This era of Range Rover is the best, most evocative shape for me. I love this idea and the work that has been done. It looks beautiful as is, but I’ll be ordering mine in a lovely dark blue colour. I’ll have the same wheels - they are iconic and very, very cool 👌🏻
Fantastic example of a mullet hybrid (business for the front, party for the back) that more cars could benefit from. That RR is cool AF. What an epic idea to bring a classic RR, in to the future! And run by people with so much passion and excitement! That will sell the cars ten fold. Great video TLBS.
Absolutely amazing build. Making the EV and petrol part work together flawlessly seems to be an almost impossible task for a small company 👍 The lack of media training has already been mentioned, but this is why we are here, and not watching an overproduced tv show 👍😀
Such an imaginative re-invention of an iconic workhorse/living room on wheels. I'm especially impressed by the independent suspension setup, and the retention of the oodles of boot space which defined the Range Rover to begin with. I can easily imagine this car cruising along the Golden Gate Bridge, or Venice Beach quite happily, with family, dogs, and picnics in tow.
What a fantastic thing. im not usually keen on electrifying classics but making it a hybrid in this way is perfect imo. Durran's presenting also doesnt offend me in the slightest. it's nice for him to try and address the room rather than just Johnny. I think what alot people fail to realise is the guy isn't a seasoned tv presenter so it might not come natural.
Its fundamentally, a UK made Singer Range Rover... Well done to all the team involved for recreating such a lovely looking, versatile, understated, classic British icon.
This is fabulous, really top notch. I would love to do something like this to an L322. Had an S/C 4.2 RR but with a seriously stonking LT1/LS and the PHEV what could be better. The suspension and steering mods are great too. Well done for doing all that work.
What an awesome thing, would love one of those. Only thing that looks slightly off is the ride height, I'd rather a bit more space between tyres and arches. I thought both the guys you spoke to were great Jonny.
That is deeply impressive. I was originally turned off by the slightly 90s-look dodgy fibreglass body kit. But when they had it up on the ramp and I saw what they'd done to the suspension and drivetrain, he had me! Although I'm pretty sure there's only one place to get it serviced!
Another fantastic episode. Thank the lord there are people in the world like Durran, his company and the client who are engineering solutions to create cars like this. Who cares about the talking to camera. Its a phenomenal build, and thank you jonny for bringing this car into my world. The want is strong.
This is still the best looking Range Rover, had an SE back in the early 90s, a flawed and brilliant vehicle all in one. The engineering that has gone into this is outstanding, any potential owner will immediately see where their money has been spent. The attention to detail and quality of finish far surpasses that of the original, i'd take that over the current Range Rover without question........if money was no object. Great video Jonny
I agree but I think the 2012 RR Autobiography last year made, hands down has to be the best in terms of keeping the DNA alive. I own one myself, a low mileage example, Fuji white/Tan, and it’s just delicious. The lines are perfect with a blend of Modern tech.
Would love to own a Ultimate Edition version in which they only produced 50 of them for North America. 500 worldwide. A unicorn With captain seats and teak wood all around.
The hours and effort come across clearly - Durran is obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about his product, and the end result looks stunning. Bit nerdy maybe, but I'd be interested to know, given that the car is destined for the USA, what plans there are for maintenance of the system and support, should it need repair. More great content and fascinating vehicles Jonny; where do you find them all 🤩😍
I remember sitting in the very first 4 door RRs at the Yorkshire show around 81/82,they were an object of desire back then, looks like they still are in a slightly more modern form.
Fantastic video and a really interesting project. I think the hybrid drive gives the best of both worlds. Electric power for town and city use, then an ICE for longer journeys. Ignore the comments about the presentation style, I thought Duran did really well. Having been filmed a few times at work, I know how hard it is!!
Not a huge fan of hybrids but you can see how this would work. More impressive is the attention to detail on this build and a lovely reminder of how fresh and impressive the original styling was...
This is why l love this channel. Jonny gets us into a world we couldn't access otherwise . This car is so wrong but it's also so right . Yes , it's heavy and yes it's expensive. Sure, they could have just put more batteries in and done away with the petrol engine. But that's already been done. Someone has gone to the trouble of doing all this work at great expense to develop a technology that will ultimately benefit all of us. Especially in the restomod game. Using different types of motors. Having front wheel drive only etc. Awesome stuff. And the packaging is fantastic. A million likes from me.
Looks like an awesome car but one thing I will say is that the Alpine screen looks like a complete afterthought and also it doesn't look very well integrated into the dash or very well fitted. Especially for a car that is £250k plus.
Also I'm sure I'm being very picky but again for a car that cost £250k plus I'd want it fitted with Michelin tyres or something of the same quality. I don't think I'd be happy with Falkens fitted for the price.
So this is where the Range Rover from Edds channel went... 😅 Beautifully presented episode Jonny! Love a restomod of any car, as long as it has done justice to the car ❤
Thats a gorgeous thing, no doubt it was very expensive, but unlike some bespoke things that seem expensive because they have a brand name on them you can see where the money has gone in this. Its an absolutely brilliant idea.
that interior is immaculate. ideal juxtaposition of contemporary tech with vintage craftsmanship. I do reckon i'd swap out the steering wheel. I dislike wheels with too many buttons, but something simplistic but modern with an airbag would do. maybe a wheel off a P38 RR.
Love this guy's knowledge, passion and attention to detail. Yes it is unfortunate that he looked at the camera in the first section but it must be pretty nerve wrecking to be on camera with UA-cam roylaty like Jonny Smith. This is would definitely be in my dream 3 car garage
Fair play to him. I did come here to mention the camera facing, but after reading comments, I know think he did a really good job of providing the details of the builds, and his pride in the project is appropriate.
Jonny why don’t you ever promote Smith and Sniff podcast on here, I mean Richard does for the channel on the podcast. I love it all and will be seeing you both in Bicester 👍
I’m a fan overall. I daily drive a classic Range Rover and I’ve considered all sorts of drivetrain swaps. I’d definitely opt for the exterior to be more like the earlier hard dash cars but that interior is excellent
I had forgotten how good tho old Range Rover looked. I'm off to search for some more modded one's... after I've finished watching this Jonny of course...
Having read all the comments I feel for the chap, he might have talked to the camera and not to Johnny but he comes over enthusiastic about the car and his product, and to be honest I thought Johnny got on with it under the bonnet of the RR. I really like the look of this Range Rover the 3 spokes are like Saab or Advans, my only thing i would change is the touch screen it looks like a afterthought so i would want it to be intergrated into the dash of the car but if i won the lottery i would have one.
I remember when the very first Range Rover appeared and instantly fell in love with it although it was way, way beyond my budget. However years later I bought a two door J Reg model and all the family loved it. A few years later I took early retirement and by doing so I had a little cash available and passed by a second hand car dealers property and there on the forecourt was a 1984 4 door model. It was the best vehicle that I've ever owned and at that time the most expensive that I'd ever bought - £3800! We kept it for 9 years by which time the dreaded tin worm had eaten into it and it had to scrapped - a very sad day! The P38 and the L322, in my opinion never quite captured the good looks of the original although I did own an L322 for a while; I could only afford to run it since it had an LPG conversion. Given the option I'd still prefer a Classic!!
THIS is the Range Rover the company should have built! Looks, performance, and reliability. Innovation often is led by small companies backed by visionary capital.

Actually, this chap is conducting the interview in the old school manner! You always spoke to the camera not the interviewer!
Absolutely admire this guys enthusiasm and knowledge of the vehicle rather than being a silent pen pusher and finger pointer like quite a lot of bosses are nowadays.
Would love to see what else they have to show 👌
And to add its beautifully finished inside and out, Gives me huge hope for the future of classic cars at least.
Two of my favourite cars
That RR is cool AF. What an epic idea to bring a classic RR, in to the future! And run by people with so much passion and excitement! That will sell the cars ten fold. Great video TLBS.
Absolutely amazing build. Making the EV and petrol part work together flawlessly seems to be an almost impossible task for a small company 👍
The lack of media training has already been mentioned, but this is why we are here, and not watching an overproduced tv show 👍😀
Fantastic to see these old cars given a new zest of life.
V8 and leccy motor is a classic. Cracking idea 👍
Brilliant video on a brilliant bit of British engineering. Really enjoyable. Thanks!
If I was in the market for a new RR then chieftain would get the order. And this is much down to this guys enthusiasm and knowledge.
This era Range Rover has aged so well, the way it sits on the road is so good!
It's sitting painfully low, though.
This is fabulous, really top notch. I would love to do something like this to an L322. Had an S/C 4.2 RR but with a seriously stonking LT1/LS and the PHEV what could be better. The suspension and steering mods are great too. Well done for doing all that work.
Good video, and couldn't care less which way he's taking, the important bit is its interesting and he knows his stuff
This is absolutely beautiful, this in the end would be incredible. 420 horse normal with super charger 620 horse wow. Love it
This looks fantastic and the attention to detail is really respectful to the original range rover design! ❤
Great video and an even greater product. What a beautiful creation that stays true to the original style and aesthetic of the RR Classic.
Great video was always JS. What a stunning vehicle too, phenomenal work from the lads at Jensen. I won't comment on the obvious other than to say LOL
Cracking looking car, and it's nice to see someone who is passionate about things, and he seems extremely confident to me.
More great content and fascinating vehicles Jonny; where do you find them all 🤩😍
Would love one of these.
That’s my dream car - love the combination of old and new 👌🏻
I don’t normally like that shape of Range Rover but if I had the spare cash I would consider it. Best one I have ever seen.
I like the way he talks to the camera.
Like chatting to a knowledgeable mate over a pint.
And why shouldn't he push his product?
What an awesome project, and a great idea! Helps when it's excellently executed too, amazing!
I always worry about ongoing maintenance and spare part availability in longer term. But great to such engineering work going on here in the UK
Perfect video to start my Father's Day with. Thanks Jonny and team!
Absolute pleasure!
Very nicely build restomod. Maybe the stance is a bit off but I realy liked the video.
It seems we have returned to a model of coach building and engineering.
I think we may be the better for it.
Top tunes again, Johnny.
Love it Johnny, "lets get it on a ramp"
So this is where the Range Rover from Edds channel went... 😅
Beautifully presented episode Jonny! Love a restomod of any car, as long as it has done justice to the car ❤
My late father had one of the original range rovers in red back in the 80s. I’d so love to own one of these in the same colour. Glad I watched this
Thats a gorgeous thing, no doubt it was very expensive, but unlike some bespoke things that seem expensive because they have a brand name on them you can see where the money has gone in this.
Its an absolutely brilliant idea.
Very polished job they done good great restored Johny
I agree taking an older sports car or SUV or truck is way cooler than buying brand new.
Awesome thing, great chieftain o’ the puddin-race. It's a bit low at the back.
Love the SAAB patern wheels
Jonny always hooks me into watching about a vehicle I have very little interest in! 😂 Such an interesting video and a great bit of engineering.
Possibly the best Range Rover ever made? The classic is named so for a reason and improved beyond all doubt. (And I loved video)
Magnificent, an artistic and technological joy to behold.
that interior is immaculate. ideal juxtaposition of contemporary tech with vintage craftsmanship.
Exactly the same! Kinda weird and off-putting, but he was a genuine guy who I just don't think got into the whole visual literacy of the thing.
Jonny why don’t you ever promote Smith and Sniff podcast on here, I mean Richard does for the channel on the podcast. I love it all and will be seeing you both in Bicester 👍
Honestly? Because I'm a total flesh piccolo and always forget.
I’m a fan overall. I daily drive a classic Range Rover and I’ve considered all sorts of drivetrain swaps. I’d definitely opt for the exterior to be more like the earlier hard dash cars but that interior is excellent
Some excellent engineering and beautiful craftsmanship in this project. I hope this company goes from strength to strength. Yes I do like the wheels 😅
Elegant, Flawless, Perfect.
THIS is the Range Rover the company should have built! Looks, performance, and reliability. Innovation often is led by small companies backed by visionary capital.
Very impressive build, quality engineering and craftmanship. I hate to think how much it cost him but looks like he got a fine automobile.
Lovely motor and great (easy to clean) wheels.
Quite literally "Top of the range" I can't imagine the amount of work that went into the design of this project, stunning car !
Not as much as the original which is not independent suspension etc for good reason 🤔
