Of all the vids I've seen, this one was by far the easiest to understand (and most enjoyable to watch)! Thanks, Skatz. And, you too, Skatz. One thing we are really concerned about is taxes if we go over under the NLV (from the USA). Would it be legal (for example) to do a 1-year NLV and enter the country on say, July 3, leaving on July 1 of the following year? This would be 182 days in the first year, 182 days in the 2nd year, which should mean we would not be considered "Spanish Tax Residents". Or, is that kind of thing frowned upon? I've only seen where you need to be in the country for more than 183 days in a year on the NLV, IF you want to RENEW your NLV. That won't be too likely for us.
In theory that’s possible yes. There are ways of reducing your tax burden just like in the US, best speak to Lucia about it though, I’m no expert. She’s on the Partner Directory page of our website youtoospain.com/partner-directory/#open

Hi Scatts do you have to open a spanish bank account? or would a revolut card or any other travel card do?
There are certain companies and government organisations that only accept Spanish IBANS, and also when you’re renewing your residency it really helps to have proper Spanish bank statements, so I would recommend it.

Investing is fine because any gains from investments count as passive income.
Scatts have you heard of a certificate of concordance. My husband is moving from his first NLV and entering his second year on his newly acquired Irish passport. We went to our meeting and we're told we this certificate from either British or Ireland. But we can't locate it anywhere and no one can advise us when we call or email Britain or Ireland.
As far as I know that certificate is a Spanish one for when you get Spanish citizenship and you’re applying for the DNI card. I have a private pension that I can draw out any amount anytime of the year but get charged when I do. Is it allowed to keep the money in the pot rather than withdrawing it into your bank account. Yes you can, the best proofs you can use are having joint bank accounts and having children together.

It can apply up to the age of 21 if they’re still dependent. It needs proof though.

It doesn’t specify, but as they need to know what money you have available, it would be fair to assume it’s net.

The stupid amounts of money normal people have to have in the bank ! The having to pay 300 euros a month to be self employed when a lot of people are not earning 12 months of the year .. and can you tell us what pressure we are under as Brits that want to buy and run a small veggie guest house ? @@homesteadireland7473 you may have replied on another comment, it’s difficult for me to remember everyone’s circumstances.
That’s a common problem you have there, which can only really be solved with more cash or a change of plan. Before Brexit, buying a house and using B&B income was feasible for a lot more people but it’s a whole different ballgame now. If you come over on the Non Lucrative Visa you can earn passive income from a B&B but not if you’re doing any work, so you can’t have guests in your house for example because that involves you making bookings, cleaning, doing the changeovers etc.
The alternative is to get a self employment visa to do it, but that involves making a strong business plan and fulfilling the other requirements for that visa. It’s not just something you can turn up and do.
Sorry it’s not brilliant news. And it’s not Spain’s fault, those are just the visa rules for non EU citizens, they haven’t changed
So basically moving toSpain for non Eu citizens is probably more stress than the move is worth ...we have an estate agent friend that’s English there , they say Spain needs to relax things big time for it to pick up again , Spain is in control of shooting itself in both feet

If the amount covers the financial requirements and all your documentation is in order then you should be able to. Bear in mind you’ll be spending your savings to live on during your 5 years on the Non Lucrative Visa
