Paladin and Shaman are definitely the two most boring classes in the game, with Priest and Warlock following right behind. Easy as hell to play though, you only need a handful of buttons and you can pretty much manage anything due to their armor and healing. Hell, run one as Prot with a bit in holy for uninterrupted heals and you are pretty much unstoppable. You can basically run into a group or 4-5 mobs with a shield and the mobs will all die by the time your at half health then you heal, drink, and repeat. It's like mage AOE grinding but easier due to plate armor, an equipped shield, and not needing to kite. The only issue with paladins is their low damage and relatively low health pool compared to Warriors and Druids but their armor is spectacular and their AOE is better than Warriors and Druids. Their single target damage is complete shit though, probably the worst in the entire game but you'll never die unless you fall asleep while playing or fall off a cliff while afk-running only to alt/tab back and your character is a ghost.
They also get a unique skill in Hardcore, if you are in a party and dont feel to play hardcore anymore you can use "divine intervention" wich applies a bubble for 3 min on an ally and you can transfer to a non hardcore server with a free transfer.
Remember that bubble hearth will be disabled on the official HC realms as well. - "Paladins will not be able to use their Hearthstone while under the effects of Blessing of Protection, Divine Protection, or Divine Shield on Hardcore realms."

When they play tested paladin they found out they had almost nothing to click on, so they decided to make their buffs last only 5 minutes to give them something to do.
I've always levelled as prot. It's a bit slow until you get Consecration and Righteous Fury, but after that you can easily tank any dungeon and it only gets better. By the time you get seal of light and wisdom, you can pretty much grind away with 3-4 mobs on you at all times with barely any down time.
Absolutely the way to go. You can bubble bandage to save mana as well. Also, if you try to get mail / plate with int on your holy damage from cons and ret aura is enough. You just sit back and watch those murlocs burn
Sactity Aura is very stron in my opinion. I never skilled ret aura and used it only for fast attacking enemys. Also res auras are a must have for me, making caster and elemental fights so much easier. Lower ranks of SoC only have lower judge damage, can be helpful for keeping mana up Bubble + First aid saves a lot of mana too
The problem is people go into zones and do quests at their level so if they pull two mobs they might die, but if they pull a third they will die. Overlevel the area you are in, the mobs you are fighting and the quests.
Hey WillE! Great video as always, but I feel like there’s a major spec option being passed over for leveling, that being deep Holy/Shockadin. I’m not going to link it here as to avoid derailing your content, but Metagoblin put out a video going into the logistics of it a few years ago; I leveled this in initial vanilla classic and felt it was very strong, with little downtime and a 30 yd spell to pull mobs with being the high points.
As someone who had a paladin tank in vanilla/classic, you still can tank in lv 60 dungeons and 10 man raids just fine. It's the 40 raids things gets depressing for paladins.
I've played up to cat as a pali. I played on a private server as a pali. Pali is my favorite class. I can heal and kill shit quickly yes plz. I'm a blood elf fan. I started with BC but I do appreciate a dwarf pali. Classic palis r not the best but they r still my favorite.
I like how the sentiment goes *You must suffer from mental problems if you want to play a paladin* , looking at the way your wrote that it seems accurate to say the least
Paladin is SUPER GOOD for hardcore as long as you're patient and have decent risk assessment. With judgment of light on targets, divine shield and healing yourself, you will not die as long as again, you're patient. Palading can slowly grind our very strong foes and elites with just keeping judgment of light and wisdom up and conserving mana, it just takes a while.
I agree .. it's generally patience with Pallies especially from lvl 1 to 10 untill you get decent protection .. and then you wait for your attack skills .. but i think a bit mid game thr Pally get's really interesting .. as you can do damage to armored and unarmored enemies as Holy damage eats through plate .. you can protect yourself because you have like 3 or 4 life saving skills (a couple of bubbles and an instant full heal for instance ).. so considering you would go Defensive , the Paladin is literally a tank . But just to confirm what you said .. yes , patience is needed with Paladins especially the first 15 levels , because you only have your once in a 10 sec skill judgement and from there on just your auto swingt, which could be really boring ..
@@robertp457 not really to be totally honest with you .. if you had played pally then you should know you have only your 1 attack with c 10 seconds cooldown and your auto attack until you are level 15/20 for retribution in which you can upgrade so to speak your judgement which results in 2 seconds faster judgement in which you are still forced to go on with your 1 attack only and your (buffed) autoattacks or you could choose to go holy ( around lvl 20 )specifically for the aoe damage skill which would be your "second" attack skill .. sort of ...... so .. i don't see that happening with a rogue for instance with sinister strike and evistrate and gouge on lvl 6 , sprint on level 10 .. Or a hunter which has shots , or a mage which has fireball , frostbolt, and fireblast and free food before they reach lvl 10 .. Or a warrior that can charge and instant attack and what not , also way before they reach level 20 .. Pally is really just having patience , and wait until you have more skills or upgrade a certain skill to decrease cooldown time .. just saying Oh , but mid game pallies ? You just feel strong as a wow char. Late game pally ? Same story .. but early game pally ? patience
You did a great job on this video, minus the fact you went str. If you went all spell increase/int gear leveling you just sword and board it. The extra damage you do with seals and consecrate makes a 2hr look week. Plus your talents look like a druids doing this.
This sounds like someone applying a retail lens to vanilla wow. There isn't exactly all that much +spell dmg levelling gear in vanilla. Read: nearly none. Also, as he made clear, consecrate does piddly damage. That's true even with decent +spell dmg. And nobody cares if your talents "look like a druids [sic]" or not. The only way that form of levelling works is if you've got decent reflective dmg and are AoE grinding to level cap. The problem is, that method is too risky in hardcore if you're actually pulling sufficient mob numbers to make it worthwhile.
Sanctity Aura is great if you're running with a smite priest. Throw it on, judge crusader and watch them pop off. To say nothing of the defensive capability of such a duo, healing for days and shields/immunities, nutty.
Only thing I wish you covered wash rotation. There’s a lot of debate about this. Particularly with weapons speed as a factor. It would be cool to see you at least show the 2-3 arguments being made
Paladins are gangsters. They’re faster to level comparatively to other classes in regular classic because most people die a bunch and you don’t die much on a paladin which saves you a lot of time. Still a solid leveling choice in hardcore, so easy to play, so forgiving and spells like bubble LOH and freedom. I used to destroy MC/BWL geared 60’s in duels when I was level 51 and had just got ice barber spear from the AV quest. People would freak out and say I only won because I bubbled and healed lmao

PoJ being the single most important talent until level 40 in terms of speeding up your leveling says all you need to know about paladin dpm, because honestly no one mesures paladin damage per second ;)
Paladin also goes from being the worst melee dps in raids to being the best in HC. The survivability + being able to off heal the tank in emergencies with Lay on Hands is just so good in HC. The ability to kill a boss in 3 minutes instead of 5 minutes is completely meaningless in HC. Safe and steady wins the race.
Just rolled a paladin and she's at lvl 6. Was wanting to go protection with shield so I was wondering if it was worth it at all? None of your builds had much into it
Righteous Fury is a baseline, learn from trainer spell. The talent is improved righteous fury, making you generate and additive 30% more threat with it active. Not at all necessary if you're close to the same gear level as the people you're dungeoning with.
Not even a Paladin can survive HC when enemies respawn directly on top of you when you are already fighting, gotten out of it a few times but they always get you in the end.
Well I was expecting this video to be HOT GARBAGE and I must say, WillE did NOT disappoint! In fact... its FAR worse than that. For example... 1. Did you know Stam / Int gear consecration build levels just as fast as 2 hander command builds? I should know I tested it. Stam / Str = +20% damage vs Stam / Int = +130% mana bar. A little bit of extensive testing later and... yup same leveling speed. Just don't forget that rank 3 SoR and JoCru for its 15 / 20% spell power ratio. Did you know that this is COMMON KNOWLEGE to be doing around level 32 which is when you get seal of light? Even outside of Hardcore? Never watched a Kargoz video huh? 2. Did you know that AoE tanking REALY comes online at level 42? Consecration + Sanc + Seal of Wiz? The hell is that DEEP RET build? Never watched ANY paladin leveling video huh? 3. DO NOT... JUDGE ON CD... as a paladin... in HARD CORE as Ret. Holy, dear god NO! What's the "plan" with that one exactly? Increase DPS by 7% (tested it) over letting spirit ticks happen and saved drinking time? To what end exactly? be half mana or less when you suddenly REALLY need a near full mana bar or Die? Get out of here with judge on CD rotation. 4. Judgment of Light and Blessing of Light are NOT skippable in training. JoL/W has 2/3 proc chance regardless of wep speed, meaning at level 33 with a Knightly sword (1.5s green) its something stupid like (does math) 28.4 Healing per second. 28.4 HPS you can swap into along with a shield on demand that will SAVE YOUR LIFE in hardcore even your stupid slow 2 hander idea can appreciate. 5. Blessing of Light (level 40) adds whatever it says it adds for Flash of Light to RANK 1 (35mana) Flash of light. I think its 60 at level 40. Blah blah blah... 35 mana for 130-150 heals. Its #1 blessing in group content and can also save your life in very dire situations along side #4. Your LAST bits of mana in a dire situation as a paladin in Hard Core should be Blessing of Light, Seal of Light, Judgement of Light as it generates an INSANE HPS number (does math) of 80-100 HPS. 6. Slow weapons suck for Ret in Hard Core. Yes they scale well with Command but what's "the plan" here? Be OOM running from 2 mobs only to have to fight 1 mob to live or die... miss miss, dodge, parry, miss = Dead dumb paladin? (Its a 1 in 25 encounters BTW where this will happen). HOT GARBAGE my dude.

That’s what I did leveling as prot is so much easier
Sactity Aura is very stron in my opinion. I never skilled ret aura and used it only for fast attacking enemys.
Also res auras are a must have for me, making caster and elemental fights so much easier.
Lower ranks of SoC only have lower judge damage, can be helpful for keeping mana up
Bubble + First aid saves a lot of mana too
Can we all agree that WillE is the best classic wow content creator. By far
Payo
I dont play classic at all, but binge all of these videos. Love the format!
You should do a guide on the zone progression for leveling. So many folks die in Westfall.
The problem is people go into zones and do quests at their level so if they pull two mobs they might die, but if they pull a third they will die. Overlevel the area you are in, the mobs you are fighting and the quests.
Because most people start westfall at lvl 10-11. While many of the mobs are 2-3 levels higher than them.
Of course you should get redemption, reviving hunter pets is legendary.
It's the 40 raids things gets depressing for paladins.
i like the itemization for paladin they can use almost everystat pretty effectively
Except spirit. Paladins pretty much spam when healing and are never really able to use the 5-second rule. It's a shit stat for them.
I play classic with a controller(consoleport addon) and its great being able to sit back and level characters on my steam deck while watching youtube
Finally 🎉 Ret Paladins unite!
GREAT VID. JUST DONT FORGET SOME SEALS ARE " STICKY" AND IN A GRP OF 2 OR 3 PALLIES THERE SHOULD BE 2 OR 3 STICKY SEALS ON MOB.
Only one thing about paladin survival. Two equal level mobs will make you heal midfight. If they are higher level you will use a bubble
I mean, blessing on cooldown might be annoying for most paladins but for prots, it's just the normal rotation ^^
"xxxxxxx is SUPER GOOD for hardcore as long as you're patient and have decent risk assessment" that's for every class.
@@robertp457 not really to be totally honest with you .. if you had played pally then you should know you have only your 1 attack with c
10 seconds cooldown and your auto attack until you are level 15/20 for retribution in which you can upgrade so to speak your judgement which results in 2 seconds faster judgement in which you are still forced to go on with your 1 attack only and your (buffed) autoattacks or you could choose to go holy ( around lvl 20 )specifically for the aoe damage skill which would be your "second" attack skill .. sort of ...... so .. i don't see that happening with a rogue for instance with sinister strike and evistrate and gouge on lvl 6 , sprint on level 10 ..
Or a hunter which has shots , or a mage which has fireball , frostbolt, and fireblast and free food before they reach lvl 10 ..
Or a warrior that can charge and instant attack and what not , also way before they reach level 20 ..
Pally is really just having patience , and wait until you have more skills or upgrade a certain skill to decrease cooldown time .. just saying
Oh , but mid game pallies ? You just feel strong as a wow char. Late game pally ? Same story .. but early game pally ? patience
Somebody told me paladin is "one-click" class. He wasn´t wrong and while I was bored at the start, later on I´m glad to play as paladin.
Lol I got an ad for Felmyst during my watching of this video
In dungeons on paladin tank always have a druid in team for maximum thorns effect
To say nothing of the defensive capability of such a duo, healing for days and shields/immunities, nutty.
pop off?
for 2 mobs maybe, then the priest is probably oom XD
@@Plasmabeisser BoW + wand spec has that covered.
Have one go alchemy for consistent mana pots and it's a wrap.
Only thing I wish you covered wash rotation. There’s a lot of debate about this. Particularly with weapons speed as a factor. It would be cool to see you at least show the 2-3 arguments being made
Tho I've leveled as ret before I like to go holy with 3/5 redoubt and some points in ret. Sword and board, aoe pull low and slow lol
Hey man great video. Keep up the good work
Bling in classic as a Pala was super rough. Auto hit for the win every time
Paladin buffs alone are what made the alliance more powerful in raids. Shamans couldn't hold a candle to that In classic.

I would actually really like to see that there has been alot of shifts in Meta lately
you missed the paladin aoe grinding build you can do in the mid 30s that is extremely good for solo play
I am a Paladin main and please, do not motivate any Paladin's out there to start tanking...
Im a year late but why not 😅
Finally! Time for my two favourite classes.
And no matter your class a paladin will always buff you with might 🤣
Behemoth pronunciation is very funny
Damn, seeing PallyPower took me back. Good times.
Paladin in Classic is miserably boring. I didn’t enjoy them until about Cata but they got really fun to play in MoP.
there S tier in retail as well incredibly fun and strong
@@Gambleraddict79 oh yeah, modern iterations of paladin are a lot better to play
@@brandonkruse6412They where worse than classic before they got a complete re-design last patch (First time in the history of the game i have seen a class completely get reworked mid expansion because it was actually so fucking bad)
I had a blast playing ret in TBC during classic. Seal twisting was a great mechanic.
I choose Horde back in the day, and have never strayed!
Shamans next!
Hyped for divine intervention multiboxing lol...
I'm a little paladin, short and stout.
Here is my hammer, here is my mount.

You always got damg ticking even while casting heals
I been waitin for this one!!! :)
cant wait! when will official servers go live? i hope ptr ends in like 2-3 weeks, then we get it going!
btw. im thinking about leveling as prot pally w/ shield; very slow but also very durable for when shit gets hot.
I’m just coming back to wow classic and have been playing HC but how are you playing Pali on other characters like undead and dwarf?
PoJ being the single most important talent until level 40 in terms of speeding up your leveling says all you need to know about paladin dpm, because honestly no one mesures paladin damage per second ;)
Im playing one rn in hc going 3/3 Improved crusader? so its worth putting that up then command idk if its worth to skip it or is it worth using it
Verigan’s fist, while nice for being a quest reward, is actually pretty mid for doing dps.
You know... I was kinda set on a warlock but ive never leveled a Pally in classic.
With the removal of the debuff limit in official HC I'm definitely going warlock.
We need a video about the best HC duo class combinations
Use your brain.
Only problem with this guide is the weapons. 2 Hand-Mace is a achievement on the addon :)
Can't wait for the shaman
Lay on hands is insane for hardcore you basically can stop yourself or a friend been deleted 24 times a day lol
Why did you put 5 points towards redoubt when you need a shield to use it?????? 13:20
Divine intervention would be the ultimate paladin fantasy.
I respecced at 40 into prot with 11 points in holy. Its a 100% more fun gameplay than autoattacking but its still super slow
Also there are way more 1h upgrades than 2h
Divine Intervention being a thing in HC is the ultimate bro button
God. I wish we had Crusader Strike and Holy Strike.
If crusader strike was in classic I would love paladins
Play private servers. Easy fix.

So huge for players to not accidentally rip threat off their tanks!
Just rolled a paladin and she's at lvl 6. Was wanting to go protection with shield so I was wondering if it was worth it at all? None of your builds had much into it
I thought Righteous Fury was pretty important if you want to tank dungeons yet you don’t recommend it in the 2 builds you showed
Righteous Fury is a baseline, learn from trainer spell. The talent is improved righteous fury, making you generate and additive 30% more threat with it active. Not at all necessary if you're close to the same gear level as the people you're dungeoning with.
Nice weapons but no way in hell I'm doing dungeons in hardcore lol
Not even a Paladin can survive HC when enemies respawn directly on top of you when you are already fighting, gotten out of it a few times but they always get you in the end.
the softcore class
HOT
GARBAGE my dude.
Bubblehearth should be allowed. All other classes have more escape tools than the paladin + We are gonna need healers for hc raiding
Starting to tempt me to actually play hardcore when it comes out (and after my vacation in FF14)
From play testing paladins, it seems spiritual focus is not working on the PTR. Anyone else having this problem?
