  • In this video we are checking the volume or CC of two different heads. One is a high compression and the other is a stock one..... enjoy the video interesting out come and as always thank you for watching and please leave a comment.

    Great video when machining head down few things to consider. Is piston dome angle and spark plug ground strap distance to dome. Can check this all with silly puddy. Your a machinest simple stuff for you probably. As long as you leave .7 mm gap from piston dome angle and keep ground strap from closing ie plug gap. Your good not all head angles are correct for piston dome angle that's easy to set chuck piston in lathe set tool angle same as dome. That way the gaps correct on sqish angle area

    • @KevinTodd
      @KevinTodd  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you for watching brother I'm going to make a special die and cutter to match the Dome so when I do cut it down you don't want to cut it down and then cut the dome big and still have the same CC but you do want a profile what you got so that's exactly what I'm going to do brother and I'm going to do exactly what you're saying thanks for the info brother

    Keep in mind more compression more power more heat no big deal just keep eye out for signs of pre ignition or defamation. Personal even at 5 cc never seen signs. Ooo yea let's not forget mentioning the cdh cyl head combustion chamber is best design call a toroidal shape ie top hat. Got video on cyl head shapes and flaws all free power with your lathe make you a fixture who knows you can be the high compression head guy once you know the angle and volume it take you ehh 10 minutes max decking and clearance cyl to modify allways ALSO make chamber diameter correct

    If you measure that head Kevin I think you will find the bell is only 44-45mm to the edge of the lip...?? I have widened them to get the gap set for the squish chamber to fire properly and stop preload. Just double check...IDK for sure. Happy 4th sir. Best regards.

    Hey Kevin typically use cheap green alcohol also use a graduated pipette use Vaseline to seal the surface. Never the less. Great video. Try machining your head to a 5 cc. I ran 5s 6s 7s and 8s

      @@KevinTodd you as well when I built motors for a living you allways checked cyl head volumes. Some forms of racing you got torn down and checked port volumes as well. They tested motor volumes with p&g tester had to take off intake and exhaust rocker arms spin motor over that's how the checked engine volume all kinds of rules in professional racing. Frame rail heights left /ride side weight motor locations engine volumes type cranks and rods intake volumes Valve sizes throttle body sizes on and on. Got burnt out years and years ago. I did bicycles for fun tryed sharing factual two stroke hand on help. Glad to help problem is younger folks thinks motor function has magically changed 😂 people I have worked with laugh at me when I messed with bicycle ENGINES

    If ya ever do a minarelli build got for the aluminum cylinder less soft sieze issues as well as if ya running the single ring piston or just one ring go for lateral gas porting and ceramicoat the piston crown reeds help keep temp down as well angle ya window up to hit the wrist pin and piston crown keep it cooler. Adding cc to ya head helps also

    I like the HCH for the improved cooling. Allegedly the one I have is 5.5cc, but now I'm wondering if it's actually higher compression or not. Now I gotta test it myself. Good experiment, thanks for sharing!

    • @KevinTodd
      @KevinTodd  2 роки тому

      Yeah I kind of wanted to know what the CC was because I'm still in with the theory that they're not going to make something for little Johnny to bolt onto his bike and run into a busy intersection doing a hundred miles an hour so they kind of make them the same CC as the stock thank you for watching brother

  • @michaelbrinks8089

    Now I wanna check my CDH cast head. If it's larger CC than stock, I would have been better off just making a free DIY aluminum air scoop to cool my stock cylinder head. Guess I could sand it down a bit & thread the spark plug in more to take up more space.
    Kinda bogus they make false claims of it being a "high compression" head when they could have just as easily made it an actual high compression head. Of course it's gonna cool better being thicker aluminum & less volume/compression.
    Same with the cheap Amazon & E-bay fake floating 203mm brake rotors. They're not actual floating rotors, plus they're slightly out-of-round/egg shaped. So I'm gonna have to trim/grind down the high, out-of-round spots if I want better stopping power. I had to use extra spacers to raise the caliper up to keep the out-of-round rotor spots from hitting the caliper. Save your money and buy the cheaper fixed rotors, I spent $35 total for the Bucklos rotor & bracket. I could have got a better quality fixed rotor & bracket for $20 or $25 total instead.

    • @KevinTodd
      @KevinTodd  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you for watching brother and yeah I'm kind of with the idea of they don't want to make something where little Johnny is going to blast you an intersection at 100 miles an hour on his coaster brake bike so they make the same CC as the stock so they kind of if you want to do something with it do something with it if not just leave it like it is have a great Fourth of July brother

    So I'm not concerned with compression as much as cooling so when buying one would I want larger fins or more mass/heavier piece of aluminum????
