Funny enough, there was an anime episode where they said Farfetch'd was nearly extinct because people ate so many. And there was another episode where they tried to eat a Magikarp, but couldn't because it practically had no meat- just scales and bones.

Magikarp are inedible. Meowth tries to eat one in the show but breaks his teeth on it as it's just scales and bone. There are tons of fish pokemon though so half of them can really just be switched out for generic seafood option I suppose.
Also: as a vegetarian the obvious answer is Tropius as it is literally a fruit tree combined with a dinosaur. I wouldn't have to kill it I could just pluck bananas off its neck indefinitely.

I'm sure eating Cherubi's *berry* is fine, as it is stated in the Pokedex that the berry is just fruit. Pluck it, eat it, Cherubi grows another. Kind of like chickens and eggs really.
Not only that you could probably shave off a Swirlix's fleece and eat that while the rest of the Pokemon is fine.
Or perhaps shave the fur collar off an Eevee and it'll grow back.

In the anime, Misty says that Magikarp are just skin and bone. No meat at all.

ThePrinceOfSaiyajins I believe that was more or less the scales and stuff that were not edible. They said nothing about its insides, which are likely softer and juicy. All ya gotta do is crack it open and peel it with something sharper than teeth to get to the actual meat, cook, and eat. :3

The rest of those are just normal, everyday birds. They probably don't have much meat on them or just taste bad. Pheasants are hunted normally because they provide a lot of good meat for a bird.
People don't really eat pigeons, owls, swallows, kestrels?, or doves, but we do eat pheasant.

Megan Clun (I'm not sure why I start this conversation here but...) Look I know horses must have some holy status with Brits and some other cultures, same with dogs or Hindu cows, but I see no reason not to eat a horse that's been treated well throughout its life.
In my country it's only a pity we don't get more horsemeat because of the inconveniency, low compensation and emotional bond, but there are horse owners who don't let the meat go to waste and they are happy about it.
But no, I haven't eaten horses. I don't have the money/time or I don't usually bother cooking so much. If I find an easy way, I'd like to taste.

Anime=/=Canon
more likely it's an exaggeration. I think Magikarp is sort of like inland crabs (not fiddler crabs), it has meat, just a very small amount of it. Magikarp is essentially a very bony fish with hard scales and very little meat, so you'd want to get a huge one to have any kind of worthwhile meal. Even if you got a ton of them, the work you put into getting that meat out and cooked will be far greater than the payoff.

About malamar, I think it's name is mostly from the old french word "Malabar" which means "brute". Taking into consideration that Kalos is the equivalent of France in the pokemon world makes this logical (I think.... :p...)

Stantler would be an excellent choice for a Pokemon to eat. Venison is delicious and I personally prefer it over beef.
