    I completed the challenge on a warrior last year, I got some tips that I hope will help you guys:
    -Green quests and mobs (3-5 lvls below) are king, always favour those over yellow quests and mobs
    -If you run out of doable quests don't jump into another zone where mobs are higher level, you're better off grinding green bois
    -Judge every quest you do individually, take into consideration a risk/reward ratio and decide if it's worth it, if it's not, dont forget you'll get that xp anyways from grinding fairly quickly
    -Don't go into caves you know to be sketchy and if you don't know, look it up first
    -Never get cocky, don't think you'll get away with every 30mins popping retal and sweeping strikes and pulling 6 mobs every time
    -EVERYWHERE you go, you must figure out an escape plan, whether it be a carved out path you made yourself by killing mobs or as simple as positioning
    -I strongly recommend engi as a warrior, since your only getaway tools are hamstring and intidimating shout, now you'll have grenades, target dummies and others which saved my life a couple of times, you can also farm dust devils in westfall for magic dust as an extra
    -Cooking is very important and you should always keep it up to date, having a stam/spirit buff all the time is very useful
    -Ideally you should pull mobs with a ranged weapon if there's a risk you pull more if you charge there
    -A ranged weapon can also be useful to cheese some mobs with pathing, so don't neglect a quality ranged weapon
    Thats what I loved about doing this challenge on a warrior, every single move you do has to have a strategy behind it, if you don't think and just zugzug it there's a good chance you're gonna die.

    One thing I've learned that can really help you is to do 2 starter areas (your own and another one of your faction) to get ahead in XP. Or grind out to level 8 if you don't mind grinding. Those 2 extra levels REALLY help and you'll still notice the effects when you move to your level 12+ zone

    i died 3 times on warrior until i level prot. spec from the beginning combating mobs in def stance. its slower, but you get a lot of revenge procs, combined with improved revenge and shield block, you almost get no damage. plus, you have last stance pretty early. it will be rare to level as prot, but its a marathon, not a sprint, and patience is the key. in addition, early range weapon for save mob pulls is the key as well as beeing an engineer for target dummies and stunning grenades

    Pro tip to aspiring brownies, rend and sunder armor are great when leveling, avoid heroic strike like the plague unless you’re rage capped and always stay in battle stance except for quick swaps to cast whirlwind etc.
    Rend is one of the best damage per rage abilities, it does fall off in the 40s though.
    Sunder armor is one of the only armor pen sources in vanilla, it makes your autos hit a lot harder and gives you more rage.
    Heroic strikes not only costs 15 rage but denies rage generation on your next hit making you really rage starved.
    The extra crit chance from berserker stance is generally not worth the extra 10% damage taken.
    And don’t use execute if you have a lot of rage, the rage you use to overkill a mob could’ve been spent killing the next mob much faster.

    I think the one thing you missed was warriors get huge hp5 from spirit, like way more than any others. 30 spirit is like an extra 30 hp/2 so it's nice to have one or two pieces with spirit on it, it'll definitely save some silver and downtime when you don't have to eat all the time.
    And if you really want to go the extra mile, you could have a whole spirit set that you could macro-swap to to circumvent eating entirely, just don't be somewhere unsafe.

    A very tiny detail that could possibly help HC players is how to pull mobs in the world... You don't always have to charge in and risk pulling nearby mobs (asspull radius is sometimes greater than mob pull radius when it enters combat), SO it's sometimes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to use your ranged throw or shoot ability to pull one specific mob, instead of charging it. Losing a bit of rage from not charging is better than losing your life on a horrific chain-pull accident (unforeseen consequences).
    Another tiny detail is, you need to remember some mobs run, SO it's always great to not just shoot a mob, but also drag the mob further away from its friendlies to like 50-60 yards, so you have some room to chase it after it starts to run. Try to remember/predict which mobs will run (usually humanoid mobs tend to run more than beast mobs. Undeads never run as far as i remember, but if you know of an exception to this please let me know, i'm curious.), and it's great to pre-hamstring mobs before they hit their run threshold. Not sure what that is, but it's around 15%-20%.
    One last bit of wisdom is, if you aren't sure if a certain mob will chainpull or not, it's worth starting your pull from that said mob, shoot it and see what it pulls with it. Sometimes it's better to see if it will be a catastrophic pull early and have time to run than to find out too late. Example: 2 mobs one of which you need will definitely pull together, but there's a 3rd mob that doesn't interest you in a sus distance away from the 2 and he is in turn in a sus distance away from a 4th and 5th mob that don't interest you. It's better to 'test' it by attacking the 3rd monster from range and being ready to run out (think of your route back and check if any patrols or respawning mobs are in the way, and test if the 3rd mob pulls 4th or 5th, or even 1st and 2nd. If the 3rd mob pulls 4 5 you run. run like the wind. Possibly look for another place where you can find mobs 1 and 2 where it's safer. If it pulls 1 and 2 but not 4 or 5, you might consider pulling them back a bit and killing all 3 if you feel you can handle it, but if nothing pulls it's probably best to pull it back a bit and kill it so as not to risk pulling 45 with 12 when you pull.

    On a warrior, the key to the first 20-30 levels is to have a decent amount of Spirit on your gear.
    Spirit give you a very big amount of health back when out of combat.
    Also stacking Agility is way better then stacking Strength (Crit % is better then dealing a minute amount of extra damage per hit)

    • @Andrewz167
      @Andrewz167 Рік тому +1

    • @Stompy1984
      @Stompy1984 Рік тому +2

      @@Andrewz167 You don't want to go overboard with +Spirit on gear.
      You just have a couple items with the 'of the Boar' or 'of the Wolf' affix for the +Spirit.
      If you needed 5-7 more Stamina to survive... you should not have pulled that mob in the firstp lace.
      The extra say 15-20 Spirit you gater by having 3-4 pieces with some extra Spirit (use some Stamina/Spirit food as well) will make you regen over 40 hitpoints every 2 seconds when not incombat which makes you a lot more efficient in leveling without the need of a lot of food/potions.
      When tanking dungeons you want to swap those Boar/Wolf pieves for either Bear/Monkey obviously since Spirit doesn't do much/anything in there when tanking.

    For the Arms leveling talent build I would recommend taking 2h Weapon Spec before Impale as it will actually increase baseline rage gen. Also Impale only works on crits with special attacks, so while gear is lower in quality the talent provides much lesser value than 2h Weapon Spec imho. I would also take a point out of Improved Overpower + Imp Hamstring and put them both into Improved Charge. You will use Charge hundreds upon hundreds of times while leveling, and that constant improved rage gain every 15s really adds up over time.

  • @drruben98
    @drruben98 Рік тому +3

    Another point for fury is the lack of deep wounds which enables you to always get a full bandage using fear + bandage or running away with it.
    Also I'd argue tanking as fury is sweeter since you get enrage + speed, and I've found the best way to tank is to try and maintain a rage pool throughout the whole dungeon that you spend at start of pool then save up again. Great video!

    One tip I have is to get comfortable with stancedancing. Bind Tab to the last spot in your stance actionbar. When in Battle stance, put Berserker stance in that slot. Enter Berserker stance and put Battle stance in that same slot.
    Now you can switch between Battle and Berserker stance very quickly and easily.
    You can also change the setup to switch between Defensive and Berserker stance for tanking.
    So Battle -> Defensive Berserker stance.
    I don't know what classic looks like, but in the old days, stancechanging (and charge/intercept?) didn't trigger GCD, meaning you can pull off quite intricate manouvers with very little effort. Was also very useful when Taunt only had a 8 yard range.
    Keep in mind that your ragepool will take a hit from changing stances, but sometimes mobility is worth more than rage.

    Stage One: Baby’s First Warrior: You’re curious how hard it will actually be. This is either your first Classic Warrior or you mained one before and want another go with Hardcore. You might die early and move on but if not then Stage Two is for you.
    Stage Two: Determination: You’ve failed a few warriors by this point and now want to at least get a few zones in. At some point you may debate picking up a duo to make it easier or you’ll just continue on solo.

    Stage Four: Success: You did it. You reached level 60 on the hardest class to do it. Now comes a choice. Do you continue into raiding or do you stop playing the toon and start collecting level 60s?
    Stage Five: Vaelastrasz the Corruptor: You’re a tank. You knew this was coming. I hope your guild knows a trick and don’t expect you to fall on your *insert one hander here* for them to progress.

    Bit of misinformation (perhaps just misspeaking) I'd like to quickly clear up;
    6:55 Actually it's not the distance from their "spawn point", it's the distance from their place of agro. Mobs such as Sharptalon, Shadumbra, and Ursangous in Ashenvale will spawn and follow a set patrol route that can actually stray quite far from the spawn point. When such a mob is agroed and then reset and then agroed again, the point at which the leash breaks changes because they have progressed further in their route rather than if it were from the fixed spawn point.
    7:04 It's not an "invisible leash timer", it's measured using distance, mobs will not stop attacking you after a certain amount of time, you can do circles around the original agro location while leashing without getting hit indefinitely if you want.

      Shaman is ridiculously hard to reach 60 in hardcore for some reason, made 6 of them and they all died in The Barrens. I don't understand why that is but on Hardcore my Warrior, Hunter, Mage, and Warlock I had a MUCH easier time than with Shaman (despite Shaman being my favorite class in WoW). Tried Enh, Ele, Resto.... something just always went wrong no matter what I did. I am doing a Priest run, then a Rogue eventually but I just will never understand why my Shamans always end up dead. I guess I subconsciously knew that I could heal so I'd get greedy but when shit hit the fan the healing just wasn't good enough to handle spike damage, then I'd go OOM. Earthbind totem would get resisted when it mattered most and I generally died before getting Frost Shock.

I've got warrior to 60 twice a 57 38 and 29 .. usually if I die it was because I just did something reckless like trying to solo blood of hero's or save a mage that's cornered by Drakk XD

    I started the hardcore aventure with a warrior around 2 weeks ago. I am now lvl 28. So far, so good. The only times I almost died were because of random disconnections, other players or because of roaming elites that surprise you. The rest is just chill. I'm maxing professions asap all the time (alchemy+herbalism and all secondaries).
    Always potted, always food-buffed. I feel like a beast. Fingers crossed for what is coming past 30 😅

    Warrior was the only class I lvled in HC SoM...funny enough it's the only class I don't have a 80 of in wotlk besides mage.
    Been really considering lvling again and going full naked. Watching all these HC clips really got the itch going...and I need HC spiced up a bit.
    Edit: another good tip is to macro mouseover for your charge. Makes things easiest when charging away or if you fall and have a mob nearby, reducing the risk of misclicking the mob

  • @ett32g
    @ett32g Рік тому

    Prot gives Last stand, 45% chance to stun with revenge (unique DR), concussion blow (5sec stun) and double shield block. Alternatively you can get 5% parry with arms and overpower crits but not much else until later levels because you won't be critting often and whirlwind isn't until 36. Fury is the clear choice for DPS single target if the monsters don't dodge but won't get going until enrage. Sweeping strikes is not always great for HC because fighting two enemies can be dangerous.
    I was using a 2h until 43 and was planning to swap to arms but then I got an epic shield and the damage with shield slam + 1h spec is quite good. Single target I do almost the same damage as 2h and with only 1 bandage every 4 yellow mobs.

    I just leveled a fury/prot warrior and it was the best as far as fun!!!! I had never played a warrior before and I fell in love 😻. If you want to kill mobs on the way to ur next location use charg its the warriors blink plus taunting u have 2 charges and a taunt so u can kill fast! It took me a month to level to 80. When i would go into an area i was usually finished before anyone else got started lol. AND dont get me started with Prot PVP 😂 u wanna have a smile that wont stop till the end well that’s the warrior! Unfortunately I started leveling a Disc Priest after. So best tip..dont ever try and level anything else after ur warrior they pale in comparison as far as speed.I’m actually considering making my first twink with the priest at 59 bc yea lol. I guess those two 2 handed weapons in fury really are bis in itself 👏. Blizzard has also announced a glyph change for shattering throw so u eont have to change stances to use to be able to use. Good luck!

    I would actually recommend a warrior. Why? Because your actions matter. If you mess up: You messed up. So you need to think about every pull.
    It teaches you how to play well and to use everything you have.
    Also: Some rather surprising, good early game weapons. Both the Deadmines and the Wailing caverns have a quest to defeat bosses that reward you with a Staff. That thing is extremely good for your level in terms of DPS and can easily last you until 30.

    Great video, I'll add some thoughts to the fury thing: Improved intercept is one of the best survivability options warriors have, so be sure to take that instead of dual wield specialization, which doesn't have any benefit while using a shield, and the benefits even while dual wielding aren't great. I value berserker rage over that due to the free intercept and it making up somewhat for the lack of tactical mastery early on (though I usually grab it prior to deep fury). The reason you go fury over arms, even with a 2Her, is due to the better tanking ability, and the synergy between imp intercept and piercing howl, which increase survivability by more than you'd think!
    Personally I'd drop rend/deep wounds/impale and snag imp overpower along with imp intercept and imp berserker rage (plus two parry to boot!). I'm not a huge fan of imp execute for HC either, and would rather have imp demoralizing shout since I'm using it in every situation that matters, while with execute, a lot of the time I choose not to execute to conserve rage. I'd take some talents out of the talent next to it (whatever it's called, it gives you like a couple rage per swing I think, it isn't that great) to fill it out.
    Also note that all that advice is for leveling. At 60 the usual advice holds.

    I highly recommend NOT putting Points into Rend DW Impale, because
    a) Rend falls off after lvl 20 even with this talent and wont be used
    b) DW and Impale (which deals shittsy damage anyways) are random proc and can break your fear in the worst moments.
    Rather spend these points to get 5/5 parry and improved charge

    • @viktor8552
      @viktor8552 Рік тому

      Rend is your best damage per rage early on providing decent damage during your early levels. Later on deep wounds damage will be quite substantial since you’ll crit a lot with 10% crit from talents and 50% crit on overpower.

    There is another factor regarding leashes, where a mob will re-lease if they're within melee range for a certain amount of time, which I hear is 1.5 seconds. If anyone can confirm the rules behind this I'd be interested to hear them, since I've seen a little evidence that this doesn't effect all mobs or it might be longer than 1.5 seconds (or maybe movement is involved?).

    • @andrewg3196
      @andrewg3196 Рік тому +1

      It's not when they're in melee range, it's when they're standing still. And I think it's about a second. If it were just melee range then mobs would never leash off lol. And I think you still need to do something to refresh the leash. It's why people say sometimes you shouldn't stop and heal and should just run because stopping to heal will let them stand still. I don't remember exactly though just watch Calamity's video.

    Warriors have a shit ton of disadvantages in HC, but one big advantage: you can tank. Warriors can form their own groups and exclude anybody who might roll on their gear. Sure you can only run the dungeon once, but imagine being a rogue, or worse yet, a warrior who doesn't want to tank. Nothing but quest reward weapons and vendor stuff would be absolutely brutal.

For example I was lvling my Troll Hunter in the Barrens and the Cat Eye Emerald Quest lead me to a Mine in the way North and as I was farming the goblins around the entrance I got more green leather / green weapons/ my 1st shoulders / a shadow wand in only like 1.5 hours and it felt godlike at that level. Maybe some other spots like this you can think of or just more info on the loot/ reward/ vendor side of things that are "obtainable in HC" I have noticed that many quests in classic are available early but are WAY to insane to try until much much higher lvl. Thanks for all your work on here man, i have been a life long power gamer but just recently got into Classic, been consuming the crap out of your content.

The hit reduction only feels bad. Statistically you generate more rage, deal more damage and are way less vulnerable to bad hit roll chains with a slow 2h.

    Few great tips
    stancedancing through macros is amazing. Example: /cast berserker stance /cast whirlwind (works great for battle stance+overpower too) or /cancelaura bloodrage /cast battle stance /cast charge
    pre lvl 30, heroic strike and rend have amazing dmg/rage value. keep in mind that heroic strike ''consumes'' or empowers your next auto attack; instead of auto-attacking, you will heroic strike, netting you higher damage but no rage. this means that, especially at lower level, sword and board isn't that bad. although a 2-hander better, using a shield 1-16 as a troll, nelf, gnome, or human, isn't the end of the world at all; more value from heroic strikes (as the static dmg is not influenced by weapon dmg, a quicker main hand is amazing for heroic strike), and if your attack doesn't land - either it's blocked, parried, dodged, or it misses - it doesn't matter as much as it does with a slower weapon. a 3.5 second weapon can miss three times in a row over 12 seconds and mean death, a quicker 1.5 weapon will more quickly approach the averages of your chance to land or miss a hit, and your target's chance to avoid it. in other words, a quicker weapon mitigates mitigation. slow weapons are the best, but heroic strike at lower levels is insane, making quicker weapons extremely viable too!
    most importantly: hamstring kiting is the best thing there is. as your auto's do about 2-3 times as much dmg as the things you're fighting. considering your hp is higher than most mobs, you will be able to chain-pull without issues, and the game changes from ''stand and hit'' to ''wow i actually have to do things and it matters''

    Warrior is a lot stronger in Classic levelling than anyone wants to admit. Strong passive armor and powerful auto attack with good weapon especially heroic strike removing hit problems, sunder removing enemy armor and demo shout being really strong at low levels. Tons of ways to boost survivability and damage passively through professions. Warrior is not good when getting out of problems, most of which can be avoided with smart gameplay and being prepared with consumes and an escape plan. Retaliation, shield wall and recklessness are the most powerful cooldowns in the game but long timers mean you need to be smart when to use them.

    Spirit is a decent stat actually, strength gets btfo by virtually any upgrade to weapon damage.
    Like for half the game at any low level a quest staff is often the best easily available 2-hander.
