Tim Rose stated on the Jools Holland show: "The basic core of it ..." Hey Joe I shot your woman down" I heard I heard from this guy in Forida when I was about 3 years old... Chas Chandler heard it at a discotheque... they put the record on in the rehearsal studio and just copied the version and the rest is history for Jimi"

I used to see Tim Rose do Hey Joe at The Bitter End and Jimi Hendrix was well aware of his performances.
He played his red Guild Starfire. It was pretty exciting for a 15-year-old

No jimi needed, Tim Rise and many others covered this song before Jimi.
Even the radio am version we all heard by whoever it was was a cover. You check history of it who originated the song......just bugs me when Jimis name is used just to get attention, mostly undeserved.

Had a dream one night, was at a party and jimi boy walked in, started playing guitar and captivated everyone (especially the ladies) then he looked at me and said " listen carefully old son," (i think in london english) "i'm going to give you a song that will make you millions" then went on to play a gorgeous song and i watched his hands and could play every note easily, then thought " oh no this is just a dream, in the morning i will still be the same mug i always was."
Sure enough next morning remembered the dream but not a note of the song.
