I have to disagree with you at 10:05. You can easily trivialize this chicken escort by doing the quest "Tooga's Quest" at the same time. They are both escort quests to be taken to the same location. The only important difference here is that Tooga will follow you instead of leading you. So within the 30 minute time frame you're given you can easily pick up Tooga, take him straight to the chicken chicken escort and complete two escort quests at the same time. Tooga will also help you fight off anything that attacks so it's SUPER beneficial to do them at the same time. I hope this info helps at least one person. BTW LOVE the content!
I thought you might mention the entry quest to Western Plaugelands for the Horde, Scarlet Diversions. This unlocks All Along the Watchtowers and the Cauldron quests once you complete it. The goal is to annoy the Scarlet Crusade Encampment and pretend to be the Scourge so the Crusade will focus on the Scourge instead of you. To do this you need to use an item to burn down a tent and put up a flag. You cannot do any of this while being attacked from what I recall, so you need to kill the entire camp within aggro range. The problem is that it's nearly impossible to solo pull the guys at the center near the tent, and there's many casters in the group as well. It is possible to slowly whittle the group down by pulling, killing one mob, and then running, but running can be rather dangerous due to the wildlife. I don't know if I've ever done this quest on a character without dying, but if I did I'm pretty sure it was because I had help, even if not grouped with the other person. Given this is a level 50s quest, it's extremely unlikely someone else will be trying it at the same time as you, especially since it's Horde only. Since this opens up the entire zone, there's a lot of xp locked behind it, but I would probably want to be much higher than the recommended 53 before trying on hardcore.
You can have lucky spawns with almost no casters, making it much easier, so the difficulty it's a bit inconsistent. Definitely honorable mention would be this one for horde and the Redridge escort from the cave for alliance.
@@abduljabars There is also a patrolling group of scarlets that can spawn at that camp and makes their way to felstone field. If they spawn you're in for a world of hurt (hunter with pet, healer, mage pack.)

@@abduljabars Exactly.. People instantly pull aggro from the escort but they don't realize that its a warrior tank elite mob.. It would need to tank 4 orcs for 2 minutes before dying lol..
There's a quest in Ashenvale that has you escort a druid back into Darkshore. Right at the end of the quest it spawns a pack of three satyr casters who immediately target the escort. Their combined shadowbolts can outright kill the escort in one volley at a level where you might not even have interrupts based on your class. They then turn these shadowbolts on you. I'm no HC player, but I'd avoid it if possible.
There's a quest in Darkshore where a dwarf asks you to retrieve a chest from his wrecked ship off the coast. The murloks guarding the wreckage aggro through the walls, have a mix of casters and melee, you are slow while swimming, and respawn is pretty quick. Not to mention if you don't have a waterbreathing potion it could make it twice as difficult.
"Deep Ocean, Vast Sea" it's underwater so your classic breath meter is going to give you a tiny window to actually explore, it's miles offshore, and its a hard to navigate shipwreck with Murlocs jumping at you from all angles and through walls. If ever I was going to skip a quest its this one, because even in a group it is absolutely brutal.
? This quest is incredibly easy to solo with knowledge of where the chests are, there giant holes in the ships with 2 murloc guiding each and not within aggro range of one another. Kill 1-2 murloc a outside ship, go up for breath, kill 1 murloc in ship, up for breath, last murloc near chest, grab chest, up for breath. Rinse/repeat for next ship.
Surprised nobodies said "King of the Foulweald" for the horde in Ashenvale yet. Another hold-off against waves but very tough when doing it around the expected level ie 26-28. No time to rest between the waves and you have to fight at least 10+ mobs before the quest mob spawns.
The mine in hillsbrad for horde players is a deathtrap if you're not prepped. Be advised. There's a mob that, at low health, spawns 2 additional adds that hit like a truck.
This and any enemy that spawns ads usually does so around the 50% HP mark. If the enemy is stunned when it would normally use that ability, it simply won't 😋

Using a mount to aggro everything before the chicken goes in combat then reset them is a real cheesy way to complete them if you wanted. Just gotta make sure none of the mobs hit you while you are near the chicken or he will enter combat and help you.
The best advice I would give to anyone levelling in Classic regardless of it being Hardcore or not is to simply avoid “tunnel-visioning” on one objective. Almost everything you do while levelling serves multiple purposes. This is one of the absolute brilliance of Classic WoWs game design. If you tunnel-vision a quest it’s simply not as efficient or profitable as grinding mobs that drops crafting items. Treat most quests like bonus XP. It’s not like Retail or Wrath where quests are the most important.

I died to this quest on my shaman back in vanilla, I died on the same spot in classic... hopefully it's all fresh in my mind so I don't fall into that problem again.
This isn't necessarily a quest, but Son of Arugal patrolling North Silverpine Forest is terrifying when trying to complete Sepulcher quests. It feels like playing Dead Space.
I have over 1000 hours in classic wow, probably more. I played the whole of classic and know literally all the quests/zones am total nerd. Don't play hardcore, you will quit the game. You're going to die and you don't know why. Trust me. Play through on softcore once, then play hardcore. I'm going to save you many many hours.
idk why but the silithid egg quest in the barrens is in my opinion one of the scariest ones, first of all it's high level for the zone, and the silithid grubs that spawn after getting an egg have an absurd amount of damage, hitting for 50-90 per hit while each egg spawning about 3 of them, if you have no aoe it's a true nightmare
Yep, that one always gets me. Even worse if you've taken herbalism; those little gold dots of mageroyal and wild steelbloom on the mini map right next to the hives. Many, many corpse runs there😂
Great video ! thanks for sharing those ! At my surprise I did a few of them on my warlock and made it out ! Also, I was expecting to see what was my hardest and 'spiciest" quest I have ever done ; Insane druids ! Guys if you see a quest named Insane Druids, avoid at all cost. It will lure you in an underground maze filled up with different kinds of druids. Including alot of patrols and very fast respawns. Mobs are 10 feet apart from one another. It took me 2 hours + but I made it out ! Quest gave nothing beside exp.
Anyone else massively triggered when he called it "One Thousand Needles"? Because it's definitely just "Thousand Needles" and this is a hill I need to die on.
I really wanted to prove you wrong, but my proof comes from the RPG which did call it the One Thousand Needles. Since that's non canon, you are actually correct that it was never officially called 1Kneedles.
With the Tanaris chicken escort Scorpions, if they alive and you run ahead and kill them, they are on a respawn timer, sso when the chicken gets there they may just not spawn (after their deaths, they respawn as hidden and the chicken "summons" them. IF they are still dead then there is nothing to summon. Also the quest fails if the chicken dies, so in non-HC many times I was able to corpserun back and continue following the chicken (if mobs havent killed it yet)
not sure if it is elite, but the quest the star the hand and the heart is one of the ones I found the most challenging as well as the alliance escort in arathi highlands that goes though the horde village, if unlucky the courier can spawn on top of you just as you exit the hut, and on to low level you will get additional pulls. Any quest with high density murlocs are also bad news since they net you and run away to others at low health.
Vanilla WoW is full of quests in every single zone that just shouldn't be done at the recommended level unless you've done them before and know what to expect / how to cheese it. The other day (not on hardcore mode) I tried to do a quest in Silverpine Forest where I had to place a severed head in an alcove inside a keep on Fenris Isle. I fought my way in easily enough, but holy shit, once inside, it's impossible to pull less than 3 mobs at once, they all dual wield and attack extremely quickly, they pull others when they try to run when their health is low, and if you attempt to run away you just end up running into respawns outside the castle. I came back 4 levels higher and still almost died doing it.
Just trying to get INTO that mine as a Warrior killed what interest I had in that character back in mid-Vanilla Classic. Trying the Defend quest on HC would, for me at least, being a Mage and a high enough level that the reward essentially doesn't exist.
Never do a fight where you have to use a trick like jumping back and forward a spot because you're going to most likely mess up one jump and it's panic mode.
That's a group quest that really isn't jerking you around. Soloing Kurzen is... not something 99% of people are going to be able to do. Heck, I barely managed it duo during Season of Mastry - and we died quite a few times. Hardcore solo - don't even bother, its not worth it.
I attempted Piznik on my current druid. Luckily I realized pretty early into one of the large pulls that it was time to dip and I made it out. I should go back there for some revenge.
There is another way out of the Prospector quest in a corner of the quarry. I doubt it would help much, but is a possible escape in certain situations.
For the chicken quest in Feralas - if you’re a shaman you can run ahead of the chicken to the gnoll spawns that happen as you’re heading down to the water and earthbind them and run down to the water. They should all follow you and keep the chicken from aggroing them at all. Eventually, they’ll leash, and the chicken can reach the shore without you having to worry about that patrol at all.
I almost always do the Feralas chicken quest, sometimes I do the Tanaris one (for the reasons stated in this video), but you can forget about that last one. I think I've only done it on ONE character out of the dozens I've made over the years.
Never actually did any of the escort quests other than absent minded prospector. Ahhh memories of the Alex Jones cyber chicken. Thank you WillE. After this video I'm going to have to watch "A leveling catastrophe in classic wow"
One more quest I would add to this list is the Deep Ocean, Vast Sea quest in Darkshore where you have to fetch some items from sunken ships that are swarming with murlocs with really fast respawns.
I had a very difficult time with “test of endurance “ solo. Died 6 or 7 times but was finally about to complete it. Definitely recommend being a higher level.
15:05 Blizzard has addressed these quest saying they won't require death. In this quest I would guess the item instead of killing you would just apply a buff allowing you to talk to the NPC.
Gotta have the Obsidion quest that happens way later on this list. It's an elite quest that is surprisingly more difficult than any other elite quest I've done thus far - mostly because of the topography.
I typically just skip quests that are either too hard to solo at it’s respective level and quests that involve killing a named mob. More often than not it’s better to keep grinding than waiting for a single mob to respawn.
Wow, it’s been so long doing a lot of these old quests that a lot of this stuff I forgot even happens, like the plague lands quest with the group that jumps you at the graveyard! Forgot all about that one!
The honorable mention “Gerenzo's Orders” is exactly what killed my lvl 24 hunter (I simply stumbled upon this quest and didn’t know what it was about) Before that all went so smooth I was lullabied by the treacherous easiness of hunter leveling. Never touched hardcore ever since lol
I love that you're doing hc things now I already tried some hc with my own challange of only using spells from one spec on mage. I might try it normally though. Eitherway I had a break but I might actually come back
I am kinda curious if the Linken Questchain is still available on the hardcore servers. Because it would be quite the hilarious troll to have a quest available that will erase your character.
Just to add a couple. I am not sure there is a single quest but anything going near or up to the Altar of Jintha'Alor (troll aztec temple) in the Hinterlands is dangerous. The other memorable hard quest is an Alliance only quest in Darkshore. It's "Deep Ocean, Vast Sea". It's underwater, going into underwater ship wreckages against murlocs. Nuff said.
I already levelled a hardcore character to 80 (60 in vanilla, 70 in TBC and now 80 in wotlk). I had some hard rules for myself. Never ever go into a cave unless you way overlevel the mobs and quest is green. No elites and no groups/dungeon quests. My character is a warlock and my voidy saved me many many times.
I soloed all those quests but the last one as a druid. I honestly believe it is impossible to finish it without being over level for it (or doing it in a group). I remember I picked it because I needed just a bit more XP for the last level and I ended up just grinding kobolds in the cave after failing it a couple of times.
You actually have some time to regen between each group. If you have strong damage, AOE/CC or something to offtank the damage, it's really not impossible. I did the quest solo on all my horde characters and always was a fun challenge.
Isn't there a quest that ends up with you dropping out of the sky in gadgetzan from something? i started playing the game again in HCC and I've been trying to think of all the quest that forcibly kill you.
The Stonetalon quest at the end Gerezno's orders had my heart pumping at lvl 28, I would just skip it unless you have sacrifice voidwalker and master summoner
Freedom to Ruul. Rescue From Jaedenar. Free From the Hold. All problematic escort quests inside of densely-packed areas. Free From the Hold even has an obnoxiously long respawn timer, just to cap things off.
I tried gorenzos order yesterday on my 24 HC warr. I’ve never tried it before, had NO idea what I was getting into. Needless to say… go agane. Too bad this vid wasn’t 1 day earlier lol
Why u trying aoe cave quests at 24 on a warr. You shouldnt even be in caves on warr till u have sweeping strikes and a good 2h wep like whirlwind at minimum
I wish I had watched this before I tried your #1, the final mention. Fortunately someone on the opposing faction assisted, helping me to reset/escape. Then I found a party of 3. It was nuts. I was playing a warrior. He died while tanking SFK the next day, haha. The low level made the common mistake of aggroing mobs on a higher area which chain pulled another 10 mobs... I was a bit over leveed and planned to tank them, but the other 4 players were roaches/rats.
To summarize the video: 1. Dont do escorts alone 2. Dont do caves alone 3. Dont quest on endgame zones alone (such as plaguelands) 4. Night elf arguably has the most dangerous starting zones 5. Some of the most dangerous early quests are on Horde side 6. Desolace is generally just a bad place to quest in vanilla wow. Even more on HC 7. STV and Ungoro have some of the most deadliest quest traps 8. Generally dont do quests you're not familiar with alone 9. Engineering is a good profession for melee class 10. The most common deaths are from mobs you didnt know were there.
You should add “supplies to auberdine” to this list, I thought I’d be safe doing it since I was four levels higher than the quest but I was wrong. I finished the last encounter and died after to curse of agony but couldn’t do anything about it as I was stuck in combat and had already used a pot and the damage ticks cancelled my bandage. No idea how this is a level “24” quest
there is 1 quest, alliance only, never, ever do on a HC character unless you're maybe a hunter. bellygrub. just a casual level 24 boar you think, not an elite mob you think, no elite tag on the quest you think. this boar has 1100 hp and hits for around 100 dmg per auto attack. good luck. also, no the mob is not tagged as elite either
This is what made Vanilla/Classic so great. Quests that were not afraid to just stomp all over you in a friendly way of saying "get better" or "get friends."
I can proudly say i completed gerenzos orders on lvl 25 warrior. Never done it before but i was in the area, barely managed to survive with 37hp definitely thought i was going back to mulgore the whole last wave

Also another dangerous quest is the horde one in hillsbraf where you have to kill foreman bonds. He summons 2 adds all of a sudden
That is an easy one xD. Did it at lvl 31 on my 1st warrior.
@@ProfessorThinker-zv5vt yeah but think about someone being like lvl 28 and then being surprised. also at the back of a cave.
its just better to know
@@mitchtheronin1469 At lvl 28 it is ez to do still. Not a hard quest. If you die, you're a noob.
In Defense of King's Lands and Battle for Hillsbrad should be honorable mentions
This isn't necessarily a quest, but Son of Arugal patrolling North Silverpine Forest is terrifying when trying to complete Sepulcher quests. It feels like playing Dead Space.
Died so many times to there trying to get some briarthorn
Or randomly walking into soutshore guards while killing some bears in hillsbrad.
As a new player to Classic WoW that just died to Hogger i needed this video. Thank you❤
I have over 1000 hours in classic wow, probably more. I played the whole of classic and know literally all the quests/zones am total nerd. Don't play hardcore, you will quit the game. You're going to die and you don't know why. Trust me. Play through on softcore once, then play hardcore. I'm going to save you many many hours.
@@jamescpalmer Bro I'm already lv17 in WotLK and lv14 in Classic. I'm well ahead of you 😂
idk why but the silithid egg quest in the barrens is in my opinion one of the scariest ones, first of all it's high level for the zone, and the silithid grubs that spawn after getting an egg have an absurd amount of damage, hitting for 50-90 per hit while each egg spawning about 3 of them, if you have no aoe it's a true nightmare
Get the razorhide buff from Camp Taurajo, gives you thorns!
I dunno, yes this quest has killed one of my many characters in hardcore but tbh it is not that difficult.
Yep, that one always gets me. Even worse if you've taken herbalism; those little gold dots of mageroyal and wild steelbloom on the mini map right next to the hives. Many, many corpse runs there😂
Love these vids and I haven’t played wow in two years
i haven't in ten
Great video ! thanks for sharing those ! At my surprise I did a few of them on my warlock and made it out !
Also, I was expecting to see what was my hardest and 'spiciest" quest I have ever done ; Insane druids !
Guys if you see a quest named Insane Druids, avoid at all cost. It will lure you in an underground maze filled up with different kinds of druids. Including alot of patrols and very fast respawns. Mobs are 10 feet apart from one another. It took me 2 hours + but I made it out ! Quest gave nothing beside exp.
Man, this video brought back so, so many painful memories from vanilla...
Atleast you remembered them. Unlike all the levelling in retail.
2:30 is when the actual video content starts
Never do a fight where you have to use a trick like jumping back and forward a spot because you're going to most likely mess up one jump and it's panic mode.
My guess for number one.
Kurzen Cave
Edit* I'm honestly surprised it didn't even make the cut. Those stealthed mobs with the stun are brutal
Kurzen Cave is certainly a pain to do, but for gun reliant classes you can just get a really nice gun that lasts a good while.
That's a group quest that really isn't jerking you around. Soloing Kurzen is... not something 99% of people are going to be able to do. Heck, I barely managed it duo during Season of Mastry - and we died quite a few times. Hardcore solo - don't even bother, its not worth it.
@@andromidius the quest to kill the named mob is a group quest, the one before where you just kill mobs in the cave is not
@andromidius i did it on level even killing the elite with no problems xD
Was it at Western plague lands. The tent quest where you have to set the tent at fire and place a flag there. It should be at least in top 15 hardest.
OMG! I did that quest "Gerenzo's Orders" in HC on my pally. Lucky i didn't die. Made it out of the cave alive lol
I did the Piznik quest last night with a priest, wherever you are, Clamantha thanks you
For the chicken quest in Feralas - if you’re a shaman you can run ahead of the chicken to the gnoll spawns that happen as you’re heading down to the water and earthbind them and run down to the water.
Really? I have done it and it was the easiest for me, maybe i got luck with the Enemies 😅
And the murlocs bug as well when running away, running at the speed of light and through walls.
Nah bru that shit isnt considered hard at all. Theres way harder water quests that are similar with elite enemies.
I had a very difficult time with “test of endurance “ solo. Died 6 or 7 times but was finally about to complete it. Definitely recommend being a higher level.
As a holy priest, that was a nightmare.
That harpy cave in thousand needles is full of skeletons
Most of them are mine 😢
15:05 Blizzard has addressed these quest saying they won't require death. In this quest I would guess the item instead of killing you would just apply a buff allowing you to talk to the NPC.
Good trick
You forgot King of the Foulweald as horde specific
Also, near that digsite escort quest, there is a horde patrol that can kill you at that level so do not AFK near the camp or water.
Gotta have the Obsidion quest that happens way later on this list. It's an elite quest that is surprisingly more difficult than any other elite quest I've done thus far - mostly because of the topography.
Could you please makr a list for these high surprise risks frok eache zone ot class quests?
I lost my mage to a class Quest inside Stormwind...
The elite in searing gorge is pretty nasty
I typically just skip quests that are either too hard to solo at it’s respective level and quests that involve killing a named mob. More often than not it’s better to keep grinding than waiting for a single mob to respawn.
I can honestly say the Hinterlands Robot Chicken quest is one of the easier ones. The Tanaris one is by far teh hardest.
I agree 100% the wolf's are a non issue if u stay to the wall on the right side of the mountain because all the wolf's are to the left
I find Chasing A Me escort often dodgy because people often grind the gorillas and they spawn very fast. Good XP tho
Wow, it’s been so long doing a lot of these old quests that a lot of this stuff I forgot even happens, like the plague lands quest with the group that jumps you at the graveyard! Forgot all about that one!
The honorable mention “Gerenzo's Orders” is exactly what killed my lvl 24 hunter (I simply stumbled upon this quest and didn’t know what it was about)
Before that all went so smooth I was lullabied by the treacherous easiness of hunter leveling. Never touched hardcore ever since lol
8:40, it has 2 exits, on the opposite side where u go down u can go up aswell
Good video idea, great work : )
I love that you're doing hc things now I already tried some hc with my own challange of only using spells from one spec on mage. I might try it normally though.
Eitherway I had a break but I might actually come back
15:20 I think they've fixed all the quests that required you to die, did they miss the graveyard elixir one?
The #1 on your list I did unknowingly and found out it was not that easy
The Stranglethorn Fever Quest really feels hard, i needed 5 trys to finish that Quest. Jesus
Hi Will!
I love HC videos!
Isn't there a quest that ends up with you dropping out of the sky in gadgetzan from something? i started playing the game again in HCC and I've been trying to think of all the quest that forcibly kill you.
The Stonetalon quest at the end Gerezno's orders had my heart pumping at lvl 28, I would just skip it unless you have sacrifice voidwalker and master summoner
even on paladin with 30 frost resistance at 27 it was extremely close
How about heleculars revenge?:)
You didn't mention the Goblin warlock quest level 12 in Durotar
Freedom to Ruul. Rescue From Jaedenar. Free From the Hold. All problematic escort quests inside of densely-packed areas. Free From the Hold even has an obnoxiously long respawn timer, just to cap things off.
Hillsborad foothills lion and turtle quests. There’s a black dragon that patrols the river and some open space who caught me
I don't know what it is but your voice reminds me of theotrix, the guy who does OSRS videos. Might be your speech mannerisms. Great content!
I tried gorenzos order yesterday on my 24 HC warr. I’ve never tried it before, had NO idea what I was getting into. Needless to say… go agane. Too bad this vid wasn’t 1 day earlier lol
Died on my warrior as well during the Season of Mastery Soul of Iron challenge.
Why u trying aoe cave quests at 24 on a warr. You shouldnt even be in caves on warr till u have sweeping strikes and a good 2h wep like whirlwind at minimum
Sorry man. I’ve gone through 6 HC warriors already, it’s rough out there!
Where is King of the Foulweald quest ? :D
Ez quest
The amount of temporal parasites you spawn depends on your distance from each of the silos so you can max range one end and only summon one at a time.
To summarize the video:
1. Dont do escorts alone
2. Dont do caves alone
3. Dont quest on endgame zones alone (such as plaguelands)
4. Night elf arguably has the most dangerous starting zones
5. Some of the most dangerous early quests are on Horde side
6. Desolace is generally just a bad place to quest in vanilla wow. Even more on HC
7. STV and Ungoro have some of the most deadliest quest traps
8. Generally dont do quests you're not familiar with alone
9. Engineering is a good profession for melee class
10. The most common deaths are from mobs you didnt know were there.
That one village defence quest in plaguelands was a tough one, the one that awards the cup of coffee.
The battle of darrowshire that's a raid quest. But it also needs strategy and can easily wipe or screw it up. Rewards Tea with Sugar
Shrug i did it at 25 easily. Depends on your class.
I quit over 6-7 years back but Classic HC looks very tempting.
there is 1 quest, alliance only, never, ever do on a HC character unless you're maybe a hunter. bellygrub. just a casual level 24 boar you think, not an elite mob you think, no elite tag on the quest you think. this boar has 1100 hp and hits for around 100 dmg per auto attack. good luck. also, no the mob is not tagged as elite either
Your video making AI is getting Better and Better :D
This is what made Vanilla/Classic so great. Quests that were not afraid to just stomp all over you in a friendly way of saying "get better" or "get friends."
Nice thing about these quests is with the official HC we can group for these.
Did the goblin-mine quest at lvl 24 without dying solo. Wasnt prepared for it to be so hard but mage OP
"Gerenzo's Orders" ... I survive the 4th wave and freak out thinking more waves are coming and i get killed when i panicked. Very hard quest.
Felwood cave quest where you escort the night elf in and then out. The three felguards are intense.
I can proudly say i completed gerenzos orders on lvl 25 warrior. Never done it before but i was in the area, barely managed to survive with 37hp definitely thought i was going back to mulgore the whole last wave
I dont do hard core but i have died on every one of these quests except the number one i had no problem with that on my hunter for some reason
Damn, my lvl 22 warrior died in that mine in Stonetalon yesterday.
Love Your content! Keep it up!
that goddamn prospector remtravel quest, holy jesus he got intakilled like 5 times so i decied to come back to that quest later on jesus
I forgot about that stupid miner goblin. Last time I was there I ended up helping some hordies do it and they helped me do it when it was my turn.
it never occurred to me Temporal Parasites was difficult, since I have always done it on a frost mage..
Hey I just did Gerenzo's Orders.. at lvl 40 while I was leveling my lock picking
You did it right 🤣
I’m glad you brought up Silithid quests. Those damn quests are really brutal, and I don’t even consider doing them unless I can’t avoid them. Yuck!
Any quest you do in duskwood and which brings you to the graveyard where Mor'Ladim waits the whole day to fuck you up...
