Thanks for all that detailed info, the video may be long but very interesting, so I stayed till the end. I may need to watch it again and again until I assimilate all the info, but the way you explain things makes it not boring. But yes in general it is little hard to stay focused for too long, so perhaps shorter videos and from time to time create 1 or 2 longer ones

I like the book The Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet by Donald Hensrud. This book teaches to have unrefined carbs and how to measure calories of protein, carbs, and fats in foods. This book also teaches to have a nonstarcy vegetable and a serving of fruit with every meal. My favorite fruit is a cup of cantaloupe. Cantaloupe helps fill me up while not being high in calories.

Maybe you and a friend could go grocery shopping or perhaps cook together and just show the differences in eating habits. Anyway I just want to leave you With my gratitude and let you know that i'm waiting and watching for your next show😊

Thank you for sharing! I do love this longer deep dive. As a T1D for 50 years (still MDI - no CGM), had to figure out the hard way that everyone is unique and may have a different experience. For me, any bread is a big NO with terrible BG impacts (I suspect wheat gluten?) and the impact is 24 to 48 hours. Not much into the drinks but will indulge in Prosecco (no impact at all) or hard seltzers sometimes adding SF syrups - not very often though. Most fast food for me is a big no, however, I went vegan and low carb and tried Impossible meat. Surprisingly, almost no impact! I make it into a spicy meatloaf with cauliflower rice (or broccoli or ???). No potato anything for me and it's been probably 30 years. Yup avocado for the win! I will add, I've noticed a change in how my body reacts to certain foods or ingredients. Like pistachios previously had an impact and today, not so much (about 3 years ago - same kind, brand, etc). Again, thank you for sharing! If this was available when I was diagnosed, things would probably be very different in my experience! (oh - so happy your partner knew what to do! Mine has come to my rescue several times - I keep honey sticks next to the bed and for severe lows, oral syringes filled with a little corn syrup.)

I am pre diabetic and started watching you recently. Because of your recommendation to use a CGM, I just ordered the 6 sensor package from Lingo. I've only worn it three days so far but I'm learning a lot from the data. I like your short form videos the best probably, but I watched this whole one and was glad to learn how I can evaluate breads, alcohol, and fast food. Unfortunately my favorite drinks are margaritas and capirinhas, but I don't drink often. I am really enjoying your content and thank you for putting so much hard work into your videos.

Important to note that flaxseed must be ground for you to get the full benefits. The seed coat is too tough for our bodies to break down, so whole flax seed will go intact, straight through untouched, and since the fiber can't dissolve, it won't help the glycemic index. Check the ingredients for ground or milled flaxseed instead of just flaxseed. If it's just flaxseed, it's a waste.
Bakers in the US love putting whole flax in their bread because it looks good, especially on the top of the loaf, and can charge more for lower quality bread.

I wonder if you have tried Irish Soda Bread, it has a unique taste. Per 100 grams, it has 43.8 grams of carbs, 3.4 grams of sugars, and 3.5 grams of fibre. So its carb to fiber ratio is not very good.
Bread is great, but the loose breads you get from the bakery usually do not come with a label. This is really difficult when travelling and visiting a central European country where they have all these beautiful breads, but carb counting is guesswork.

When I order pizza, I don't get cheese and get a thin crust. Helps. More of a bruschetta, but if I get meat on it like sausage or chicken then I do not even notice it is missing cheese. Some tasteful toppings also make it taste more like pizza such as black olives, roasted red peppers, or banana peppers.

I just order burgers without buns. I don't like the doughy no nutritional content white buns anyway. I asked at a family cafe that makes the best corned beef hash if they could substitute a vegetable for the potatoes and they made mine with green bell pepper instead and it was delicious so don't be afraid to ask for a low carb substitute in restaurants.I will also bring my own Keto bread with me and transfer the fillings onto my bread. Of course I only do this if I go out with really close friends. Type 1 for 55 years.

    ok...making bread
IF you add inulin fiber to any bread recipe, can you change the ratio?
adding inulin to cornbread, or any bread mix should change this ratio and effect the carb loading, right?
i guess the real trick is what to manipulate in the recipe to allow for this added fiber with wetness and such

Sourdough is a process how you make a bread. But still you need to pay attention on the ingredients. For example, is the flour whole wheat, black rye, or mixture with white flour. If the sourdough bread is made of white flour, I'd recommend not to eat it. Whole wheat or black rye sourdough bread is still best option for diabetes.

Something I really hate is the alcohol. I dont drink much at all but NO BRAND of alcohol comes with the sugar/fat/protein content on it, so I cannot dose my insulin. Thankfully I dont drink much, but I will take in mind about whisky in case I feel like drinking
I have a 5.7% right now but it is mostly by not eating many carbs at all. All the food is turning into unhealthy, sugary and fast carbs, so not many chances of eating carbs (unless I meal prep something myself)
