Awesome video, can you provide any info on how you made the actual light up portion, just curious as to what and how you used to make the black / white lettering.
Thank you for sharing and congrats on your new. I am still debating how am I going to make my own but you have given me inspiration to try it out one of these days.
This is seriously amazing. I am so happy I stumbled on this video as it gave me much inspiration. I am planning out a double sided LED display sign build for my storefront sign, to protrude from the building so the sign can be read from both directions. Do you foresee any issues with having this double sided? Also, would you recommend any particular additions if making this sign "outdoor friendly"? Thanks!
Sorry for my late response man and thank you. For a double sided sign, I see no issues. You may need to put more led stripes so the light will be enough for both sides. For an outside use you may use waterproof material such aluminum or steel because wood or MDF will not last long.
@@BillSinWorkshop I ended up getting 2 dual output, waterproof LED strips (1 neutral white and 1 RGB to be able to change the colors for holidays). Going to use a silicone caulk to seal the cracks. For added frost, I also bought some adhesive window frost to apply to the interior. When the frosted acrylic gets wet, it becomes more translucent making the LED bulbs appear behind the acrylic. This added frost will eliminate this from happening when it rains. Thanks for all of the inspiration for this project. Cheers.
I currently have an old sign box and looking to create a new sign face and I think this would work for me. What kind of plastic did you use? Also, was that laminate you added at the end for some protection?
I used clear plexiglass and sand down with 240 grid to have that white look for defusion. And never used laminate on the project. Don't know what material you mean.
@@BillSinWorkshop Perhaps Luis is referring to what you're applying at the 2:00 mark. What material are you applying there, transfer release for alignment purposes?
no man !!! is not necessary !!!! the post will take more money than those you will pay for the materials !!! the best is when you come here to my workshop make one for me ha ha ha hah ha don forget to bring the sticker !!!
A very nice highlight in your shop, well done!
FullMetalFox Thank you!
Thanks for this. Really like the project. Great idea with the clouding of the clear perspex by sanding! Thanks.

Simon Hopkins Thanks Simon...you have to go with this project, is easy
I want to make an outdoor lightbox sign for a storefront sign. Will this work?
MDF is not the best choise Forman outdoor sign. I would go with aluminum or steel.
What grit did you use to sand that plexiglass for the semi opaque look?
Normal sandpaper 120 and 240 grid
Looks cool!!
Thanks Derek
cool! i like how you frosted the plexiglass. :-)
