The Ljubljana-Metlika-State border railway line is one of the railway lines in Slovenia. After crossing the border with Croatia, the line continues to Karlovac. It is 124,4 km long regional line that was opened in 1914.
The starting station is Ljubljana, while the last major station before crossing the border with Croatia is Metlika.

The Ljubljana-Metlika-State border railway line was opened in three sage: Ljubljana - Grosuplje 1893., Grosuplje - Novo Mesto 1894, Novo Mesto - Metlika 1914., and also to Karlovac at that year.

Another beautiful railway line and video from Slovenia. The Slovenian branch lines are in great condition, at least comparison with the Hungarian branch lines.

Question: When you got to Metlika was that the end point destination for the day, meaning is that where you parked the train for the night or did you go on to another station? Nice trip !!👍👍

@@RailRelaxation In Japan a lot of the train crews work in route segmentation, meaning crews segment the route into 2 to 4 hour segments in one direction then switch with the crew going in the opposite direction to keep train crew near the home territory if possible. I know globally that different countries train companies have certain operational norms they follow but in Japan they have somewhat different way because of the extremely mountains terrain poses to the operational work patterns. Just thought you might find this interesting.
@Richard Long it is interesting. Thank you. Here in Slovenia is similar. The company tries to plan that the drivers can go back home on the same day.
@@RailRelaxation That's good that you work in a place that does care, there's many areas around the globe that this can't be done or the companies don't make allowances to make employees happy, sometimes it has to do with the size of the countries size and length of the routes. I don't work in the rail industry but had a grandfather that did and number of uncles that worked in the industry. I do travel quite a bit so I've when overseas I do travel by rail when possible just to see how other nations and rail systems accomplish passenger and freight delivers just because of my recent ancestors job experiences. If not for the railway jobs my family story may have been much more difficult than it turned out to be. I'm a mining geologist so when my travel schedule allows I'll try to sneak in a rail experience when possible.

@Captionmarvelous the data that I use are the GPS data and it can be inaccurate.
It really doesn’t and if does, it’s probably a short segment around Ljubljana. This is one of the slowest lines in Slovenia especially for how much traffic it caries.
