Im in Humboldt county Northern California 🌲 by the Sea 🌊 I can grow all the different types of hydrangeas 😊 I love all the blue and white ones. Thank you for sharing this information. Happy gardening 💚🙌🌿
Great video! Could you please let me know how and when to divide my hydragenia plant in the planter into two planters to give the plant more room to grow. Thank you in advance
Great video, but you should have mentioned that there are many different types of hydrangeas. Not all hydrangeas bloom on old growth, the paniculata tyoes, and smooth leave hydrangeas like annabel bloom only on new growth so it does not matter when you prune those. Also not all hydrangeas change color depending on soil PH. Panicle hydrangeas only change to pink when the nights start to get cooler in the summer.
First mistake about pruning you stated. It depends on type of hydrangea because some of them you can actually cut it to the bottom and it will be forgiving and will come back next year and flower.
Hello, from Zone 9B, Las Vegas, Nevada. Just ordered a couple of Oakleaf hydrangeas. I'm afraid to put them in our terrible clay kalichi soil. They're going into containers...
I never prune or fertilize my hydrangeas. But we should remember that there are two kinds of big leaf hydrangeas. Those who bloom on old stem (from previous year) and you should not prune them at all. Those who bloom on new stem can be pruned though. But in my opinion, their blooms are not as big and beautiful as those on old stem.
I live in Toronto if I do not pruned the hydrangeas before winter starts they do not flower the next year. During the summer, specially in August, the hottest moth of the year, I need to water them every day
the tags are super general and can’t account for different locations. full sun in Florida is not the same as full sun in Chicago. and some hydrangeas like limelight’s and oak leafs can really thrive in full sun.
Hydrangeas love water. They need a lot more in a sunny spot. Put a soaker hose on them and keep the ground damp all the time. If the leaves are curling and turning yellow, it hasn’t had enough water. Keep watering to keep them alive, and next year make sure you give plenty of water so they stay green and thrive.
Zone 9 is too hot for the hydrangeas to change from white to pink. panicle hydrangeas only change to pink when the nights get cool. It's a temperature thing. The macrofila hydrangeas (pom pom type) go blue in acidic soil and pink in alkaline soil but do not change color when it starts getting cool at night.
PLEASE tell me what you use to fertilize them as I have a white one and DONT want it to change colour as I ❤ the white. Also what soil combination do you use and do yiu use an ericacious compost for container grown hydrangeas in the UK ???
@susanarojo3906 well mine did from WHITE TO GREEN TO BURNT ORANGE last year after I fed it with liquid tomato fertilizer. Thankfully theyre blooming white again this year
I'm in Abruzzo Italy, and I've bought 2 beautiful white hydrangeas and one died and the other is just hanging on. It's in a big planter, I've moved it a few times but it's not looking well. It's been quite hot here suddenly, hardly any Spring but I look after my plants and plant them in good potting mix. Can anyone please help me???
In hot weather and/or full sun you need to water more frequently. Also, as yours are in pots, they will dry out more quickly and the nutrients in the potting compost will also be used up quite quickly. Apply hydrangea feed in spring as buds are breaking and again in July as they are in bloom. I would also recommend liquid seaweed fertiliser every two weeks throughout the growing season. If yours are in full sun, it’s particularly important to pay attention to watering requirements. Hope this helps and good luck! 😊
Your comment sucks and I hope you don't spread that miserable attitude elsewhere in your personal life or I assure you people will not want to be around you. Be a better human.
I love this video. Thank you so much. I’m a beginner and a lazy gardener. This video gives me so much hope.
Thank you for all the information you gave on this video.

Thank you very much. Great tips.
Awesome tips! I recently took some hydrangea cuttings, and they turned out great! I will be doing a video on it soon. I'm very excited! 😊
Can't wait!
Best video ever on UA-cam!
Thank you so much!
I want to plant them, but it’s way to hot right now now in Florida 😩
Thank you for the kind words! You are right, too hot in Florida!
Good, helpful tips. Thank you.
I’m glad you found it helpful! Il

It’s a very important point. Thanks for bringing up. I learned the difference myself the hard way.
Great video; best I've seen!

Do you fertilize hydrangeas in the fall?
I never prune or fertilize my hydrangeas. But we should remember that there are two kinds of big leaf hydrangeas. Nice work

What type should I grow in South Africa
I would like to keep mine a certain size. Do you have any pruning tips?
You have to check the instructions and details of the hight before buying it and let it grow. Those plants are not supposed to be prunned
I don’t understand why the tags always says “sun” 🤔
It means morning sun. Afternoon sun burns them.
the tags are super general and can’t account for different locations. full sun in Florida is not the same as full sun in Chicago. and some hydrangeas like limelight’s and oak leafs can really thrive in full sun.
@@tspfull so true.
Is there a Hydrangea variety that can be deadheaded/cut back to keep the plant smaller.
they have dwarf varieties that are naturally smaller.
I just found white cotton like patches on my hydragena any suggestions?
Sounds like mildew. Spray with Copper Fungicide. I use Captain Jack's brand. You can spray every two weeks and reapply after it rains.
In zone 9, they turned brown, I think I wasnt watering enough...😭 what do I do now?
Mine did too I just planted two weeks ago help

Don’t worry. The white ones will not change color no matter what you do.
As far as I know white hydrangeas don’t change their color

I would love to listen, but can’t concentrate with the music it’s over stimulating.
What's the point of that background music?? Bye
Whats the point of your comment? Just say nothing.

…what are we going to do? Mavispointer left…clown!
I could do without the background music, too. But I stuck around. There was lots of great info.
Music sucks.
