swivel head feature on mine. If you're looking for multiple tools, look into Ego's Ph1420 Multi-tool head. I just got one with the weed eater attachment, and plan on getting the edger, and pole pruner. I'm considering the sweeper as a way to dethatch the lawn.
I picked up the 15 inch model. Past 5 years I've used the 80 volt kobalt. Loved it but the 6amp battery was getting heavy. This lighter ego is better so far
Nice video. Easy to follow. A bit annoying that we watch you driving to the store and walking inside the store at normal speed, but when it came to watching you use the machine it was filmed in high speed!! I would like to have heard what you would say about the extra weight these batteries put on the machine…particularly for us weaklings that don’t have your muscles. Admittedly, this machine has some wonderful features, Just want to make sure we can handle it with relative ease,
I run a 2001 322L and finally had to replace the purge bulb this year but I might have replaced fuel lines at one point and it probably could use a plug and maybe a air filter at some point but I can’t say how a electric trimmer will hold up to my needs but one day I might give it a shot
I recently bought at Lowes the EGO #ST15111 15-inch for $219 String Grass Trimmer just to see if it measured up to the great reviews before going all in later on a higher end muti-head model. It exceeded expectations. It's a keeper and an excellent go-to grass trimmer, and yes, I will later upgrade to a multi-head EGO trimmer and still keep this one. Not Sponsored. Bought and Use.
Love this weed eater and own the one just under it…cost was my factor but mine is awesome and my customers appreciate not having to hear my equipment when I’m there
I was able to find the carbon fiber combo kit with the interchangable trimmer and edger attachments. The discounted price was $364.00 new and with tax it pushed it up to around $390.00. It came with one 56V battery and charger. I would recommend this product from Ego as there are an array of additional attachments that can be used with this kit. A pole saw, hedge trimmer, and tiller are just a few of the attachments one can purchase separately should the need ever arise. I think in the long run one will be better served to buy the new system now offered by Ego in 2024 instead of having the individual power tool(s) that only perform one function each. Cheers.
@@AdventureGearTV it's a different tool. I have a standalone trimmer like yours but older (2019). I have 2 multi-tools. One has an edger and the other a pole saw. The pole saw is awesome btw.
Our Weeds in the high desert California grow like your trees and I made a mandrel to mount a 9 in Carbide wood blade to take down the thick weeds weeds.
JSYK, there's two different ways to get more time on that trimmer. I personally have the smaller trimmer but with an acre-plus yard, the 2.5Ah battery that came with it is too small AND I tend to use the same battery for my 750cfm blower. As such, and in having multiple different Ego hand-held tools, I tend to primarily use a 7.5Ah battery that came with my Ego hand mower, which allows me to even use a hand-held tiller for my flower gardens, hand-held snow thrower for my sidewalk and even a long-handled 10" chain saw for cutting back heavier brush. With also having an Ego Z6 42" Zero-turn mower, I can mow the entire acre-plus on SIX 10Ah batteries on one charge (with an approximate 4-hour recharge time IF you let the batteries cool down before recharging, but which also gives me easy access to those larger batteries if a heavy project comes up. I find the heavier batteries decidedly improve the balance of all of the hand tools to make them easier to handle, compared to the 4Ah and smaller ones.I've been using these tools AND the two-stage snow blower for three years now, though the snow blower saw no use in the first year of ownership. Additionally, 12Ah batteries are available, which would extend the mower's range to roughly 1.5 acres or more and probably a full day's work with any hand tool AND there's a backpack unit that can hold two batteries (any size) to power any hand tool. Not counting Ego's newest professional landscaper machines.
Love my ego trimmer and lawn mower gets the job done pretty efficiently and less of a hassle dealing with cord! Does need an extra battery but also have the tree trimmer so 3 devices should at least have 2 batteries
I have an EGO trimmer. The battery doesn’t even last half of the way around where I need to trim. I love the automatic line feed and the bump head. However I would need 3 batteries to cover my areas.
I have this trimmer and I love it, one thing I noticed you didn’t mention that I really like is the little attachment next to the battery compartment that allows you just to hang it on a screw against the wall. I love that feature.
Ive slowly transitioned to all ego stuff for my yard. Most definitely worth it. No oil( minus the chainsaw), no gas, no spark plugs. Maintenance still exists but most of the time its for consumables. Like most people think a battery dieing is a problem. But anything you see is a minority compared to the whole. And if your worried about it. Buy it new and registor the tool immediately. If your buying it used your taking a risk. So far my stuffs been rock solid. The only thing i keep around is my old gas mower. When i need to mow down a couple feet of weeds :) ( just kept around for the abuse).
Other than the click bait title, this was a really good review. I've been using the previous high end model with the carbon fiber handle and auto loading feature with 15" size. Mine came with a 2.5ah battery, not the 4ah and didn't have line IQ. I have to bump out the line. So far I've had no issues with that, except when the line was nearly empty. That was a big upgrade compared to the wired Black and Decker trimmer, which wouldn't feed correctly, even with a brand new head.
When I had my lawn service I used milwaukee trimmers. DOWN SIDE I kept buying batteries I was up to 17 of them wew . At $250 per battery that’s a lot . Bigger down side the batteries some of them did not even last a year . And no milwaukee did not honor the warranty . And at times I had to use my old gas trimmer’s because the batteries were all DEAD . Really sucks I’m just so glad I’m retired .
I'm a little concerned about the auto feed out on the line. I like taking the guard off so I can pounce more line out for a wider cutting swath like the landscapers do, but I don't know how that's going to work with the EGO and it's line length sensor ability.
I would've liked to see more detail or discussion on how the string feed works and how to load new string into the trimmer. My issue with ALL trimmers has been the string doesn't feed properly and I have to stop working. How has your experience been with reloading string in this trimmer?.
I’m in the Ryobi eco system & I have 4 40v batteries so I’m pretty invested- I can weed eat more than I want to on any given day.. I’ve had the Ryobi for about 3 years now & I actually blew it up a few days ago trying to weed eat a ditch line lol. I think I’ll have to stick with the Ryobi trimmers now: but atleast mine had a 5 yr warranty so I can send it in.
I bought the IQ trimmer 2 yrs ago. It was great. However there were 2 times that both the line feeding & release mechanism failed. It's still warranty. The shop just replace with a new head for me. I just wonder how can i do better to avoid the same problem later on when the warranty expires.
Great video. Hate to nitpick but the EGO tools are Battery operated tools rather than Electric tools. Electric tools are typically corded tools that you plug into an AC power outlet. Cheers.
"...see if they have it"?? Since it's a 40 minute drive, maybe you would want to call first? 😄 I just picked up an Ego trimmer too...but NOT the super expensive CF version. Personally, I much prefer the "bump feed" because I don't have much luck with the "auto feed" feature on the trimmer I'm replacing. I don't mind the tiny bit of effort to bump the trim head. I will use this for light weed/grass trimming on my side slope and for edging the lawn. Feels like I will need some practice for the edging.... My gas powered Husqvarna trimmer is a beast that eats through my foot tall weeds on the big slope. The electric would never get it done...
Had this head for a while and really wanted to love it . For me, the overall size of the head was too large, reducing the cutting path and overtime as the bump head wears down it becomes very difficult to wind new line into.
In terms of the length, how tall are you? I'm 6'3" and my gas trimmers make me stoop when trimming. I even attached something to the handle of the gas trimmer to try to get down to a level cutting surface, but my back still aches when all is said and done. Thanks.
My line IQ is not working. I was impressed with its power and it chewed through some thick weed stems, but that line iq just isn't there. I even added new line. Their brand of line even. Not just a generic or well established 3rd party brand. Mostly since buying the trimmer netted me free 5 pack of line for it. Which I think is 5 14ft bundles.
Is there a guide up front to keep from destroying tree trunks and fence posts? I don't see any models that have any good options for a good guide that stays in place.
I am snickering at the irony that you're talking about the best way to get rid of weeds and whatnot... and I'm looking behind you to identify the foraging potential in the background! XD I do appreciate the tutorial perspective on the assembly part of this video - I just got a new mic, and I was trying to put it together without the instructions because I get overwhelmed visually pretty quickly (but step-by-step instructions that I can pause don't overwhelm me lol). I know if I purchased the same trimmer, I'd be in good hands watching this video! :D
I was a gas user all my life. I went and bought that dame ego trimmer and the 615cfm blower. WOW!!! What a game changer. I absolutely love it. I think when I need to replace my gas mower I'm going electric😊
Hi, I didn’t measure the actual run time, but it’s more than enough to trim all of the area you saw in the video. I’m still using it a year later with no issues.
Exactly what I want to know. Time. How long did it run from full battery to blinking lite. Surely you must know on average how long it takes you to trim out your property?
Meaningless. It depends on the workload. A 5Ah battery could give you anywhere from 45 minutes to 120 minutes or more depending on the job. I can do a 750 sqm block three times over and still have about 50% battery charge left in a battery that is nearly 3 years old and has been used at least twice a month over that period. However, I am only trimming grass, using low speed setting, and rarely, if ever hitting hard surfaces or doing anything to stress the trimmer's motor. I also properly maintain the batteries.
I have one of the higher end EGO trimmers. It never worked properly. The spool wouldn't release new wire reliably, requiring loading it up to about half capacity. Finally the electric motor simply failed. I've switched over to a gas trimmer. So far so good.
When I tell u that EGO 16inch trimmer pretty heavy. I came from gas Echo SRM 225 and wow. Huge difference. Great trimmer….great line IQ. But too heavy. I’m in my 30s and my arms were tired.
Have the basic Ego trimmer but same wattage output. Ego chainsaw and blower. Ive got a 5A and 2.5A battery, 28K sq ft lot. I will NEVER buy another gas product for yard work. My batteries charge before im done using the next one.
With proper handling, EGO batteries can last 7 years of more. So talking about $25 per year. How much money do you spend on fuel, oil, plugs, and engine maintenance for a petrol powered tool over its lifetime?
electric is the way to go. i've got ryobi stuff and a small yard to take care of. usually i can do the weed eating and use the same battery in the mower and be all done on one 4ah battery. set up some solar panels, power station and charge the battery off that, eliminates even paying for the electricity to take care of the yard.
I’ve noticed after making this video that the batteries seem to be compatible for all of this EGO gear, so if someone picks up a few different tools they’ll have extra batteries which could go a long way for bigger jobs.
If I were to only buy one, I’d buy gas. If you have a small property go electric. However, that electric EGO is bulky and heavy…at least compared to my gas trimmer Echo SrM 225 I believe.
Buy the cheaper Ego, without the line feed. I just bought another ego this year, I paid 180 bucks with the auto wind. My old one you have to twist the head to wind, which is not easy but I manage to do it. I really don't like the new safety switch but I will get use to it. I bought the second one for the battery. Mine are both 2.5 amp batteries so I need both to do my yard, and then some. But I would not mind having a 4 amp battery. Maybe I'll buy a chainsaw or blower in the future.
I ended up buying a Milwaukee, but that was because I already have a bunch of batteries and a charger. Was I to buy a stand alone device? Who knows? They are pretty well comparable. Price against functionality. I’d be confident with either, and just buy the one on sale at the time. Other brands don’t really match up well.
I just bought the 15 inch. Bumping the unit on the ground failed to feed more line. Removing all of the line and reloading did nothing. I'm giving this a week before I take this back to Lowes for a refund.
Did you end up returning it? I just got mine today, and not sure that I like it. I'm also not used to so much power. I used a black and decker for the past 11 years, and that seemed to have been fine. Starting to wonder why I really wanted the upgrade anyway. haha
I got this last year and the battery is already taking about a half charge ( it’s dieing and a replacement is around a 100$ so to me this is a waste of money
Did you follow the plethora of available advice regarding how to use, charge, and store the battery to extend its life? With proper use, EGO batteries should last at least three years with weekly use. If your battery is taking half charge after 6 months, it was either faulty from the start, hasn't been properly maintained, or there is a problem with the battery charger rather than the battery. Cheers.
@ Im amused that your implying I’ve only had it 6 months obviously you didn’t read it . I said last year not 6 months sir so keep you’re snide remarks to yourself Cheers👎
Got sick and tired of my Stihl whacker and its annual disposable carburetor and sick of reloading string 3-4 times in my yard. Got the Ego and I'm not going back. Did the yard with string to spare, and not one restart needed!
I've used a wheeled weedwacker for almost 20 years. They are awesome. I just bought a Ryobi 40 volt hand weedwacker for tighter areas. It's pretty heavy but I will pace myself.(probably will never run out of battery 😄) I'm 73.
"Sme thing they dont tell you (?)" I was waiting for.. did I miss it? Let me also say if you have a new gas unit, they are near trouble free (no you don't have to mess with the Spark plug..etc)
Makes sense. My experience with gas powered weed eaters is dated, so I would need to change spark plugs just about every season. I can imagine things have gotten much better. Luckily, this electric one just works when I squeeze the trigger. The battery lasts just about as long as I need in the yard.
I would have to spend $500 more on my mower, $200 more on my trimmer, $250 more on my blower than my petrol setup AND $1200 more on batteries up front (not including recharging costs) to be able to take care of my 3/4 acre block. That's A LOT of extra up front cost. A commercial Honda mower and a commercial Stihl trimmer and blower work out to be much cheaper long-term and deliver better performance, especially the mower has a cleaner cut.
Your math ain't mathing for me. The Ego push mower runs $500-$800, similar to a Honda. The Ego trimmer costs about $180, similar to other major gas brands. The blower costs $300. They come with batteries, although you can buy them without batteries for less. On top of all that, there's almost no maintenance. These things will run for 10 years without much trouble. Yes, Ego is somewhat of a premium brand and you pay for that, but it can go toe to toe with gas powered brands. For me it's been worth it.
I purchased this trimmer because of your review. You made everything clear. Thank you!
I live in South Texas I like to do my lawn work early in the morning or late in the afternoon even at night. Electric is a lot quieter. I would never consider frying up a gas string trimmer 7 on a Sunday morning
You’re considerate of others. Which is more than can be said of most people.
@@JPS1000 good point.
Nice video! I just bought the same model. Still $299 at Lowe’s and they gave me a free 5-pack of string. You asked whether gas or electric is a better value. To which I say “it depends”

Since I got my ST1620T 16" String Trimmer I haven't touched a gas trimmer. This is the best!
I thought the shaft length was adjustable??
I got the same model. How long does it typically last on low setting? I haven't used mine yet.
@@keen4300 just don’t leave it on the charger take it off right after hitting 100%
Don't forget when ising a large line spool to first measure the amount of line you want and even cut before feeding the line.
I love the battery trimmer.
I’m happy to see these replies. I thought the same about the string and got irritated. I’ve got other string around and will be switching it out.
It doesn’t edge as well as a gas trimmer still satisfied
Thank you
Florida Saint Augustine grass home owner here.
I’m about to use it this weekend after sitting all winter. I’m curious how the battery held up.
I have this same trimmer. Works great for me. I also have the Ego Edger and the Ego Zero Turn Mower. All work great. Love the no maintenance.
Win.
I thought a 2.5 amp battery brand new at Lowe’s retails for either $149 or $179. Why did you only get $112?
@@davidgrisham7959
I did not know you can get a battery and weed eater combo and return just the battery for some credit? Is that what the guy said he did
What kind of buddy is this?! I know I'd give one of my buddies it for free! You're not going to use it!
Damn I spent 179.00...191.00 out the door

Where at bro ?
My neighbor could not find the e / go in Maryland , Washington D.C. or VA. she said had to order hers by mail. I got to use hers. And now I am on the hunt for my own E / Co weedeater. I hope they have a hedge trimmer
They do, and it's a great unit. I like the swivel head feature on mine. If you're looking for multiple tools, look into Ego's Ph1420 Multi-tool head. I just got one with the weed eater attachment, and plan on getting the edger, and pole pruner. I'm considering the sweeper as a way to dethatch the lawn.
I got a power head with the hedge trimmer attachment and pole saw 5 years ago. It's amazing.
Cheers.
It sounds like the 2024 system is modular and likely much more useful. I’ll check it out.
That sounds like a powerful solution. I spent some time in California, and understand the potential issues out there.
I wish I hadn't seen your video! It makes me realize that my EGO carbon fiber weed eater is yesterday's news! Now I want the one in this video 😂
I have an EGO trimmer. The battery doesn’t even last half of the way around where I need to trim. I love the automatic line feed and the bump head. However I would need 3 batteries to cover my areas.
@@trudycalvert7029 right! I'm not impressed with these batteries at all for my first use
@@trudycalvert7029how long would you say your battery would last in minutes
Good honest review. Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.
Power head with trimmer attachment seems better than this for someone who likes longer string. Multi head attachment can handle longer line as well.
I have the 5" EGO trimmer, got tired of the gas trimmer maintenance. Have 2 batteries, never going back!!
Instead of throwing plastic bits all over the yard, can you attach a metal (biodegradable) blade on that thing?
Sounds like a dang battery nightmare. I wonder if these newer batteries will last longer.
Cheers.
@@karmicselling4252 interesting distinction. I hadn’t thought of it that way, but your perspective is correct.
Thanks.
I have 2 of them and love them both.
Just used the t for the first time of the season today. No issues at all.
Thanks for the instructions. I followed along with you and put it together. Now off to do some weed eating!
Can you swap out the string spool for a chainsaw blade? I put one on my dewalt and it worked like a damn, but burnt out the trimmer.
Is there a guide up front to keep from destroying tree trunks and fence posts? I don't see any models that have any good options for a good guide that stays in place.
The ads say it only weighs 7.67 pounds. Does that include the battery? That's really light compared to other brands.
Can this model take different attachments
I have owned my st1620t for 2yrs have not used it much but i need areplacement head because it will not respool the line
How long did it take to run the battery completely charged to almost dead?
Nice video. I thought my Stiga 48v batteries were huge, but this 56v battery is massive. Way too large for my taste. Thanks for the honest review.
it would have been nice if you showed us the loading of the spline
How to replace the motor on an Ego st1520s?
subscribed.. be watching for a long term review. Thank You.
Can I change out the head to aeroflex?
I am snickering at the irony that you're talking about the best way to get rid of weeds and whatnot... and I'm looking behind you to identify the foraging potential in the background! XD
I do appreciate the tutorial perspective on the assembly part of this video - I just got a new mic, and I was trying to put it together without the instructions because I get overwhelmed visually pretty quickly (but step-by-step instructions that I can pause don't overwhelm me lol). I know if I purchased the same trimmer, I'd be in good hands watching this video! :D
Plenty of potential out here in the summer months. Things grow all summer long.
I was a gas user all my life. I went and bought that dame ego trimmer and the 615cfm blower. WOW!!! What a game changer. I absolutely love it. I think when I need to replace my gas mower I'm going electric😊
How much actual time did you get using the trimmer, 45 minutes, an hour?
Awesome Trimmer !!!
How long did it take you to weedeat your yard? One charge lasted you how long?
Mine lasts about 10-11 minutes, maybe!! It's SO frustrating!
Based on what he showed, it looked like 10 or 15 minutes of trimming.
I have one and I get.two to three three hours depending on if I'm using it on high or low speed.
The prices went up but it's still a good machine the one I bought was $295 and it only came with the tool😢
And it also did not come with a battery
A new battery costs $179 before tax at Lowe's. This is a hidden cost that could really mount up.
They are not cheap, but I have been running mine for 7+ years with no noticeable degradation or issues.
It comes with a battery, so it is not a hidden cost
With proper handling, EGO batteries can last 7 years of more. So talking about $25 per year. How much money do you spend on fuel, oil, plugs, and engine maintenance for a petrol powered tool over its lifetime?
Nice weed eater sir. Even nicer sunglasses. Ya mind telling me what they are? Thanks
electric is the way to go. i've got ryobi stuff and a small yard to take care of. usually i can do the weed eating and use the same battery in the mower and be all done on one 4ah battery. set up some solar panels, power station and charge the battery off that, eliminates even paying for the electricity to take care of the yard.
I’ve noticed after making this video that the batteries seem to be compatible for all of this EGO gear, so if someone picks up a few different tools they’ll have extra batteries which could go a long way for bigger jobs.
Music walking through the hardware store is a little over the top. LOL. Thanks for the review.
What a dumb comment.
That safety switch is annoying to me as well. I checked mine and it’s a 4 Ah battery. Lasts a decent while.
love your argument on spark plug limited life time lol your battery not limited life time ?
I ended up buying a Milwaukee, but that was because I already have a bunch of batteries and a charger.
Was I to buy a stand alone device? Who knows? They are pretty well comparable. Price against functionality.
I’d be confident with either, and just buy the one on sale at the time.
Other brands don’t really match up well.
I think you made a good buy for your use.
Starting to wonder why I really wanted the upgrade anyway. haha
The biggest factor for me was that the EGO doesn’t emit greenhouse gases. Two-stroke engines are among the worst polluters.
Keep drinking the cool aid 😂
The music itself made it a good video.
Nothing but thumbs up.
For trimming battery is fine. Brush cutter not so much. Also battery trimmers are heavy and they should include a strap IMHO.
my stihl fs38 has had the same sparkplug for over 6 years now and no issues
@stackingdimes6939 he was only trying to be helpful. 😢
Great review - although, I don't understand why sparkplugs would be an issue for gas trimmers. They last a very long time.
They also don't tell you that their cheap plastic tools fall apart quickly and its warranty is a scam.
Got sick and tired of my Stihl whacker and its annual disposable carburetor and sick of reloading string 3-4 times in my yard.
Got the Ego and I'm not going back. Did the yard with string to spare, and not one restart needed!
Instead of music, we’d rather hear how quiet or loud it is.
Dewalt trimmer is stronger than ego do a review dewalt vs ego
I like the battery one vs the gas one but we just got 10 acres raw so I'm thinking I need to get one of those push weed wackers! 🤪🤣
I've used a wheeled weedwacker for almost 20 years. They are awesome. I just bought a Ryobi 40 volt hand weedwacker for tighter areas. It's pretty heavy but I will pace myself.(probably will never run out of battery 😄) I'm 73.
Might need a full riding mower for that size job.
nice video
Spark plugs, oil, petrol (gasoline to you guys!), noise, unhealthy fumes, cold starts. No thanks.
I bought a ego weedeater, 2 yrs later I’m back to gas
Love my ego Wacker
