Fond childhood memory - my sister and I would pluck the "snowballs" from our great-grandparents' bushes, stand on their little bridge over the creek, toss the snowballs up creek, run to the other side and watch them pass under the bridge and continue floating downstream. Cheap entertainment for a child, but wonderful memories. Your gardens and entire property are spectacular. :)
Oakleaf Hydrangeas are TOUGH! I bought one last Fall to plant, but COVID hit and my household was hit hard. Needless to say, it didn't get planted and sat tucked in with a couple of Annabelles waiting to be planted in Spring. They were forgotten all Winter! My husband swore they were dead, my response was to have faith. A week after planting, they bagan to show some growth. They have All bloomed beautifully throughout the Summer. I know your new additions will perform beautifully for you!
“Does that make us old?” 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Now that I’ve recovered from laughing… Thanks for spotlighting the Oakleaf Hydrangeas. I’ve always shied away from them because the blooms aren’t as “full” as a typical hydrangea, but I didn’t know their leaves change colors in the fall. That would make a nice change in the garden. That’s something I love about your channel. You introduce us to different plants & varieties we might not otherwise see as an option for the garden. 🌻
The tale of the two Laura's. 🤣 I loved that blended video seeing you plant next to yourself. Some days, don't we wish we could be two people to get more done.
This is my very favorite video format on your channel. Education in the beginning, tour at the end, and that very lovely time in the middle where we get to listen to some relaxing music and watch Laura (and “clone Laura!”) do her thing. It’s honestly my favorite way to start the day, especially on a Monday. We are *finally* getting some desperately needed rain in Kansas City, so I’m happily staying indoors and letting Mother Nature nurture my garden today. Thank you for sharing your lovely garden with us. I look forward to seeing those shrubs grow and fill in!
My grandparents had a gigantic snowball bush at the corner of their home, and I still remember how joyful and magical it was for me as a small child. I've never been so lucky to have a yard large enough to accommodate one and can't wait to see yours grow and blossom!! Thank you for, Laura and Aaron, for creating such a wonderful channel. You bring such joy to my heart. Bless you, all!
With the world still feeling out of whack and not an awful lot to be happy about it's wonderful to watch your garden developing and know that we have something to look forward to over the coming years! Can't wait to see all those glorious trees in about 5 years time. Thanks for all the joy you bring us!!!
Loving the new hydrangeas x I love it when you put two Laura’s in a shot. Oh if only we could clone Laura because let’s face it, the world would be such a nicer place with more of her in it xxxx Laura thank you for brightening our lives with your knowledge, wonderful manner and expertise. Love to all the family xxxx
When I see you are doing ' just another planting' video, I become fascinated with Ken's photography tricks and music choices. Thanks Ken for keeping me interested.
Laura, you’re giving your secret away. 🤣 you split yourself into “clone Lauras” and that’s how you get so much done in your vast gardens. 😂 Things are really looking great in every direction!💚💚💚
My appreciation for trees has grown so much since I started watching you. Just visited Glacier National Park and I’m in Banff National Park right now. The evergreens are absolutely gorgeous! Also, want to shout out to our Canadian friends! Your country is stunning! Everyone is so friendly and the country is breathtaking!❤️ Every time I see a flower or bush I think, “Oh, that’s one Laura has shown us!”
Everything is so beautiful. I have been expanding alot this year. We just bought a little piece of property with a creek going through, so I made a beautiful water slash shade garden and had some big boulders delivered. Now it is getting fully developed on an ance of property with hidden trails. Another big area of another part of our land I did like you did years ago, I planted everything in full sun then the trees grew creating shade so I had to transplant thousands of plants and shrubs. It took me about 2 seasons to move them to another sunny location with no trees, well just a few that grow about 15 ft. I'm glad that done now. I am retiring next year and now I can sit back and relax in all my 20 acres of gardens. Happy gardening everyone.
I just love to watch you plant. Never boring. And this time loved the editing Aaron, was a neat way to show you on the last two plants at the same time. Just a little twist, very nice.
I love how the new flower bed is turning out with the dining area and Samantha's swing...such a sweet little spot! I see lots of family time there in the future ❤️
Love how you put up the plants names. Really helps when English is not your mother tongue. For example you say Hookerah for Heuchera and we say 'Hoy-shair-ah" and for Anemone you pronounce Ah-naym-you-nih and we say Ah-nay-mow-neh. Thanks again. Beautiful
Is it just me, or do others take 30 minutes deciding where to plant something and then 10 more minutes spinning the plant around trying to get its “best” side lol! Laura makes a decision and plops it in the hole-I need her confidence. Oakleaf hydrangeas are beautiful-can’t wait to see them fill in. 😊
My grandmother had a snowball brush and a lilac brush. Great memories. Your children will have great memories running over your property, playing games and having you both there with them. So much that you plant l remember them at different homes as a child.
Oh, Laura, that south garden is getting so full and lush. It’s come so far in such a short time. I realize you could not have done this much without your UA-cam income, but you have given those of us who have to approach a project like this on a much slower schedule so much valuable information…..resilient low maintenance perennials and bushes, a few small shrubs, and maybe budget for one larger tree or spruce every year. For those of us who love the challenge of saving those beat up half dead looking clearance plants, the possibilities are endless…and who doesn’t love a bargain? Perhaps a winter project could be going through aerial footage of the empty space when you purchased it and the progression over the first year, and 2nd year, and 3rd year, etc. definitely too time consuming to attempt during the growing season, but perhaps something that could be done in January or February. Then once you get it altogether you would only have to work on one growing season every winter to have a video diary of sorts. I think we would all like to see that, and it would be invaluable to your family in the future. Imagine your grandchildren or great-grandchildren looking back at the empty space where you created what will be a park like paradise by then. 🥰🦋
Love, love, love the snowball viburnum-the leaf form and the early spring and bountiful white bloom. Can’t think of a shrub that makes me happier. 😄❤️😄
I have been watching you for a few years now 💚 You inspire me to garden more and plan new garden spaces and be adaptable and not be afraid to move plants when they don't like their spot anymore
Love to see you working in the older parts of the garden. So glad you replaced the blue spruce. Looking forward to seeing that area get developed. Thank you for all the daily inspiration to get out and work in the garden. We are on a trip right now and I always look forward to getting back home and out in the garden. Appreciate you guys and all you do to encourage us!
I love the way you guys add to your gardens as plants become available and look good at the garden centers. It makes your work so much more relatable to gardeners who design and plant on their own.
Am glad you called attention to the leaf structure of some of the plants you talked about today because they add some much interest. Thank you for sharing your beautiful gardens.
Beautiful hydrangeas! I wish I was not so afraid of them. I've bought, and subsequently lost, hydrangeas on three different occasions. I loved that you included the photo of Linda Vater's snowball viburnum! I plan to have one of those some day, too. You, and Linda, too, are such an inspiration! Thank you for all your hard work and sharing your magnificent gardens.
The great plants you can use in your zone makes me wish I lived in a little cooler climate . Florida doesn’t have such gorgeous trees to pick from. How beautiful those are gonna look.
oh, those are all going to be gorgeous!! looking at the end of this video, with that luscious green grass and all the planting you've done, i was trying to remember that big patch of dirt you started with, lol... WOW!!! it's looking amazing! 🙂 ❤ thanks for the video!! 🙂 ❤
Thank you, Laura, for providing information, inspiration, and entertainment in your videos. The south garden/loop area is really taking shape. I like looking at it now, and in three to five years it will be just lovely. 😊🌸☀️🌷🌼🦋
Loved how you cloned yourself to help with planting the snowball bushes 😀! This video was a bit sad because I'm in a solid zone 9 and I want a snowball bush and the crab apple 😞 okay pity party over - another great video to start my day! Thank you for bringing cheer and encouragement to our crazy world!
The double Laura was fun to compare to see how consistent you are with planting and watering! Kudos to Ken who probably saw it on the footage you shot and then thought “this will be fun!”
I have 3 snowball viburnums . I got them super small at Home Depot. I’m in Southern California so I was gonna try and make them work - AND THEY ARE GROWING !!! Beautiful plants . I do have them in containers
Good morning Laura and Aaron! Love hydrangeas and the tree you planted but I really was intrigued to see how the grass pathways are doing. We only got a glimpse and they seem to be looking really good. Aaron, how about a drone fly by soon?? Hugs from N.C..❤️
I'm loving the aerial shots that you've been including recently! It helps me see what you (and I would) see while planting. Also, definitely looking into that mosquito zapper! They drive us indoors at night when we want to be out in the yard!
Beautiful as usual u should put a few benches under the trees after they get bigger. Love ur show u and Aaron and the kids are such a beautiful family. God bless.
Can anyone else actually smell the foliage as Laura runs her hands through the plants? I find Lavender in particular - a scent which I love - is really strong, and such a bonus!!
I know that your Russian Sage was not the subject of this video, but can we just acknowledge how beautifully it inserted itself into your video and just made itself a star!!! Wow! I was able to get some last year on clearance and now I long for the day it’s as full and lush looking as yours!
Things are looking fabulous! Just a suggestion: since spruces seem to do well for you, some of the smaller ones make wonderful blue accents in the landscape, for example Montgomery or globosa. I absolutely love them for that pop of blue that anchors a perennial bed. My Montgomerys only get around 5' tall after many years, and are generally wider that they are tall.
Good morning, Laura☕️. I too planted an Oakleaf Hydrangea this summer and I can’t wait to see them bloom!🙌🏻 Everything is looking so good. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
Oh those oak leaf hydrangeas are gorgeous! Would love to have some but they just won’t survive in my zone 3 garden. I just got ten Bobo hydrangeas to plant as a boarder/hedge along my cut flower garden and I am beyond excited! I’ve been binge watching your videos getting ideas of what else I want to plant along with them! Love the video like always!
Recently at our local garden center in the middle of Wisconsin, the owner commented on my vast selection and asked if I knew of Garden Answer. Of course, "my idle & inspiration" I happily told her. She said "you really look like her!" which completely made my ...year!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Laura, you mentioned how you would love to do Bees again but was wondering if you thought of doing Bee hotels for Mason Bees? They live for one year and lay their egg inside the Bug hotel for the next spring. And you don't have to stress or worry about taking care of them. Thank you for all you positive energy. You are a shining light in the day & age. I love how all your property is coming together & is inspiring to go out and tackle what needs to be done in my garden. Have a great day & again thank you for all you do.💙❤🐝🌻
I love the different episodes where you comment on bringing the 4 colors of the garden into each area. I would love to see a video dedicated to just that. Would you be willing to go around to each garden and comment on the 4 colors of plants and trees that you have as companions? I.E. my blue accent in this garden is “….”, and the purple for that area is “….”, and yellow etc. I would be super interested to have those all in one video. Keep up the great work! Love your channel!
Good morning! ☕️I’m in south GA , zone 8b. I have a huge oakleaf down our lane. It gets filtered light and is doing really well. I think it’s been planted about 5 years as a mere twig and it’s at least 10 feet tall. The branches reach for the sun giving it a beautiful shape. And yes, the blooms are massive, some over a foot long. Good luck with yours!
Glad you are having some cooler weather😄. Everything is looking beautiful and filling in. Can’t wait to see the Snowball bushes grow and bloom-thehwill be spectacular!
Good Morning! Love all of these! It's going to look amazing. Would you give us an update on the new mature trees you planted in the Spring, please? Thank you for all you do, you make me brave in my gardens! xoxoox
I cannot wait to see those snowball bushes in the spring!! You are so inspiring Laura. I live in New Zealand and a lot of what you plant we cant get here and it totally sucks we are opposite seasons because you just make me want to go out and get in my garden but its mid winter here.
Danielle - I know what you mean. I'm in South Africa and can only drool over the plants that Laura has in her garden. But at least we get to share in her wonderful garden!
Yeah very true though some of them like the snowball tree we can get excited about... and sometimes their plants are called something different common named
The beauty of gardening is every region and country offers so many different flowering plants that no matter where you live, we all wish we could grow plants not available in our zones. This is why classes and groups like this is so enjoyable so we can see and appreciate all the beauty gardeners so love sharing. I know I dream of growing exotic plants I see online not able to grow here in North Carolina, but do wish I could share my many of these cool hydrangeas to you all if I could. Loving this site and flower loving growers worldwide, a hobby and love that has no borders.
@@cherylpeacock7298 yes its funny when you come across something laura has planted but its called something else. I wish we could get all the supertunias. Sometimes my garden centre will get in bubblegum but thats all and its $15 a plant! Otherwise proven winners doesnt really exist down here.
@@emilypoole5686 its so beautiful isn’t it! And i love watching people plant things that i think jez that is an ugly plant but they pair it with the most beautiful things and next minute I’m trying to find one haha.
Rubbing my eyes because I'm seeing double Lauras planting. Wish I could clone myself like that a to get more work done faster around here like Laura. And laughing at "Are we old?" for watching the mosquitos being zapped. My oak leaf hydrangeas here in Texas are thriving -- even in this crazy 104+ daily heat. I'm ready to plant ,more of them too. And that viburnum! Wow! Looking for space for one too. Everything is looking beautiful as always!
Good Morning! 🌞🌻 Cooler weather has arrived in my area too & I am taking advantage!! I need to check out that mosquito zapper! I love the way The South Garden is growing! Everything is gorgeous!! 😍🥰💚🤍💜🌿
It’s amazing to see how much your land has changed in a relatively short amount of time:) You keep on saying in 3 to 5 years :) look how much it’s grown in a year:) it’s absolutely pretty :) tfs God Bless:)
My NEW FAVORITE CHANNEL 🥰 I’ve been following you ALL SPRING… You are an AMAZING SOURCE of Professional Landscaping Knowledge!!! Thanks for all the TIME you spend to help educate us 🤜🤛
Oh my goodness! I just bought four Gatsby Hydrangeas, $19 each (Canadian $) on sale!!! I couldn't believe my eyes!! And then then the challenge was wondering where I should be planting mine but your video helped me decide!! So exciting! thank you for the inspiration ♥️ I love your chanel and every day when I wake up my routine is, coffee and Garden Answer for my start of the day, Love it! I'm my a nurse and nothing is more relaxing and encouraging right now, so thank you ♥️
Great video loved it. Love the crabapple. Yes Yes to the grasses. They would look gorgeous. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Appreciated.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I think of gardening design and taste very much like music. And, you certainly have a particular rhythm. Yeah, you are singing my song. Love the melody of placement and thought where each plant will be spectacular. Thanks, Laura...it's so much fun. Now...where is that shovel?! HA
The Snowball Virburnum is an excellent shrub - I planted one about 25 years ago. Our area (in New Zealand) also has high alkaline soil - Limeworks just down the road! And we have hot summers and cold winters (although not as hot or cold as Laura's) and often a lot of wind. So 6 years ago I planted a hedge of them! They are easy care and trouble free and make a change from an evergreen hedge.
Pooh sticks! I love it😊 (and if you haven’t read the AA Milne Winnie the Pooh books, you’re missing out 😂)
@@denisedorsey2889 agreed! LOVE WtP!

Nice shot of “two” Laura’s working!
Everything is looking so beautiful!
Good Morning! Love all of these! It's going to look amazing. Would you give us an update on the new mature trees you planted in the Spring, please? Thank you for all you do, you make me brave in my gardens! xoxoox
Your gardens are coming together so beautifully!❤️❤️❤️
These are beautiful plants and tree that already are a gorgeous addition to your garden!
Your plants and trees are all coming together so beautifully. Will be more beautiful in years to come ❤️
My mother had a beautiful snowball bush in her small garden. It was just beautiful in bloom.
??Aaron we need an overhead view, please…
You all have added so much!
Love you guys!
Laura you have a twin! Hahaha! Love the editor!
Loved the music, very relaxing.

Great video loved it. Love the crabapple. Yes Yes to the grasses. They would look gorgeous. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Appreciated.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Laura, have you thought about recording yourself playing a beautiful piece on your piano and then using that as background music? We would enjoy it!
Fabulous editing by Ken, giving us two Laura’s 😄 loved it 😍
