I'm glad that you and Mrs Old Hiking Geezer made it through without too much damage. We were without power from 3am Friday until 8pm Sunday. We also had no water from Friday until 11pm Sunday night. We had no phone or internet service until shortly after the electricity power came back. Stay safe.
We were very lucky where I am. No power cuts or destruction. It was very windy, not much rain and the worst thing I found was a piece of cardboard rubbish that had blown into my back garden. My heart goes out to everyone who wasn’t so lucky especially as those areas tended to be the same ones affected by the last storm. I hope everything gets completely back to normal for you soon!
You are so lucky, and I’m happy you sailed through it all. We are without electricity, WiFi, phone service, heat, light, refrigeration, and water - since the night of the storm. Entire forestry plantations are lying across the roads and the power lines - a huge tree hangs from the line which enters the house, like the sword of Damocles. They keep pushing the “repairs to service” back further into February….looking at another week and a half - if we are LUCKY. Living like a pair of old bears, huddled around the stove… Utterly miserable.
@ - we are between Glenfarne and Kiltyclogher, outside of Manorhamilton. Everyone in our area is without service, and because of the fallen Forestry trees across roads and lines - HUNDREDS of trees must be removed before the electricity guys can even get started. We tried to get up to check on a friend a few days ago - but the road is buried. It’s been SEVEN DAYS, and no one has heard from anyone out along that road. The cell towers are down, and they are unreachable by roadway. We are both in our 70’s. This is not good.
@janechamblesswright119 That is terrible. I know the area slightly and it has a lot of woodland so it must be horrendous. I hope that they start sorting it soon.
We were lucky. It was still rough, especially being cut off from power and communications. It just goes to show that living off grid sounds better as a pipe dream than a reality. Good video, as always ❤

We didn’t lose our water but, apart from that, we were in a similar position. It is shocking just how reliant we are on technology.
Glad to hear you came through the storm safely. Beautiful view of Benbulbin. 🇨🇦
Thank you

Other places near us had it much worse. Losing power was an inconvenience but not life threatening. As I said, we were lucky and thankful.
Wow you had a bad storm We get bad storms in Spring like that

That is so bad. I hope you don’t have to suffer too much longer. Where are you located ?

Bad luck with the electricity being cut off.
Hopefully wont happen again!
The roof damage was common all over Ireland.
I can’t complain. We were really lucky. With the power off and no internet, I rediscovered book reading.
