Cheers!
This is the drum sound ive been looking for my own music. Thanks so much!!!!!!
Finally! Thank you for this tutorial! I like the snare sound it's so tight!
I was one (of many) who asked for this video - thanks a lot, this is an awesome drum production tutorial
Glad you like it! This really was for the people who requested it!
That riff was awesome ..
Sounds brilliant, nice work and thanks for the tutorial John 👍
Love this drum sound! Great video!
Awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing.
thanks man I was struggling how to mix with SSD5 and VMR so this was perfect, the blending you do is very cool, the depth you go into is tremendous, I wondered how long it took you to figure this out!
Amazing tutorial! Thank you
Great tutorial man, thanks for sharing!
Great video man. Perfection 👌🏽
thank you this sound is what I was looking for !!!!
Sounds killer man!
Sweet dude. I just started checking out the Slate stuff. Totally blew away my other drum instruments
Killer Guitar tone!
those toms sound bad ass! i dont have near as many plugins as you but that is exactly the sound i want!!
Don't get sold on plugins man. You have everything you need in Cubase. It's all about Saturation, Compression and EQ.
I really like your videos! You have a great knowledge in sound processing and tone shaping! just a couple of questions: how seriously\professionally it's your Room acoustically treated?, and then ..wich are the specs of your PC? it seems to handle good all the Slate plugs, but actually I don't know how much CPU angry they are..thanks! :)
Hi Jon, thank you very much for the nice tutorial! I found you are using Slate Digital plugins a lot. I am wondering how much do you think the effects of Slate Digital plugins are better than the Cubase stock plugins? I guess you can achieve the same quality of your music by using only Cubase stock plugins. Have you ever tried to make such comparison before? Thanks a lot!
Lol, you played the song and it didn't hit me it was SSD5 drums, sounds so good. Guitars scream good too.
Hey Jon! Remember my comment on your video from yesterday? Thank you for responding! Now I can watch this one
care to share the cubase template sir ?? love the sound, i am definitely subscribing you !! love this channel
Hey John. Have you ever considered doing recording tutorials based on your setup and process. Something I would pay for!!
Damn ---those guitars !! Is that a real amp miced up or digital ? Thanks
I'm having trouble figuring out how to adjust hi hat pedal sensitivity. For instance I can't get my hi hat pedal volume to change when using my e drum kit.
I need this guitar tone now! What are you using?
Question: Why are you not using the Cubase's pre high and low pass filters?
How to make the each drum kits separate tracks in cubase..?
buenas noches amigo. como hago para colocar SSD 5.5 en NUENDO 4?
That guitar tone is amazing! How did you achieve that??
Definitely an awesome guitar tone!
How do you get so many room channels? I seem to have an issue where on the drums that I make, I only get 2 rooms, a normal room, and then SLR where i only hear the snare.
I need some help here, cubase 6 won’t read the ssd5.5 demo on my mac...
On striking my alesis crash, it sounds like the SSD splash and not the crash on the reaper DAW.Any help would be appreciated. 👍
Awsome, thank you!! (a vid about getting a great bass tone from a VST would be highly appreciated :) )
Already have a couple of those on the channel
@@SonicDriveStudio Yes, sorry, wrote that before searching your channel! Thanks for your content!!
Thanks for this Jon! Helped me out a lot. For hard rock or metal do you generally program your kick and snare hits at max velocity?
Generally, yes. Unless writing ghost notes
This is how to grow the channel Jon --if that's what you want from it. Thanks!
Thanks! I can smell the 10k subs haha
@@SonicDriveStudio lol. You are good for 100K+, easy. Same class and skill as Rebea, Fluff etc. Now, what's is going to take to do a rock vocal lesson? $5? :P Free those pipes. Or Mastering session please. Love your sound.
do you have reverb in your toms? please reply thank you
hi is it possible to add snare rim clicks ins ssd5.5?
I'm a fan of SSD4 & 5 including the expansion packs... but I don't see a tutorial on how to do cymbal swells in SSD5 &4. How is this done? Cheers
x 2
Nice, thanks! What guitar amp or simulation you used?
ENGL Ironball
@@SonicDriveStudio Thanks John!
Where can I get these mixing software you use
How do you separate each drums piece into its own separate channel to be able to mix
Slate SSD5 Multi-Track Out ua-cam.com/video/eJp9MwYqvrk/v-deo.html&ab_channel=HomeRecordingMadeEasy
Great video dude, but im stuck trying to get all my separate tracks (kick, snare etc!) routed to different instrument tracks like you have here! I cant figure it out !
I'm trying to figure out how to get all individual drum hits so I can send a song to the mix/master guy. Just got SSD5 working yesterday
Yo bobby! Which daw do you use? The answer is a little different depending on the DAW but if you use Studio One or Pro Tools I can help you out.
@@NearlyYork Hey man, could you help me out? I've been having an issue where MIDI is not playing the respective ssd instruments I've chose. It gets sound in the SSD Mixer but doesn't go through to the track I'm listening to in Pro Tools. I don't get it!
💝
How are you making that Stereo out channel? I'm using reaper trying to achieve the same sound with both Slate Digital Mix rack and drums
And what about the mastering?
I think that cymbals and hihat better in the 4th version, or it's just me?
Can I please Have this Template Please????????? I just bought SSD5 and i'm struggling a bit to build those kind of Drums. Fortunately enough I use CUBASE 12Pro and own all the plugins you used in this template. Please please🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Where did you get all the extra drum sounds and kits? I only have 3 kits to choose from 😬
Sounds like you have the free version
cool video... what are the velocities in the midi track?
Most of them pretty much on 127, not all though of course.
@@SonicDriveStudio Thanks!!!! it would be great if you could share the cubase project...without the rest of the intstuments of course!! only the drums and the processing you show in this video!!!
To me the drums sound better without compression. With the compression, it sounds like the volume is slightly fluctuating in an unnatural way and the sound is too saturated (for lack of a better term). Is it really necessary to add compression?
none of it is necessary it’s all personal preference
@@csmolen yet every producer does it.
@@johnp82 and if you think it sounds better, then don't. period. its not that hard to grasp
@@csmolen I get I can do whatever I want, it's a free country. BUT, knowing that the greatest producers and engineers in rock/metal choose to do it, I'd like to know why. It's not a difficult concept.
Is the ssd5 a plugin or a separate software?
It's a vst plugin.
Are there ways to get that drum sound without all of that processing.?
It's literally going through almost a dozen tools. Simple is better.
I did the exact settings, and it sounds nothing like it
That guitar tone…. How? Tells us ! :P
So far I tracked down engl iron ball, but the rest of the signal chain? Post mix chain? :P unveil the secrets.
So what? Why use SSD5?
Revisiting for obvious reasons.
This sampler is very low master volume
Does anyone else find that searching for grooves is absolutely TERRIBLE. Time consuming, no organization at all, no ability to label, save, search, modify anything. You can't even tag favorite loops. If anyone has ideas of how they navigate that ancient interface, do speak up.
