This is a fantastic plug in! I use it in Reaper with my old Yamaha DTX, works great and is pretty responsive to dynamics. you can really fine tune the sound using the mics and envelopes too.

I'm having mad issues when recording my electric dtx Yamaha drums with the slate , it is way too quiet when I'm recording, 😭 I even went through the slate drums mixer and turned every mic up, I feel like I've tried everything I could think of.. anyone have an idea as to what I can do ? They're extremely quiet.. somebody please help! 😢
I loved this on my Windows laptop, but it doesn't work on my M1 Mac. Word from Steven Slate is they won't have a fix until later this year. I guess I'll have to stick with MT Power Drums 2 until then.
@@REAPERMania Consider my jaw dropped. When I try to run it, the plugin acts like it's opening but just sits at a blank white screen. I reinstalled 3 times and got nothing. Then I found this on the Steven Slate site: slatedigital.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360060388814-Apple-ARM-Support-M1-Processors- I figured I'd just have to wait it out.
@REAPER Mania Looks like I just needed to uninstall and reinstall _correctly_ . Apparently, the SS Audio Center's reinstall doesn't do the trick. I had to look up uninstall instructions, but once I did that, restarted, and *then* reinstalled, it all seems to work again.

I'm researching plugins and other computer recording info. I chose Reaper as my DAW, and subscribed because your tutorials are detailed, so here I am. MT Power Drum Kit is where I was heading, but this kit sounds good, and has a wide variety of sounds and programmable options. I'm not looking for "grooves", but want to program my drums. One thing I haven't seen specifically mentioned is hi-hat "chick", where a drummer only taps the hat with his foot. Have you come across that hi-hat option, besides open or closed? I'm just starting with computer recording even though I'm old and retired from the music biz. I'm not going to download a thousand plugins to then search through when I'm looking for a specific sound for a purpose. I want an organic sounding drum kit to select from, and would rather not load a bunch of drum plugins just to delete them after I find that they don't offer the things I'm looking for. I want specific coloring for every instrument, and a drummer chicking is something I want for some things. I played bass for a living for decades, and recognize drums all too well. A drummer playing rhythm on toms sometimes chicks time on hi-hat. It's a specific thing which I haven't seen as an option on reviews thus far. Your reply will be appreciated.

Super bummed...I get to about 1:42, but the VST's / Slate drum samples never appear; in that subfolder or anywhere in the tree...any idea what im doing wrong other than sucking?
This is a great tutorial. SSD 5.5 is a really good plug-in too, even though it's free. It's sounds great and it's well worth using for most projects, unless you're at pro level doing film scores etc.

You can use Reaper's midi editor. You don't need an external midi keyboard. It's helpful if you have one, but you can use your computer keyboard, or draw the drum parts in the midi editor using your mouse.
My reaper could not find the steven slate dll, I installed and reinstalled it a couple times without succes. The dll was in the vst map but reaper cuoldn't find it :(
Same here, did you find any solution? I even re scan but it only showed in the "failed to scan plugins". Tried It in all my vst folders but nothing changed

I thought was the purpose ? to me as a drummer I surely would only want to record my own drum projects and not add somebody else's drum projects to record is there another reason why there would be pre-made drum loops? Wasted an hour on the install. Have more than enough drums and percussion but thought I'd give it a try to follow the video. After signing up for an account, do the install, open up reaper (and than updating reaper to 6.27) The SSD UI inside Reaper says it can't find the instruments. Went to the folder path specified, not there. No clue where SSD put the instruments, and after an hour wasted on the subject uninstalled SSD. Think I'll run Norton now.
I had the same issues..got to the stage were is was unpacking (Unzipping)the library got to 100%...then nothing.just as if it froze..closed the page ....opened reaper then when I went to open the instrument got an error "Can't locate the Library folder......I went back to SSD PAGE and went through the whole process again...I worked second time round
Thanks Kenny for your great Video. When I open this plug in in Reaper I see the drum set but there are no "Kit Present" as you have with"Deluxe2" and so on. What could be the problem here?

enjoy your videos, I downloaded this Steven slate free version I have a question my e drum kit is the Alesis Nitro mess kit I'm running Windows 10 using Reaper as my software, everything is working fine through the software I just have one issue in the Steven slate drum set you see on the computer screen the small symbol just above the high hat is coming out as a splash symbol I do not like the sound trying to change it to a crash symbol I've tried the mapping with no success just shows a message you want to cancel mapping I can't do anything unless I close it. So I'm not sure how to change this symbol sound when I hit my crash symbol on my kit it gives the sound of a splash so I just want to change that to a crash what is the easiest way to do that thanks hope you can give me some suggestions keep up the good work.

SSD library is in the same plugin folder as those that do appear. I don't get this. There's no dll file. How do I get Reaper to "see" SSD in the first place? Thanks in advance.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the respective merits of this VI vs. the Power Drums one. Is it mostly just about different sounds and grooves? Or are there other differences worth noting?
Reaper is not finding the plugin where I sent the downloaded content to in the specified folder. I've tried rescanning for plugins, installing the plugin manually through preferences. I've put the plugin file in other folders, to my desktop, and Reaper still cannot find or open it up with my VST's or VSTi's. I'm on a 64 bit Windows 10 system, and have the ASIO 4 All driver installed. Other drum plugins I've downloaded work just fine. Any help would be appreciated.
@@brianmaxfield8569 I emailed them and they had a rep connect to my computer with Team Viewer app remotely to install the plugin. The SSD rep was able to do install and open up the plugin successfully. I think opening Reaper up as an Admin, installing the plugins to your program files in the VstPlugin folder, or regular program files folder should do the trick. Some plugins or effects come with the installers so you'll have to install them and the instruments or samples they come with after unzipping so they can be recognized by your daw when you scan for them.
@kenny: i got the drum vst vprom. it asks me if i want routing. If i press yes, it creates the routing but not all drums are hearable. you know what might be wrong?
amplesound free precision bass is awesome! its free acoustic guitar is terrific, too. (you can "electrify" it with amps and fx, but it's no proper electric g. no good free electric guitar, though.
did the install, Reaper didn't pick up the installation on Windows 10 :( Actually, took a reinstall to work. It's memory hungry, but nice though. Next post, using vst's for guitar please :)

You should do a video sequencing the drum parts with a midi item! I point and click each hit to write out my own drum lines and fills.

On striking my alesis crash, it sounds like the SSD splash and not the crash on the reaper DAW.Any help would be appreciated. 👍
