Hope you good people stay healthy the health insurance is reason for me to retire in Spain next year I hope last week I was charged 1250$ for small crown again thanks for these wonderful information👍👍
We just signed up for Asisa today, effective November when we make the move. I would love to hear your impression of it now that you've had it for a while (based on the date of your comment) 🙂
Just saw your video on medical coverage! Seen all your videos (since we've lived in El Puerto de Sagunto for almost a year. Love it here! Wish you both the best. (We also used Marina to help with the visas!) Best, Nick
Thank you so much for this info. Great insight. I am contemplating leaving US. Spain seems the most reasonable. My family speak fluent Spanish so language produces no problem. God bless!
Thank you for your video and information, glad you had positive experiences. I believe important to note that In Spain, contrary to other countries in EU, private healthcare insurances are allowed to exclude coverage for pre-existing conditions. Based on the health questionnaire to be completed prior taking out the policy, the insurance company will decide to either completely exclude coverage of this pre-existing condition, or charge additional premium, or include a waiting time, or deny your policy all together. In addition, sad but true, some insurance companies have taken the possibility to terminate existing policies even after a longer period, in case of serious illness and thus unexpected costs. The public healthcare system is not allowed to do this, or exclude pre-existing conditions which is why it is strongly recommended to in case possible also apply for the convenio especial as you already mentioned.
You both are so wonderful! Thank you so much for the super great info, and thank you so much for sharing your personal story! So glad to hear you're doing better Paul ❤️ My girlfriend and I are planning on studying in Barcelona this year coming from the US, and hopefully settling down in Spain long term. Medical is definitely a big reason both of us are looking forward to move as well ❤️🩹 We're so excited! ✨
Thank you for the well wishes! We were just talking today how lucky Paul was that it happened here and not in the US. Not only because he was fully covered by insurance but also because of the efficiency and quality of the care he received. Best of luck on your move! If you need insurance try looking at www.innoinsure.com/visainsurance/everythingisboffo
Glad to hear you're on the mend, Paul. Will be applying under the DNV soon, and hope to meet you and Bea in Valencia in 2024! :) Stay healthy, you two!

Good video. We're still thinking of retiring to Spain from Canada. I have second thoughts considering our health care is amazing and practically free. So why leave...... our winters suck.
Thanks for watching! My sister asked me why will I move to Spain if Canada is so close to the US. I said I’d be miserable in cold weather … part of why Canada didn’t even cross my mind.
Glad to hear you were well taken care of in the Valencia hospital, Paul. One question: could you have used Adeslas for your first year of living in Spain or does it not qualify for the type of insurance you need to be approved for a visa?
Yes we used our insurance (Adeslas) during the first year for check-ups. The visa requirement is for our insurance to have full coverage, no waiting, no copays, with repatriation. So we’ve been with Adeslas since our move.
great info.i am from the uk,i have no medical issues yet at51.the Spanish healthcare system and private medical is one of the main reasons i plan to move and retire in Spain.if or when i need treatment i would expect to be treated, the uk national health service is a joke and has been dreadful for 30 years.A and E waiting times 7-8 hours is normal.appointments with specialists can take as little as 1 year but usualy longer.operations wait 2 years and usualy canceld day before after wating 2 years,i dont want to put up with NHS as i get older and maybe develope problems in my old age, thankyou for this video.
Thank you for watching! Please note our experience is for the private health care which is to us a very very reasonable amount. We’re not sure how the public one is but we heard it’s also good.
Hola! My husband and I will be moving to Spain (bought a house and land on the Camino de Santiago). I am curious to know of preventive health care in Spain. As former residents of the US (as are we), I am sure you are aware of the health care culture here. We have our yearly colon screening where our doctors have a kit auto sent to us and we submit our specimen through the mail and then check our results online. Also, I am schedule for regular mammograms and physicals as prescribed by my primary care doctor. Is it similar in Spain in your experience? Also, I am going through the process donating my kidney to my sibling and wanted to know if this will effect my visa application in any way as I know that diabetes, for instance, most likely would result in a visa denial. Thank you so much for your awesome helpful videos. It is so cool to see fellow Pilipinos following a similar dream :)😍
Hello! I haven’t had a colonoscopy yet but our friends who did LOVED the process. The laxative they got cleaned them out in 1 go, they didn’t get the runs. And then they were done. I got my mammogram results in 10 mins to bring to my doctor. It’s very very efficient and thorough(I guess because I have private insurance). Most blood tests are ready in 2-3 days. I’m not sure if kidney donation will disqualify you, but reach out to www.innoinsure.com/visainsurance/everythingisboffo to see. Good luck kabayan!
Great video! Really informative 😊. One question: If you didn’t have an NLV would you select your current healthcare provider or would you go with another company? Thanks!
Great video! I’m glad you are healthy now. A question: Can one apply to Adeslas directly on the website? Or is an insurance agent needed to do it like in the USA? Sorry about your loss. I too lost someone dear to my heart with whom I had the plan to retire in Spain. That has propelled my plan to this December. Only when one stares death in the eye, one realizes that life is a gift. So God willing I’ll be in Spain by December with my family. Thanks. And I’m glad you two are well.
Hello, we used an agent. Try our insurance Adeslas at www.innoinsure.com/innoinsure/expat-insurance?& So sorry to hear about your loss as well. Best of luck on your move.
We got a list of benefits before we purchased the insurance. The visa we have requires us to get the coverage that has no copayments, no deductible, no waiting for any procedures. But we don’t get any paperwork at all between the renewals of our insurance contract. No explanation of benefits, Everything is covered when we go to the hospitals that take our insurance. If there’s surgery involved, the doctors fill up the paperwork and we just bring it on the day of the operation.
Slightly related but how’s the healthcare for pets? I have a dog that will be moving with me, haven’t been able to find much on healthcare/pet insurance
Hi guys question, does the time you spend over in Spain as a digital nomad count towards time required to become a PR or Citizen? I hold dual citizenships including the Philippines and from what I understand, Filipinos are able "fast track" to Spanish citizenship. Any info would be great!
Hi... I am from India suffering from chron's disease from past few years. Currently I am taking Mesalamine and this year I will be moving to spain for 2 years master's degree. Could you please guide me how can I get these medicines in spain and related healthcare procedure. Thank you
Hello, you will need to see a doctor to get a prescription. If Spain doesn't have the exact medication you are using, the doctor will prescribe the equivalent or similar. If you're coming on a Student visa you may need private insurance. Check out our friends at www.innoinsure.com/visainsurance/everythingisboffo
Have you actually had a consultation with doctors who can't speak English? Most of what I've read online suggests that an interpreter may be needed if you can't speak Spanish well.
Yes we have. Even in the ER and during Paul’s endoscopy, all doctors and nurses spoke entirely in Spanish. They were patient and willing to use Google translate with us.
@@EverythingIsBoffo That's awesome! I never thought doctors there would have the patience to use translation apps. I'm currently at an A2 level in Spanish, but I doubt I'll ever reach a level where I'd be comfortable talking to doctors anytime soon. Oh well, it's not like I'd be able to move there in the next 10 years, lol. But I really hope I could someday. Take care both you. Have a great day!
