One trick I like to use is just to play what I hear. You should try it. As for the pentatonic climb down I can just imagine how that sounds in the hands of beginner jazz guitarists (or experienced jazz guitarists for that matter). I really can. I get that you were just trying to promote your channel but why must everything on youtube be cliched hacks?
